Appreciating the Simple Things in Life
I finished Mangaban Nobushi no Gurume in one sitting and was pleasantly satisfied. The samurai was what attracted me to the drama in the first place. I saw a short trailer for it on Netflix, and it immediately drew me in. I thought it was an interesting idea for a culinary drama, so I gave it a shot. It's safe to say it didn't disappoint me. The drama isn't spectacular, but it does hit the marks for a solid slice-of-life drama.Kasumi Takeshi (Takenaka Naoto) is a 60-year-old man who recently retired. We follow his journey to new destinations and we meet a variety of people on the way. Personally, I think some of people he met along the way were uninteresting. The writers could have done a much better job in that regard. On a positive note, his enthusiasm for the cuisines is contagious wherever he goes. Even if it's just a simple lunch box, as long as the atmosphere is good, he'll enjoy the food. I also like how he found love in simple things like sitting alone with a cup of coffee and reading a book. Takenaka Naoto, who played Kasimi Takeshi, did a very good job. However, I thought he was overacting a lil bit.
I also enjoyed the flashbacks to his past. They were relevant in showing the audience why he loves a certain food so much. One of his quotes that made me think back on special memories was this,
“They may look and taste simple, but they are still special and full of memories. I'm sure there’s a food for everyone that’s like what this croquette is to me.”
That is true not only for food but also for favorite books, movies, and so on. Even if the food isn't special to others, it is to you because of the memories you have associated with it. I think it's a lovely quote that makes us think back on good times.
Of course, I can't talk about food without mentioning how delicious it looked. It’s my favorite aspect of the drama. The cinematography was also excellent. In fact, it took me by surprise. The scenic and cuisine cinematography was visually appealing and created a soothing atmosphere. The music is also enchanting and magical, which added to the drama's atmosphere. Also, the samurai concept is unquestionably the most distinctive aspect of this drama. In every episode, the samurai appears for a brief moment, and it's always entertaining to watch.
All in all, I recommend it to anyone looking for a short, sweet, and entertaining drama.

O Jdrama que sempre quis assistir
Ah eu nem sei por onde começar a falar sobre esse drama, acabo de finalizá-lo e estou muito satisfeita com o que vi.Não tenho uma história de sucesso com Doramas que tenham essa temática de comida. E olha que já tentei vários , mas nenhum deles atendeu sequer um pouco das minhas expectativas. Cheguei a pensar em desistir de assistir esse gênero, mas quando vi esse Jdrama no catálogo da Netflix algo me disse para dar uma chance . Quem sabe não seria dessa vez que realizaria esse meu sonho secreto?
E foi justamente isso que aconteceu com: Samurai Gourmet. Ele me entregou exatamente aquilo que sempre esperei ver, isto é, algo que me entregasse essa temática de uma forma leve e descontraída; sem personagens irritantes ou antipáticos, sem enrolações desnecessárias.
Se eu tivesse que resumir esse Jdrama em uma frase, certamente diria: Samurai Gourmet é um dorama bem simples e direto ao ponto. Algo que consegue acompanhar a jornada gastronômica de senhor aposentado sem incorrer em exageros em momento algum.
Vale destacar que mesmo que você não se interesse por esse tema culinário, a história do protagonista em si é bem interessante. Aqui temos um homem que após passar muitos anos de sua vida trabalhando, finalmente se aposenta e resolve passar seus longos dias apreciando aquilo que mais ama: a comida. Em cada episódio ele experimenta um sabor diferente, visita restaurantes que nem sequer sabia da existência enquanto estava absorvido em sua corrida rotina de trabalho.
E, nos momentos em que ele se sente oprimido pelas convenções sociais de como se portar a mesa, ou do que pode fazer ou não agora que uma nova etapa de sua vida começa. Em sua imaginação, sempre surge um Samurai valente para lhe dar coragem de agir como realmente quer.
As comidas são de dar água na boca, e os meus momentos favoritos foram definitivamente aqueles em que ele experimenta comidas que remetem a sua infância. Tem coisa mais prazerosa que comer algo que lhe traga de volta boas recordações de sua infância?
O enredo em si é quase um monologo já que uma vez que fomos apresentados ao protagonista praticamente passamos todos os episódios concentrados em suas ações e reações. Mas nada disso me levou a ficar entediada ou com preguiça de assistir o próximo episódio.
Não sei se esse drama agradaria todos os gostos, porque existem poucos personagens, e nenhum deles é um vilão, muito menos temos aqui o desenvolvimento de um romance com os clássicos clichês que acompanham o gênero. Mas mesmo que esses sejam elementos importantes para você, ainda assim eu diria que vale a pena assistir Samurai Gourmet naqueles dias cansativos e estressantes que te fazem querer assistir algo para te ajudar a acalmar os ânimos.
