It tells the story of a girl Jo Bok Nam (palyed by Park Yoo Sun), who is a bit too heavy and too strong compared to other students, is alienated both in class and in her home because her family is noisy, strange and antipathetic. She feels out of place everywhere. There is not much happening in her life: she delivers chickens, writes a letter to a soldier, trains tekwondo and watches “Flashman” on cartoons - a serial about a superhero that came from Saturn. Did she also come from the stars? Will she go back there?
In the ordinary story fantasy elements have been added, which allowed for the creation of a general metaphor for the lives of people on Earth: Earth seen from near is a great place, but Earth seen from the stars is just an insignificant small part of the universe. And it's probably the same with Bok Nam: now it seems to her that nowhere she fits, but what will be the picture of her life from the stars?
There are no classic topics that can be found in long dramas, so “Last Flashman” is original and fresh. Sympathy and friendship of different girls such as a strong tomboy Bok Nam and a delicate princess, who plays the piano - they are shown in a very gentle way. Alienation of the girl, her beginning of puberty, questions about herself - are presented very suggestively with great sensitivity and warmth, so that everyone can identify with the dilemmas of the main character, although now we are more mature then Bok Nam.
I recommend this drama for those who like simple and warm stories about life in the countryside and long for traveling in space.
