Mang Lai Kwan, wanting to seek knowledge despite her father's opposition, often dresses as a man to go to school. On her ventures, she meets the royal grandson Temür Khan who is travelling in disguise and also a straight-up young hero Wongpo Siu Wah and the three become adopted brothers. Although Temür sees through Lai Kwan's disguise, he does not expose her. Lai Kwan also has feelings for Temür. Her father arranges for her to marry Siu Wah, but at the same time, rich bully Lau Fui Bik asks for her hand in marriage. As the day of the marriage draws near, Lai Kwan decides to confess, but Temür is summoned back to the courts and asks Siu Wah to take his place to meet Lai Kwan. When Lai Kwan is stood up, she runs away. She later finds out that Siu Wah is her fiance and Temür has become the emperor of the Yuan Dynasty. When I read the synopses it reminded me of My Bratty Princess. Even though the stories start out similar, they each take their unique paths and develop and end differently.

Eternal Happiness is a gender-bender romance, but the other plots are just as important.

Some of the minor characters overacted a bit, or were lacking in skills, but the main characters were good actors.

The story gets more and more complicated, but is nicely tied up in the end. I was not able to guess from the first few episodes who she would end up with or where the story would take us next.

I would not rewatch it in the near future. The series did give me a lot of laughs, but not as many as My Bratty Princess (from which I still have tummy aches).

The music was okay. After 32 episodes it tends to stick with you. Maybe it would be different if I would understand what they were singing.

It is a series you can watch with your family: enjoyable, funny, lots of plotlines and nice ending. The romance is there, but it did not make my heart ache.

My first HK drama left me very satisfied. The main story has a good pacing and is nicely intertwined with subplots, and as soon as one problem is solved another crops up keeping me interested. I especially enjoyed that the lead kept up her disguise through the whole drama (with some lovely makeover scenes sprinkled through). Also the main male lead didn't figure out she was a female until well halfway (yet still didn't know who she really was, so trusting the sweet thing.) As a bonus he felt a bit conflicted about his feelings for "him" for a short while, which really suprized and delighted me.

The three main actors were all very good. In fact I enjoyed the whole ensemble. I find it lovely the way they moved, fought and talked. Good directing and choreography. Great backdrops, costumes and props. Very beautiful and immersive.

It reminded me a bit of My Bratty Princess, however, I actually enjoyed this one more. This might not be the best drama EVER, pretty stingy on skinship (didn't expect anything raunchy from HK to be fair), the dubbing can drive me insane (until I get used to it) and so on with the same problems as Chinese dramas. But if you are looking for something feel good, funny and a genderbender you might enjoy this.

Also: YAY for a strong independent female lead who can kick arse!
