This bizarre yet smart, over the top yet minimalist comedy has achieved what very few dramas can, it's cast enjoyed the show more than the audience and one can easily tell. There are scenes with the Konbini manager where the rest of the cast literally fights to hold off their laughter; oh how I wish I could watch the behind the scene footage (speakng of that, if anyone has any clue where to, pm me onegaishimasu!).
I didn't know any of the cast beforehand and that's sad, because I can never take them seriously ever. If you have nothing better to do (Heck! If you had, would you be wasting time here reading this?!), go watch this drama and remember,
'God is dead (Kamisama......shinda),

It's a comedy; It has the "sitcom" format, but let me warn you, the kind of humour it displays has nothing to do with american sitcoms (that's why there's people that didn't find it funny at all).
Of course, being a sitcom, it has no story at all, but the situations the employees of a late night shift in a convenient store; and they are hilarious. The contrast between Urai Kenji's facial expressions, and the expressionless Shotaro is fantastic.
The acting is pretty good (I'm really sorry Sato Jiro wasn't there more time, because he was superb every time he appears), and I have really no idea how Mamiya Shotaro kept a straight face with all the ridiculous yet hilarious situations.
If you enjoy bizarre (and sometimes "stupid") humor, and WTF situations, this dorama is for you.

Watch for the humor but expect the pacing to drop off
I picked this up instantly upon come across some of the dry humor snippets on YT.My main complaint is that the pacing was a bit iffy, subjectively speaking - there were some really boring moments (mainly the female cast - Kaede ), I felt like it kept pulling attention from what I actually cared about - interraction of the protagonist with the team. I found her acting rather awkward and overdone - the rest of the characters fit the main theme much better. I wish there were even more Nii moments where he referenced stuff, it was my favourite part.
The characters were quite solid, esp. the main protagonist and Matsukoma, they have great synergy: cold versus warm. The other chars don't fall short either, if you wanted a group of diverse personalities at one place, it's gonna be in this jdrama.
Not much story to expect as this is just a sitcom, nevertheless, the ending doesn't leave you disappointed, there's a bit of closure.
I say, watch this if you enjoy the overall humor but expect to sleep through some episodes when it strays away.

Hilarious!!!
This drama is one of the funniest showsI've ever seen. Like it's so funny omg it
made me laugh so much that my
stomach was hurting, my eyes even got
teary cuz of laughing too much omg
??
More seriously, this is a Japanese
sitcom and see Japan comedy is very
different than normal comedy.
Japanese people like dry humour and
that's the reason most of their comedy
shows have dry humour. As a person
who is a big big fan of dry humour. This
show was just made for me. I'm saying
all this before cuz I'm kinda warning you
people before recommending the drama
cuz the show isn't funny for everyone.
That's the reason many people
international people found it boring and
hence it wasn't much popular
internationally but if you do like the way
Japanese people make comedies or if
you are a person with dry sense of
humour, this show will kill you cuz it's so
so funny. They don't have any particular
story or characters and all that haha.
Afterall it's just a sitcom so all of that
doesn't matter. There's no seriousness in
it which surprised me a bit cuz Japanese
shows with no life lessons are hard to
find lmao. It's just a sitcom of crazy
people working midnight in a
convenience story. And when I say
" crazy" I mean it cuz god I've never seen
more crazier and weirder characters than
these people ?? the show is full of
"WTF" situations and it's so fun!
The actors did great, the script was even
greater. One thing I loved about it was
that they showed clips of actors laughing
at the middle of the scenes. like they
didn't cut out bloopers which made it
more funny ?? another thing is that
the drama is based on a manga and I'll be
honest, I, most of the time don't like
dramas and movies like that cuz they are
cringy af since actors try to act like an
anime character and it's supposed to be
normal but it's not cuz no one talks like
that! I mean some live actions are actually
good and I acknowledge that but most of
the time it's like that but here the actors
intentionally make these kind of faces and
it's so damn funny lmao it's funny cuz no
one behaves like that and they used that
thing. You get what I mean right ? ???
Idk well whatever. Overall I don't think you
can write a review about a sitcom, can you
? It's just a very fun watch and definitely
recommend it!

Most of the scenes are relatively unconnected, there's not much plot development (and certainly no character development), and apart from the last episode, most of the scenes could have been swapped around without any detriment to the whole.
These unconnected skits remind me of the best of British comedy of the 1960s to 1980s in the heritage of Monty Python. The absurdity rivals skits like "The Cheese Shop" or "The Dead Parrot". It certainly wouldn't have been out of place in shows like "Not the Nine o'clock News" or "Fry and Laurie", only that the humour is, of course not in the English style but very Japanese.
The characters -- obviously caricatures -- are excellently done by the actors, and, if all of them did not have the great comedic timing they have, I'd suspect a lot of ad-libbing, this feels just so fresh and spontaneous.
You might find it too weird if you're not much into the surreal and absurd side of life, but if you are, you should give this series a try!
