I was left with so much feelings after watching this incredibly moving drama. Sice it's based on a true story it made the plot even more touching.

The story is very realistic, probably because it's based on the diaries of the female lead in the drama. All characters are unique and the actors bring out the feelings of their characters so good, I sometime got the feeling that it was some sort of twisted reality show.
The drama develops pretty slowly and at times it can be a bit annoying, but mainly it just adds more emotions to the story. You get to know the characters really well and if your own emotions never matches the ones they are expressing, then your heart is made out of rock!

One thing I didn't like about the story was the drama was the lack of information you got about the relationship between the female lead and the male lead. Also, I have to pick one point off of the overall score because of the moments when the tempo was a bit too slow.

If I hadn't drained all the liquid out of my body while crying to this drama I would re-watch again, very soon. But the list of dramas is long and this drama was really painful to watch at some times. I have learnt a whole lot from it though, and I hope you do the same.
Watch it!

This is my 2nd dorama! I watched it this year in January during my winter vacation. Prior to watching it, I had read the story in Wikipedia so I knew how it was going to end up as I have seen and heard several such stories. Yet I was curious to watch it because it seemed to be inspiring. I had lost inspiration to do my work and was in urgent need of it. And needless to say, this drama did inspire me a lot.

I love the entire cast. Whether the main leads or the supporting characters, all of them act brilliantly. There are many things about this drama that I love. Seeing the happy moments that Aya-chan (Sawajiri Erika) and her family have are a treat. Those moments made me smile. Not to mention, Nishikido Ryo has done an awesome job. In the beginning, I kinda didn't like him because he didn't show any emotions at all but later on, I just fell for him. The romance between Sawajiri Erika and Nishikido Ryo is simple and sweet. Romance doesn't need to be portrayed by hugs and kisses always. This drama also brings forth the low mentality of some people in our society, and how physically disabled people are looked down upon.

I gave this story a 9 because I was not satisfied with the ending. The last few minutes, I feel, were rushed. Also there is another fact about the ending which I dislike but I don't think it is correct to mention it here as it maybe considered as a spoiler.

The music is a full 10/10. I love the OST and whenever I listen to it, I become emotional.

I'd re-watch it someday but probably not now because every episode is fresh and vivid in my mind. I'll probably watch it again a year or two later when I'm in need of some inspiration.

Overall, this is a great drama series and it certainly should be in your list. Even if you hate tragic stories, you should give it a try.

If I had only one drama to recommend to someone to watch, it would be this drama. This drama is one that will make you cry in every single episode, so keep the Kleenex nearby. It will make the viewers truly thankful for their health and motivate them to have a more positive outlook on their life.

Sawajiri Erika is quite convincing as Ikeuchi Aya, the character upon which the entire drama rests upon. Nishikido Ryo also does a terrific job as Asou Haruto, Aya's semi-love interest in the drama. The chemistry and the progress between these two is very beautiful and realistic. Every character in this drama is wonderfully portrayed and goes through development.

Another thing to say, the music in this drama is amazing and touching. Every song fits the scenes and tone of the drama to perfection.

Highly recommended for everyone who wants to watch a meaningful and touching drama.

One of my all time favorite shows - even after watching it six times over the years, each time with different people, it stays just as charming and sad as the first time and no eyes stayed dry.

The acting was marvelous, and the music fit perfectly.

No matter what genre you like - give this a watch.

This drama is the best drama I've ever seen.
at the end of this, I had literally cried a liter of tears..
its such a moving and beautiful story, and it makes it even more powerful to know that its based on a real life story.!

one day I would love to watch this again, but I remember being half depressed a week after finishing this drama, that's how much of an impact this story left on me.

this is a must see for every one. it will leave you with the ability to feel a great deal of empathy.

Although I didn't cry until later in the series, this drama was breathtakingly beautiful and sad. Truly it is one of the most spectacular and finest dramas made by Japan. It's not one of the highest rated dramas for no reason. Don't hesitate because this drama doesn't lack much. It is based on a real story and although it deals with the depressing topic of sickness like lots of other dramas, the concept doesn't take away anything from the show. The story was finely written and flows like a ball of yarn rolling across the floor. It had everything, sadness, happiness, youth, and even some breezy romance. You'll learn not just a lot of medical things from the show but you'll also learn the value of a person's existence. The acting of the entire cast deserves a standing ovation especially Sawajiri Erika. The music is very sentimental and mellow which is perfect for the atmosphere of the show. The theme song "Human" by K is one of my favorite songs of all time. As for the rewatch value, I gave it a 6 because I don't think I could rewatch this drama many times like I can for Galileo. The roller coaster of emotions from episode to episode would be too much for me to handle. However, there might be that one Friday or Sunday night, when I can sit back against the wall by my bed and watch an episode of this drama. Overall, great show. Go ahead and watch it. It is definitely worth the watch!

This drama has got to be one of the saddest dramas I have ever seen. It's a true story and it really makes you cry from episode one 'til the end.

Because of this drama I am too gloomy, sad and my head hurts because I have cried a lot the last time I cried this much was after watching my sister's keeper oh and I think i am dehydrated too. Seriously re watch value zero because I don't think I can bare to watch it again.however I don't regret watching, it had some of the best acting I've seen in dramas. The story was simple yet so strong and moving its one you should watch. I really have nothing else except wow :(

1 litre of tears... the title is no joke.
What can I say? It's my favorite Asian drama of all time, and with good reason. The story (which is based off real events from Aya's dairy) transitions well onto this on screen drama about a girl who struggles with finding happiness within herself and seeing the ones she loves struggle with the obstacles that come with her disease.
Ericka Sawajiri's acting could not have been better, the way she portrayed the disease slowly progressing episode by episode was truly what made this drama feel so real. The supporting family actors were phenomenal as well, especially the father, mother, and older sister. They were the ones that gave insight on what a family has to deal with when someone is striken ill. Ryo Nishikido's character was a great fictional add on, the slight romance between him and Aya was simple and sweet...even if it made your heart burst.
Musical score was great, with many amazing acts and bands who's songs fit with every heart-wrenching scene and flowed with each tear.
This drama will make you question, "what if this was my family?" Which is why i think so many people can relate to it on an emotional level so well. GO WATCH IT :)

This drama made me cry a lot! I really dont like watching sad dramas! It's my friend's fault for introducing me this, after watching the first few episodes, i was hooked to see how cruel life is to some people, I couldnt stop watching because i hope to see how her life goes! However, I do not wish to watch it for the second time! Maybe only if I were too depressed i would rewatch this to cry with her fate...
