I hesitated a lot before I started watching this ... why ? Because I hate love triangles.
The whole thing about the pure ordinary girl who suddenly has two handsome men vying for her was just getting on my nerves. Especially if she had a hard time choosing and was just dragging both along.

However here its done perfectly. She isn't dumb or mean. She doesn't want to drag anyone along.
The story was just amazing. It was sweet dramatic and yes sometimes sad. Especially the demon princess my heart goes out to her. But if was beautiful. Not too much jealously, not too much political scheming ( which I hate when it comes to a point where I have no idea what's even going on anymore ) . Its an A+ story and its has a happy ending which is so important for me.

The chemistry between the leads is amazing. He loves her and you can notice it. Later one when she also falls for him you can see it and you can see her struggle.
I love him as an actor but the female main lead takes the cake on this drama. She portrays the innocent one at the start so well and shows the character growth. Honestly I have completely fallen in love with her acting.

The music was also great to support the story and its wasn't overbearing.

The only critic I have is not even with the drama. I watched this drama on Viki and if you also plan to do this, let me advise you of one thing. DONT AND I REPEAT DONT READ THE SUMMARY!!!! It's a major spoiler. It spoilers one of the best plot twists in the entire drama.... so don't read it .

To someone who is unsure let me tell you this drama won't waste your time. It will be fun amazing and even make you think. And overall its funny and cute and romantic. Im really asking how can you not love this drama ?

100%

At first I was really hesitant to watch this series. I'm not into fantasy and I thought the first few episodes were kinda cringy( well I'm still not used to it) but after few episodes! I can totally say that this series is a master piece. Made me laugh and burst me to tears. For me 63 episodes wasn't enough HASHAHA I they did it until a 100 episodes. It was all worth it. I can defitely say this is one of the best series I've ever watched.

Ps. I also watch a lot of korean, japanes and thailand series. I'm really glad to have seen this master piece.

THE best Chinese drama

Where do I begin. Ashes of love is the epitome of a good Fantasy drama. Everything about it was perfect

Story
The story was beautiful, engaging and overall enjoyable. The plot twists had me shocked, the love triangle left me frustrated and main leads had me falling in love. The constant theme of love vs power left me hanging on the edge of my seat wondering who is going to betray who next and is it for power or love. And don't get me started on how much I cried throughout the show.

Acting
Personally I haven't watched a lot of Chinese dramas where I thought the acting was very good but this is THE exception. Deng Lun and Yang zi did an amazing job as well as the rest of the cast.

Rewatch
Although this show has over 60 episodes I've re-watched it 3 times. Especially the part when Xu Feng and Jinmi are sent to earth as a test of fate.

The only complaint I have is that there was too much Runyu and not enough Xu Feng towards the end. I did NOT have SML very far from it. A character has never angered me so much. If he wasn't so annoying I'd probably give the show a 10

Ashes of Love. Where do I even begin? I have watched countless dramas and I rarely give 10s. Even when I give 10s, they are never perfect 10s. Ashes of Love is a PERFECT 10. Before I start my review of this drama, let me be upfront and say that I had my reservations about it. Most of the dramas I watch are set in a more modern setting and are more realistic than this. Though I have watched dramas like While You Were Sleeping (Korean drama) which dabble in supernatural elements, I normally don’t watch full on supernatural or mythical dramas. I came across this drama when I was reviewing a list of the dramas that people deemed the best of 2018. I watched the trailer and put it on my watchlist and I am glad I did.

The first episode itself hooked me. The chemistry between the main characters, the story line, and the incredible actors all made me want to continue watching. As I kept on watching (more like binging) the episodes, I fell more and more in love with it all. I will admit, there were times when I was beyond frustrated. I was frustrated that the Yun Elixir prevented Jinmi from loving phoenix (Xu Feng). I was initially frustrated by how naïve and indifferent to love Jinmi was, despite knowing that it was not her fault. I was mad at the late floral immortal who put the Yun Elixir in Jinmi to keep her from loving anyone. However, all my frustration was worth it. When that stupid elixir finally broke and Jinmi finally realized that she loved Xu Feng, I felt as if her emotions were my own. And this is a big deal. I have NEVER cried during watching a drama. But this drama made me cry, laugh, scream, and everything in between. The credit goes to the incredible actors who will make you feel as if THEIR pain is YOUR pain.

Personally speaking, I think my favorite part of this 63-episode long show were the episodes that showed Jinmi’s trial in the mortal world. HOLY CRAP. The chemistry between Xu Feng and Jinmi in those episodes is ridiculous. When she admits to liking him (in the mortal world) and he asks her to marry him, I couldn’t stop crying. The pain of waiting and watching the before episodes was definitely worth it. Another aspect that made this show great was the villains. I have never hated any character as much as I hated the Heavenly Empress. She is a scheming and conniving lady who is utterly ruthless. Her and Sui He (bird lady) plot and scheme together so much and it annoyed me greatly. Don’t even get me started on the Night Immortal. He knew that Jinmi didn’t love him and yet took advantage of her ignorance of love to get her to agree to marry him which led to an excruciatingly painful love triangle. However, at points you find yourself sympathizing and even admiring these villain characters. That’s how good the actors were. Sui He and Fish Fairy (Runyu-Night Immortal) were the most tragic characters in my opinion. They both loved someone who didn’t love them back and it drove them to do evil things. Normally, when I binge shows, if I have time I fly through the episodes. With this show, I kept having to take breaks despite having time to watch because the episodes were so emotionally charged. I had to stop and let my heart adjust before I could watch anymore of the show. That is how affected I was. The characters are all dynamic and develop so much as the show goes on. Runyu changes from someone who is kind and merciful to someone who is cold and rather ruthless. Jinmi changes from being naïve and innocent to someone who discovers her love only after she’s lost it. While this show has a happy ending, there were points in the middle where I was seriously doubting it.

All in all, if you have any sort of reservations about this show, LET THEM GO. SEND THEM OUT THE DOOR. If I could love this drama this much and cry over it, you will absolutely enjoy it. The plot is incredible, and I honestly wish I could read/speak Chinese so that I could more fully appreciate the attention to detail instead of relying on subtitles. THE MUSIC WAS GOLDEN. By the end of the show, I could sing sections of the main song. Also, if anyone knows where I can buy an English version of the novel that this show was based off of, please let me know.

protagonistas entendiantes.

Okay, so I'm going through a lot of emotions right now. It was one hell of an exciting rollar coaster ride. I don't usually write reviews, but this drama gave me so much to feel that I had to write one.

Firstly, if you are looking for any kind of drama to watch, don't think further and start it already and trust me you'll not regret it.

This drama is packed with literally every single emotion. You'll smile, laugh, cry and scream. I hope you give this drama a go.

It was also my first time ever to enjoy a Chinese Drama. I always found C-Drama to be boring and too dragged, but this wasn't like the usual C-Dramas. This was just too different and too amazing. ❤️????

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!

This was probably the second cdrama i watched after The Untamed, and it did NOT DISAPPOINT. the beginning is a little bit slow and confusing, but after you watch a bit, you will understand the beginning. the chemistry, acting, and the plot is so good. its engaging, fun, and overall an absolute gem. although the romance is a little bit fast paced at first, especially for me, a person who really liked slowburn - it is worth it. it made me laugh, cry, and smile SO MUCH. they feelings conveyed was sod!@!@?#> so good. the actors did amazing! a drama with heart break, betrayal, misunderstanding, and SUCH a good love triangle with a happy ending is this one. it was not draggy and i did not skip ANY scenes. although the second FL was annoying, and i tend to skip SFL scenes, i did not with her. her acting was on-point and so good. overall, a 10/10 drama from the OST to production. I RECOMMEND IT SM SM !!!

Ashes of Love is a Chinese drama based on the xianxia novel "Heavy Sweetness, Ash-like Frost" by Dian Xian. It is about the amazing love story of the Heavenly Emperor's second son Xu Feng and the Flower Deity's daughter Jin Mi. The cast of this drama was great at portraying their characters, and the male lead and female lead had amazing chemistry with each other. The soundtrack of this drama was so beautiful that listening to it gave me eargasms, and it also fit the drama very well. The only reason why I only gave 7.5 as the rewatch value is because it is a long drama (60 episodes each an hour in length) so it will be hard for me to find time to watch the whole drama again. I would totally recommend this drama to everyone even to those who don't usually watch Chinese dramas and romantic fantasy dramas.

Superb....
Contains romance, brotherly love, affection, caring, pain, sorrow, death and many more
Seems like all in one package
Phoenix and jinmi 's love is always full with breakdowns. But their love defeated their destiny.
Costumes are great. Xu feng's cotume is the best. His hair style matchs perfectly with his costume.
All realms are nicely arranged. Demon realm is the best. Songs are great and heart touching.
All actors and actresses act naturally.
Story is great. But there are many sad moments in the story. So, I feel very sad. Yet the end says us that what is the meaning of LOVE.
So this story has a great meaning. Love is not something we can get if we can't sacrifice.
Therefore I love this drama series very much.
This is my first time writing a review.

I really loved watching Ashes of Love! It was so funny and gave me all the feels.

What I loved:
- Loved the romance between the main leads, Phoenix is so awesome!!
- I definitely felt for Night deity....also really loved his acting which was amazing
- Even all the supporting characters were delightful

Could have been better:
There subplots w/ secondary character romances were a bit much though.

This is probably my favorite drama of all time lol. Was definitely obsessed with this drama for a good long while

Decent but Amazing OST

The show was long with 63 episodes, which may be boring for some people. I think the casting was pretty good, but the script was a bit lacking. The OST was AMAZING. However, one thing I disliked was the fact that Jin Mi always needed saving. It was like she couldn't do anything that didn't involve one of the love interests or some supporting character helping her. The ending does make this better, and you will need a lot of tissues to watch this.

One of the best dramas

At first, I was really skeptical about this drama because I usually do not like these types of dramas and I thought that I would've dropped it but it was the total opposite I was glued to the screen. Every scene was so interesting to me and the acting and the music really hit me hard. It's safe to say that I felt every type of emotion while watching this drama. I'm still trying to recover from how great this drama was and I genuinely don't know what to watch next because I'm not sure if anything else can top this drama
