The film stars Oguri Shun as an experienced mountain climber and rescue team volunteer named Shimazaki Sanpo. Sanpo loves the mountains and wants as many people as possible to experience everything they have to offer—so much so that he never holds a grudge against anyone for causing an accident due to their own negligence. Even if a fellow rescuer dies, he's the kind of man who can look toward the corpse and say "You did your best." One spring, newcomer Shiina Kumi (Nagasawa Masami) is assigned to the Nagano prefecture mountain rescue team where she experiences growth thanks to Sanpo's guidance and the seemingly harsh training methods of the team's captain, Noda (Sasaki Kuranosuke). However, she becomes depressed when she's unable to translate her skills to a real-life situation. As her confidence wanes, multiple accidents occur simultaneously due to a mountain blizzard, forcing the entire team into action. Edit Translation

A typical mountaineering/adventure movie...nothing is special about the story that draws attention...a casual kinda plot-line that we usually see in mountaineering movies!

Cast was alright...and music too! nothing top notch but just perfect along the storyline!

But, what drew my attention was Shun's acting! You won't see that typical Shun here with an introvert character, but something totally different from his usual genre! He was cheerful...actually more than cheerful! hmmm...what should I say to make it exact?! hmmm...maybe a "feisty" kinda character...which somehow went JUST FINE with him!! and that's what made me give more attention to the movie! And, guess what...I enjoyed it...from the second I saw Shun smiling...if I'm to note exactly then from 07.54min of the movie 'till the end...haha!! His smile was really something...watch the movie and you'll know exactly what I'm trying to say!!

Happy WATCHING!!! ^o^*

This is a pretty cool movie. It even had me thinking (for all of 5 minutes) that maybe I should try mountain climbing. Ha.

If you're into mountains and/or rescue themed movies, you might enjoy this one. The first five minutes alone are full of beautiful snow-capped mountains and riveting camera shots. Maybe this idea has been done already, but as I was watching the film, I thought this could be a cool drama. Each episode would revolve around a set of characters who at some point, need to be rescued from the mountain.

I recently watched Oguri in a movie where he plays an introvert with anxiety issues. In this movie, he plays Sanpo, an optimistic mountaineer who smiles even in the face of death and adversity. Seeing him excel at playing characters with opposite personalities just amazes me. He is truly a versatile actor.

Nagasawa also does a decent job of playing Kumi. I think, however, the writers could have downplayed her naiveté. It just seemed unrealistic to have an inexperienced newbie join such a demanding rescue squad without a better understanding of what she was getting herself into.

Pros
Oguri, breathtaking snow-capped mountains, rescue scenes, and a portrayal of having a positive outlook

Cons
The movie drags at times and many of the characters seemed a bit two-dimensional for my taste
