People gather at a split-level flat on a backstreet of Roppongi, Tokyo, men pay ¥20,000, women ¥1,000 and couples ¥5,000 apiece to spend the hours of midnight to 5 a.m. at a sex party. A moody Neet guy empties out his bank account for this night of pleasure, and a bespectacled college student who at first impresses as mousy and shy join the party. Presiding over this orgy are a jaded manager and bartender who explain and enforce three simple rules: Take showers prior to sex, use protection and respect the wishes of the women. Most dangerously, the Neet guy is falling quietly and hard for the student, who reveals herself as the horniest of all, while never quite breaking out of her shell.

I find it similar because it’s also dark, school setting, and have gore. There were plot twists and some characters were crazy. I recommend you to watch it.

Both movie have a bullied gay male main character, who comes across a dead body on a field. Things go kinda crazy

Both are using this technique where characters are talking in front a camera, a nice technique to show where these characters are coming from. Sixteen and River's edge are both teen angst driven, the latter is just more messy, has older set of characters, and better acted.

Both are about teens’ messed up situations and how they view life. Both movies are set in a rural place with river.

Both movies were adapted from manga by the same mangaka. Theyre heavy, dramatic and kind of strange films with dark themes and imagery. There is a recurring character (Yoshikawa Kozue) that connects both stories.

Both movie follow students navigating life's horrors, struggling with exclusion, bullying, mental illness, death etc. Both films employ unique artistic direction.

both movies were directed by the same person, have a similar feel and dont look like your typical movie (Pink and Grey's second half is mostly shot in black and white, River's Edge has interviews of the characters sprinkled inbetween and also 4:3 format). Also the characters tend to be kind of fucked up.

A high school boy and girl: Itsuki Kamiyama and Yoru Morino are "GOTH," who have an obsessive interest in the dark side of humankind. One day, Yoru picks up a note in a cafe that serves as the meeting ground for geeks. Included on the note are all the details about the bizarre murder cases that have occurred in many places recently. Intrigued by the cases, she asks Itsuki to go to one of a homicide scene, where they go in search of an unfound dead body.
