Growing up, I used to watch Chinese movies, like House of Flying Daggers and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and Kaneshiro Takeshi was the first Asian movie star I loved. Fast forwarding many years later - my first Korean movie was Love Guide for Dumpees, and I watched it almost accidentally while I was doing research for a graduate thesis. I was instantly intrigued and shortly afterwards I watched my first two K-dramas, Secret Love Affair and Stranger...and that was that.
