The story follows a child bride turned widow, Dou E, who is wrongly convicted of crimes by a corrupt court official for actions perpetrated by a rejected suitor, Mule Zhang. After her execution, three prophesied phenomena occur to prove her innocence, including blood raining from the sky, snow in June and a three-year drought. After a visit from the ghost of Dou E, her father eventually brings the corrupt court official, a doctor and Mule Zhang to justice, thereby vindicating his daughter. MOVIE: Snow in Mid Summer (2017). This spooky crime investigation from a historical period is incredibly heart wrenching yet satisfying. A young woman is framed and executed for murder. She predicts 3 things at her execution: blood on a white flag; snow in mid summer; and a 3 year drought. All predictions come true and her ghost begins terrorizing her town. A magistrate is sent to investigate, and detail by detail, he finds the truth, and more.Wang Li Ke plays the wronged woman, Dou'E and Xin Zhi Qiu plays Zhou Tian Zhang. Great acting all around. When the snow falls, your blood freezes.
EXCELLENT movie! Highly recommended.
