I am a fan of these kind of fantasy/romance dramas so I'm usually extra critical when it becomes to the story and plot.

I read from many places that this is kind of remake and ispired by korean drama 'you who came from the stars' even though this is really based on chinese novel series.
I admit, story sounds similar and female lead has similar traits with Cheong Song Yi's character but that's where the resemblance ends. And I'm actually glad that this was different from 'you who came from the stars'.

So we have self-confident actress Tian Jing Zhi (played by Wu Qian) who in the beginning is in distraught by getting dumbed by her childhood sweetheart boyfriend after proposing him. While venting her anger she gets into car crash and accidentally revives immortal Xue Ling Qiao (played by Kim Tae Hwan). Jing Zhi almost died but Ling Qiao with his abilities payed back the favor by healing her.

Ling Qiao, being lived in the earth for 500-something-years and being 'asleep' for 100 years he didn't know anyone and didn't have anywhere to go. The only person he could think of was Jing Zhi and thus he kind of forced himself as Jing Zhi's roommate.
This is where all the fun began, Jing Zhi being her bubbly and hyper self and Ling Qiao being serious and quiet.

I enjoyed the side characters Zhang Xuan Xuan (Shen Meng Shen), Li Yan Zhi (Fu Jia), Ye Chen (Xu Ke). I really wanted writers to concentrate on these characters more but I guess episode duration would have been too long. They were important to the story and all actors did great job representing them. This drama made me a fan of Xu Ke and I hope I will see him in more dramas in the future.

At first I felt in couple first episodes that plot isn't going anywhere. But those couple episodes was full of funny moments because Jing Zhi's character is kind of comical so I enjoyed it. Then plot started to take place soon and I was so into watching this. A little dissappointment was Kim Tae Hwan's performance, who as a novice actor didn't quite convey enough emotions for the viewer to feel it properly.

If you're awaiting some mind blowing romance from the start, you will be dissappointed. Scenes between Ling Qiao and Jing Zhi were sweet but romance evolved kind of slowly.

Main bad guy in this drama you can guess if you have good instinct and have watched this kind of dramas before. For me, I guessed who the bad guy was pretty quickly. But nevertheless, I was enjoying watching this. I felt like there weren't any extra character put there like an accessory but everyone had their own meaningful place in the story.

Only thing that was major disappointment for me was one plot turn happening in later episodes. All except that, I can say I am quite happy with 'My amazing boyfriend' and I hope they will make season 2!

Oh, and music was good too! I think I will go looking for OST ;) And I'm even interested to read My amazing boyfriend novel series if I ever find it translated it in english somewhere.

Overall; if you're a fan of fantasy and romance, this is definetly your drama.

I don't know what is wrong with me. This is totally not my type of drama, but I was hooked from episode 1. I watched this every chance I got in exclusion to any other drama. It is so fun and quirky with suspense and angst and tons of totally cute romance. The plot and the flow of the story is well written and directed. Although, I did guess who was the bad guy way early in the drama, I don't think it is the writers fault. It is just intuition. The extra characters that usually get on my nerves were needed for the actual story line and I enjoyed their interactions with the main characters. I appreciated the irony of them talking about second female lead as the girls' occupation were actresses. It was quite amusing. Also, it was interesting that the fantasy part of the drama felt ridiculously plausible. I even liked the ending. :-)

I don't know much about Chinese actors. Janice Wu was excellent as quirky, naive and somewhat silly Tian Jing Zhi. I didn't feel like she was stupid as some people felt. She seemed to pick up on things quite quickly once she had all the facts. She felt real to me and even through all the silliness. Kim Tae Hwan doesn't seem like much of an actor, but I cut him some slack since this is his first drama and he is model cute. He wasn't horrible as Xue Ling Qiao, but sometimes a little expressionless. The other actors were good too.

I enjoyed the music.

I might rewatch this someday..

If you enjoy fun, fantasy romance, then I recommend this drama.

Story: This drama was promoted as the Chinese equivalent to the popular KDrama "You Who Came From The Stars". I think it's a bit misleading. Perhaps, it's more appropriate to say this drama belongs in the same genre as YWCFTS. Except for the fact that the female lead's an actress and the male lead's over 500 years old, there is almost no similarity story-wise to YWCFTS. In my opinion, it is an excellent move by the director and producer to present an entirely different story combining Chinese humour, manhwa-like reactions (and drawings), ridiculous connotations as well as cute sound effects.

The female lead is the best second lead actress in the industry who spends her $$ to fund a well-digging project in Africa. Even this fact alone is laced with irony and Chinese satire! The male lead is a human who somehow acquired immortality after recovering from a bite that almost took his life away 500 years ago. Around 100 years ago, someone drained his blood and placed him in a coffin in an attempt to kill him. The act did not kill him but forced him into a dormant state until an accident caused him to be revived through the female lead's blood. With his memory of the last 20 years of his life from 100 years ago lost, he set out to regain his memory and exact revenge. Along the way, he managed to wiggle himself into the female lead's home, life and heart. This is a very entertaining drama and the use of comedy, exaggerated facial expressions and tongue-in-cheek type humour reminds me so much of the popular 'Go Princess Go' web-drama that had taken China and the world by storm! The female lead in My Amazing Boyfriend displayed similar characteristics as the female lead in GPG - loud, bossy, narcissistic, rude, funny, likes to curse, a bit of an airhead but can sometimes be amazingly clever and downright devious. The male lead, also similar to the male lead in GPG - quiet, calm, cold, intelligent, calculative and mature... a role that probably suited first time actor Kim Tae Hwan as it is a role that does not require much facial expressions.

Acting/Cast: I think it is fair and somewhat obvious to say that Wu Qian stole the show with her portrayal of the likeable character Tian Jing Zhi. She's the burst of sunshine - the vitamin booster that took this drama into a delightfully entertaining level. Her counterpart, first timer Kim Tae Hwan, however reeked of the deadpan-expressionless face of a first timer and for this fact alone, I ranked the acting lower. He has a long way to go to learn how to embrace a cold and quiet character without coming across as being 'woody'. I'll also like to fire the person who dressed him in that long black jacket style. It was unflattering and only emphasised just how tall and painfully thin he is. Granted, the guy's a model by profession - still there are ways to dress him up tastefully. His hairstyle was also unflattering and was actually quite distracting to me (it reminded me of a coconut on the head!). The rest of the cast did really well. Special mention goes to Fu Jia who acted the role of Tian Jing Zhi's cop ex-boyfriend. There's a bright future for this guy and I do hope the next time around, I'll see him acting as the male lead!

Music: The opening OST (Not Sacred by Just) is not my cup of tea and from the odd pronunciation, I guess it to be sung by a foreigner or at least someone who's native language is not Mandarin? I love the sad and slow ending OST though (Waiting For You).

Rewatch value: Pretty good re-watch value as there are many cute, funny and romantic scenes you might want to go back to again and again.

Overall: Good entertainment value. If you are looking for something light that makes you laugh and cry but has a story to tell the way "Go Princess Go" did, this is the drama to go to. The ending is....interesting and without giving anything away... it looks like we can expect a Season 2 or at least 1 or 2 special episodes after the drama ends???

I'll admit it right now, I only started watching it because it was supposedly inspired by My Love from the Stars.

But, I am glad that it really turned out to be quite different. I like certain remakes such as Full House Thai and the many different versions of Itazura Na Kiss, this wasn't a remake. Yeah, sure they picked out actors who looked similar and even their clothes were definitely taking after that drama, but, the characters became very different and I frankly forgot it was inspired by that drama.

I did not really like the ending, but, I am glad to hear about a sequel. I think this drama did not really need a sequel ten more minutes would have been sufficient, but, I think they might take a really good twist on it. Honestly, I do not really like Twilight so anything that is even sort of like that is a bad thing in my mind, but, it did not seem to have as much as a Twilight vibe as I thought.

Spoilers:
I loved the fact that she stole the turtle, but, I felt that it would have been better to see him show up and then a time skip happen with a kid, rather than she being pregnant while he was not there. I knew that she was going to get pregnant because they kept hinting at it during the show, but, I would have preferred an ending with him there beside her.

I really enjoyed the acting from all parties and I still think her mom looks like the mom from Adam's family. Anyway, if you like supernatural dramas such as My Love from the Stars, you will in general like My Amazing Boyfriend.

This drama could have been so much more...the synopsis and main idea were so intriguing! I feel like it was wasted. Would I recommend this? If you're bored and have nothing better to watch, sure, go ahead and be my guest. If you like modern romances with a fantasy twist, something along the lines of "You Who Came From The Stars" but a lesser version, then you'd like this.

I know, I know. My rating for this show is set at mediocre, even though I sorta enjoyed the drama. Why so low, you might ask? Here are my reasons:

1) The plot; holy shit were there plot holes everywhere. First off, the plot sorta dragged halfway through the show but really picked up momentum toward the end. Now and again, the story was so good, then it would take a weird ass u-turn or a sharp left and have oddly sweet moments, unnecessary flashbacks, or a "big" reveal that was pretty fucking obvious. So many questions with no practical answer. I mean, why weren't loose ends and certain things taken care of years ago so it can't be traced? And the reason for them living together just didn't make sense to me. He's suddenly fucking rich so why can't he just buy a damn house and live in it himself if he's so "used" to being alone? Whatever.

2) The silly acting and the voice dubbing; sometimes, the silliness was endearing and funny, reeling me into the show, and other times it threw me off and made me roll my eyes in annoyance. I mean, who the fuck laughs like that?

3) The characters and cast; the main actress had good facial reactions and I loved the main heroine in the beginning. She had some good, and sometimes hilarious, moments, but then annoyingly became a damsel in distress just so the emotionless, handsome, super hero main dude can show off his powers. Ugh. The Spock and The Loud One/Damsel-in-distress character tropes that are used way too often took over. Besides the cute dimples the main actor occasionally treated us to during the 'aww' moments, his character and background story wasn't really fascinating, either. Oh, and when I say show powers, I mean the camera tilting away and no real action is actually seen. You'd think a super hero with lots of strength, fighting skills, and speed could do a few cool stunts and show the audience some fighting sequence but nope. Good luck finding action in this film. The stories and character developments for the supporting actors and actresses were shit besides the antagonist. Cool character there; pretty real. YEAH RIGHT! If you're evil, be fucken evil. Or be crazy evil. The schemes the antagonist comes up with to entice the good guys was just child's play. My six year old little angel of a cousin could think of more evil methods and actions than the antagonist.

4) The ending; when I finally reached the ending, "finally" was the thought that flashed through my head. And then it ended in such a piece-of-shit sort of way. Like, WTH? It was so abrupt. I know the writers and directors did that to set the story up for the second season, which will be released some time in 2018 with totally different leads, but it still pissed me off that it ended like that. It could have been edited in a better way or concluded a little.

Anyway, regardless of the reasons I stated above, I guess I enjoyed it. It's one of those shows that doesn't necessarily require your full attention to watch and can be played in the background while finishing up other chores.

A super cute drama with loads of feel good and laughter. Based on a book called My Wonderful Boyfriend, the storyline reminds me a bit about My Girlfriend is a Gumiho. (The style and atmosphere is nothing like My Boyfriend from the Star. Don't listen to the false advertisement.) It's upbeat, sweet and cartoony. The acting is funny and the production value feels good. The love story is a bit muted and not really engaging, however the leads chemistry is nice. FemLead is very good at acting this type of char and style. The MaleLead is a novice actor but his character is easy to portrait (silent broody type) and once he starts smiling the dimples make me forgive everything.

The usual Cdrama issues applies like low audio quality and annoying dubbing.

Oh man.

To preface: I loved the first 3/4 of this drama. The story wasn’t that original or creative...I wasn’t really a huge fan of Ling Qiao (Monster Qiao) who was a cookie-cutter Supernatural male lead character (boring)...but I LOVED Tian Jing Zhi! She was hilarious and adorable. Even though she could be immature or naive I just enjoyed watching her interactions with the various different people in her life and how she persevere through all her misfortune with such resolve and good humor.

That all changed in the last ten episodes or so. I really started to dislike BOTH leads and found it difficult to get behind rooting for their success. The writing was an absolute mess and the story fell apart (in my opinion). It also had a terrible ending. I know they were leaving it open for a sequel but in hindsight it was a poor decision (because here we are, getting that sequel...with different actors). What a disappointing disaster.

Also, this has been said (I’m not sure if officially or unofficially) to be the Chinese version of the Korean drama "You Who Came From the Stars" but it is VERY different. Basically the only similarity is that she is an actress and he is a supernatural being. Otherwise: not at all the same. So I think it’s unfair to compare them.

I gave it 6 Stars because in the beginning it made me laugh but I still think that’s being generous. Boo.

Best show I’ve seen in 2022 so far. Yea I know it came out in 2016, and I watched it when I was younger and didn’t understand anything , but coming back to watch it years later and oh my god, this is one of the most best modern c-drama.

I think Janice Wu did an absolute wonderful job pulling off the character Tian Jingzhi, I’ve seen her drama on Skate into Love, and gotta say she’s really good at acting, the character, Tian Jingzhi is a really lovable person who has no filter.

The music is amazing, the male leads is also very handsome, and made the show better. Not to mention that what makes a show even more interesting is having good looking cast. Zhan Xuanxuan is also really beautiful, and the other male leads are also great.

Another thing I found really funny was, even though Hong Shiguang was the “bad person”, it was pretty easy to guess he was the bad person, like the very first time he saw Xue Lingqiao really gave it away. Absolutely loved this show, we need a better ending.

I heard that this one was inspired from "My Love From Another Star" I noticed the similarities but they are both unique. This drama supposed to be a romantic comedy but I don't really feel the chemistry and romance between the two main characters. The actor is Korean and because of that they put some dubbing and the lips gesture doesn't really match and it feels really weird. Maybe if they just cast a Chinese actor it would be better and their interaction would be more natural?  I am not really sure. Nevertheless, the ending is so disappointing they could have made it better!

Btw the girl here I found really hilarious just like the K-version and she's told as an actress!! So I think you guys can give it a try!!

I seriously hope they would make the second season!! #pray

Honestly, I'm fed off watching fully romantic dramas that's why I'm in search of something interesting or different from what I earlier watched. So after so many searches I found this drama which has the genre of fantasy, comedy+ romance.

Talking about the story which was awesome, I really like it. I also like the combination of suspense and romance. And it is good that one side they showed the the suspense part and other they showed the emotional part between the two main cast.
Talking about the cast I personally liked the character Tian Jingzhi (Jancie Wu ) and Li Yanzhi ( Jia Fu ).
I want they both to be get together but...

I'm watching this drama in 2020 that's why I know that the second part already aired in 2016 and I'm eger to watch it.

If you guys were also find something different from fully romantic like me than I recommend you this drama.
You can watch this on Vikki and YouTube with English subtitles.
Love from India❤️
