Awkward pacing and uninspiring art direction.

The episode for the most part is utterly mediocre. It fails to create momentum nor does it ride on the rising tension. The show fails to pace both the first and second episode creating a seemingly episodic narrative, which is counter intuitive especially when a crucial over arching storyline has been revealed in the first ep.

This episode does create ample character development. Inai's dark past (hinted at) and Tamaru's relationship with whomever that lass is. Exposition to the mysterious character revealed at the beginning of the show. The episode did well in this department, but fails to recoup in other categories. Primarily the art direction gets redundant. The choice of static shots over chase or one takes ruins the thrill or suspense to the experience. Camera cuts are abrupt and poorly done, it sometimes just feels like a couple of video clips played on shuffle.

The cliche dialogues which ruin the otherwise great cast. Metaphorical talks and abstract wording, such do take away from the more down to earth realism from the show and just makes it look so very scripted, it fails to encapsulate you into the experience. Fight scenes like always is done extremely well. Even though some scenes are far from realistic, it still makes up for cool set pieces that keep you on the edge of your seat.

The soundtrack so far has little to no variation. At every moment an epic orchestral soundtrack is blasted in your ears, a couple of ambient dynamic music in the background would help. Scenes which would work extremely well with minimal instrumentals are instead treated with over the top action sequence music. Overall, sub par.
