It gives the viewer the feeling that both are a direct continuation of the war. With the same technical quality!

Both are war movies which show the brutality of the korean war. Furthermore they are highlighting the disaster of fighting against your own people (your "national brothers") and what happens to the families of such a split country. If you are interested in korean history you absolutly have to watch them both!
