I really don't know what to say without being killed but I think this adaptation is what makes Itazura na Kiss get marked with a cross.Baek is one of the worst and cruelest Irie that could have been done. This takes many points away from this adaptation. Also, Kim Joon Hyung's acting is not remarkable at all. It is not bad but not good either.
Although I think the rest of the cast did very well and I really liked Oh Hani here. Like Baek's mom and brother (who I consider the best).
Although it must also be said that the worst Kin chan is the one from here. Besides being violent and brute, is also very cruel when Chris appears.
It's not the worst adaptation or anything but I don't think it's the best and more so when you enter the world of Itakiss.

Playful Kiss introduced me to the world of Kdrama (thankfully).
I stumbled across this on YT and from the plot it sounded interesting because i'm a sucker for storylines where the girl falls for the boy first BUT this one was not what i expected it to be.
Oh Ha Ni's Love for Baek Seung Jo was kinda more of a stalker thing, kinda weird and childish almost like it wasn't healthy for her.. He mistreated her -which made me dislike him at first but throughout the series you can feel he feels sorry for his behaviour towards her.
So, the Drama itself is pure and despite Ha Ni's unhealthy stalkery love it was a crazy, funny but sweet Drama. Totally would recommend to people who are new to KDramas. Loved the Ending.

Overall the drama was ok. The actors did a good job. Good music. A nice funny drama.
This drama brightens up my day. The foolishness of the characters will make you laugh.
What I didn't like or felt uncomftable with:
1) SeungJo cold as attitude.
2) Hani obsession with Seungjo.
Most of the episodes are just Hani following seungjo around. I was ok with it first, but then she always followed him which was getting creepy asf.
3) SeungJo mom.
Most of the time I like her because I also want Hani and Seungjo to be with each other. But then what kind of mother follows their son around and takes photos of them? She is sticking her nose into his business too much!
4) Hani doesn't have any pride
How can Hani still like Seungjo after discriminating her and hurting her so badly. She forgives him so quickly. E.g. After SeungJo hurt Hani he doesn't apologize, instead she makes her smile, then cut to next scene.
But again it's just a drama, it isn't suppose to feel real///
EDIT:
I watched the special episodes, they are so cute and funny. They changed my opinion on SeungJo. I highly recommend watching them!!

First of all, I started watching this Drama because I read a fanfiction which was inspired by the Drama and I got curious. I loved the beginning but after a while I felt that it got really long and I stopped watching it for a while.
But then after Episode 10 it got me again and I watched the last 6 episodes and cried so freaking much.
It is a cute Drama and I really enjoyed it, but I am not sure if I am going to check out the Japanese and Thai version of it.
Overall its a 9/10 for me because I laughed, cried and cringed with this Drama and that's everything a good Drama has to have for me.

I saw this show early on in my drama watching and it was the first of the "Itazura Na Kiss" incarnations that I saw. Honestly, after seeing most of the other versions (both Taiwanese and both Japanese versions) it's not my favorite version, but I do like it. Kim Hyun Joong plays the stoic and somewhat mean male lead well and Jung So Min's version of the female lead might be one of the better portrayals. However, while I really do like this show, it's falls short mostly because it doesn't give the full story. Since it stops just shortly into the marriage part of the story, you don't get to see the best parts of the story (in my opinion) which happen after the two characters are married. For that reason, you don't get to see the full change in the male lead or the best transformation of the female lead either.
That being said, the music is the best in this version and the production quality it probably the best of all the versions as well. It's definitely worth watching.

Story- No plot whatsoever, but if I enjoy the story I'll watch it, if you are looking for plot this drama is not right for you. Just a girl living with her crush and hoping for a chance with obstacles along the way. Characters- This is the weakest point of the story. I don't mind if the characters are cold or ignorant, because it makes the story interesting, but NOOOOO this drama lacks development. The protagonist is in a very delusional world, but she is very determined. The guy is similar to a typical Korean Drama Male lead, cold and bad at saying "I love you and such." The minor characters are the only good ones.
Realism- I added this for people who want a nice realistic and Slice Of Life kind of story. This drama is the MOST UNREALISTIC drama EVER. The girl has a crush like lots of people. But she manages to squeeze through spots that just shows us viewers how we can make it if we try our best. Its a good message but is too much considering her delusional way if thought.
Romance- I believe this may be the strongest point of the story, even some of them are just emotionless. But I don't want to give any spoilers.
Sound- This is the second strongest point of the drama. The it's is pretty good, light hearted, love, and sad all in the song.
Enjoyment- Before I can say anything. I like dramas where I can enjoy something, laugh, and does not care for any plot. This drama ruined it. My enjoyment was mostly frustrated. The girl has no common sense. The minor characters do a better job. The guy apparently has no flaws and is just a piece of paper that's perfect in every way. 1/10
This drama is for- People who want a pretty lighthearted and cute drama. And can handle the characters.
This drama is NOT for- Slice Of Life people and if you have Second Male Lead syndrome or prefer the nicer guys. Don't watch it.

Another old drama which didn't age well
What a painful watch. I don't know if it was the fact that it was 10 years old, the bad acting, the set up. I mean everything was bad.The chemistry between the two leads was as hot as ... well ice.
I was aching for this poor girl who had no shame of pursuing this cold guy who doesn't really give a crap about her. She's not really a good feminine role model. Kim Hyun Joong is playing the same role as in Boys over Flowers. He's got no emotions and no acting skills. I think he is now a happy singer so go for him. He's just a sweet face.
Jung So Min looks like a baby and it was probably one of her first gig. She looks stupid and awkward and it's deeply uncomfortable to see her lowering herself like that.
The mother was unbearable. She acted like a teenaged girl and was over meddling in a bad way in her son's every move.
This whole story is completely unreal and so badly played.
Sorry but that's a hard pass here...

This drama doesn't age well
There are great dramas that are ten years old, and then there are some that have not aged well. The themes and messages here - especially for women - are spent and should be retired immediately. I am SO OVER the tired, cliched, and frankly unhelpful trope of the cold, mean, and bordering on abusive ML, as well as a FL who basically spends the whole drama getting berated, shamed, and publicly humiliated by the ML. Not to mention being called "stupid", "not pretty", "dumb", and "only cute sometimes" by multiple family members throughout the drama - including the ML. Also, and this might be the worst for me, (slight spoiler), we get to witness a few other women make moves on the ML in front of the FL, and the ML did nothing, or next to nothing, to try to stop them, and on multiple occasions played along. (Slight spoiler: this could have been excused at the beginning of the drama, but most certainly not toward the end, where it became seriously inappropriate.)Much of the problem was also that not only did we hate the ML for being so nasty so often towards the FL, but the writernims did her not one single favor and made her about as ditsy, clumsy, clueless, and ridiculous as any character I've ever seen. There were no explanations given for why the FL was so "stupid" - but I imagine she had an undiagnosed learning disability, and it affected the way she learned and acted.
Everything she could possibly screw up, she did, everything she could drop, she dropped, everything she could be blamed for (even if it wasn't remotely her fault,) she got blamed for it, any situation could be turned into an opportunity to publicly humiliate her because of her actions, etc. She spoke like a baby for much of the drama, and at one point the sound of her voice actually started making me angry. It was like the viewers were being asked by the writers to join in the hate-fest for the FL because they just made it too easy. (That's not the actor's fault, necessarily, it's how she was directed and how the character was written.) These were not likable characters, in my opinion. And believe me, I tried.
There was also precious little overt kindness shown to the FL by the ML, and we didn't get much affection until the very end. (Again, slight spoiler: a very big life transition, which is supposed to be joyous, instead was permeated with coldness, and meanness, and even dread - it frankly ruined the whole thing for me.)
The cautionary tale here is that for 99.75% of the drama the FL had no life of her own, no ambition outside of orbiting around the ML like a planet, (that was even explicitly referenced), no capacity to exist outside of, or away from the ML, and no way to change his often-hateful behavior towards her. She was so insecure that she resorted to openly stalking the ML and exhibiting behavior that the viewers were expected to accept as cute and funny and romantic from her, but not from the SML or the SFL. It was a ludicrous way that women were treated in dramas, even just ten years ago, and I am so glad that we see less and less of this trope at present. It's just too damaging. To quite Kimmy Schmidt: "Females are strong as hell" and our media is starting to reflect that more, thankfully.
One positive thing I can say about the drama, is that it portrayed perseverance well...well, mostly well. I did not love that the FL was rewarded for her behavior during the years she had a one-sided obsession but I really did love her explanation of her nickname: Noah's Snail. Many of us have felt that way, and I did love that. But that was honestly the only thing.

Defined my childhood and changed the course of my life
And by that i mean i ended up chronically addicted to kdramas and random korean stuff beca use of which i spent years hunched over a screen and i got severe dry eye syndrome which i kept doing warm eye compress 'massages' for and rubbing my eyes which later (might have) given me keratoconus and then i had to get surgery done and my eyesight still sucks and my eyes still burn and i cant become a pilot anymore. But NONETHELESS.
This drama was my entire childhood.
I still remember how i found it. I was a weird child and i was searching up...uhm 'hot kiss scenes' on youtube because that was the closest thing to cornography i knew about, and i accidentally watched this. And I kept watching. And here i AM a decade later.
Controversially id give the acting and cast a 10 tho ill swipe off 1.5 to counter my inherent bias. This is because HANI MY Gworl carried the show. I wouldnt take her any other way. I know people hate her, think shespathetic(they have a point). But theres something so endearing about her. She's cute. The cutest
ugh.
People think she's a stalker?-WHERE??(except for the whole following hera around thing which was...creepy) but other than that she wasn't. that. Stalkeroo.
I watched an episode and flipped through parts of itazura na kiss 2013 which seems more liked, and it irked me how... sober the girl is there. For me what carries the show is the cringe. The consistent and CONSTANT second hand embarrassment you feel for hani. But you still feel for her. her tenacity/patheticness.
itazura 2013 just felt like playful kiss minus all the personality.
As far as I'm concerned playful kiss IS the original. The standard.
Yeah the plot is substandard at best BUT guess what i dont care. They pull it off and i smiled every minute
I thought now that im 'grown', id dislike the show more since everyone else does, but surprisingly i like it even more.
The guy is an insufferable asshole though.
I do hate the last three episodes though. The sudden marriage thing was incredibly stupid and made my rating plummet into the negativesBUT i watched the youtube special season for after their marriage, which more than compensates for that. I thought theyd suck for each other but they set off each other really well and thankfully the boy is less dicque-y. Lemme just act like the last three episodes never happened.
Now that i have 'grown', i do think the mother in law is awful.

And the brother of male lead too, the girl doing that much stuff for him and he still not considered her good intentions.
Main problem of this drama was it's script and it's characters. Which was so bad.
If you can't watch a girl chasing a boy like crazy and gave up her self respect. You shouldn't watch it. ???
