Good story and beautiful cast- I recommend as a pass time drama

I started watching this to pass time while waiting for my other shows. I thought the first few episodes were just okay, then the story got better before reaching a cycle of repeated elements and crashing in the final episode. The characters however, were interesting enough to see it through to the end. The second couple had more chemistry and an even more interesting story line than the main couple. I grew to love many side characters like General Li, Chu Yuanzhi, Touer and the crown prince. I really like that the crown prince always stood up for himself and pursued what he wanted unlike in many other dramas. The comedic relief in the drama were well placed and not over the top. The ending sucked as is the norm for most Chinese time dramas but hey, we get a S2. There were plots that were never explained (e.g. the Empress), and the time passage was unclear. I lost interest in the main couple's love story halfway through the series. It lacked depth and freshness due to the overused plot and many repeated tropes.

As for the acting, the actors playing Hao Yue and princess Ying did a fantastic job at conveying emotions. However, I got too distracted with Chen Bolin's over-exaggerated facial expressions. His "angry" face especially got me cringing every time. I thought Jing Tian's acting was okay although I must say, her acting in the god realm was more fluid. Her crying scenes were somewhat unbelievable in the earthly realm and I couldn't empathize with her character...especially because she cried every 3 episodes or so after meeting Zhong Tian and this did not suit the strong, independent character we were made to believe she was. I will only be watching S2 because of the second couple. Hopefully the story is better.

Review for both seasons together

This is a fairly good drama. The plot had a lot of potential but the storyline between the lead couple had the same elements even though there were centuries in between each existence. The acting is good for the most part but the feelings are not well developed. Zhang Yi Jie (as Hao Yue and Lei Hao-Season 2) and Lai Yu Meng (as Princess Li Ying and Wei Yong Qian- Season 2) had a great storyline and very good chemistry. The first season was more entertaining and the characters were better developed; the CGI’s and the music were great and the action was nice. On the second season, the characters lost depth and luster due to the overused plot. Even though this is not a drama with strong re-watch value, it’s still entertaining.

I had to struggle to finish it

I really wanted to like King of Blaze, but 5 episodes before the end of Part 1, i have completely lost any sympathy for the lead actors. They are wooden, no passion. And that guy Hao Yue is totally miscast. He becomes a "general"? Please! He's just a stupid little boy who keeps his mouth hanging open with that stupid look. I cringed when he kissed the princess, yuk!
In Part 2, Tong Feng knows danger looms around her - AND YET SHE OPENS HER FRONT DOOR IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT WITHOUT CHECKING!!! It's not rational. And Lei Hao recovered from his "brain surgery" with A HEAD FULL OF HAIR and only a band aid to cover his "wound". Do you really believe that your viewers are stupid? Perhaps I've been spoiled by high quality dramas like Eternal Love and Ashes of Love, and I tried to give King of Bkaze a chance. But I simply wasted my time.

About the ending - what happened to the Immortal World? What happened to the bad guy, did he die? How did Yin Le return to Earth? It feels like his sudden reappearance at the last 10 seconds of the last episode was forced. Instead of showing those sappy flashbacks that serve no purpose whatsoever, they could have shown his journey back to Earth. So unsatisfying.

Very Beautiful Drama

In my opinion, the series has a lovely storyline. The love tale is exquisite on its own, but how much nicer does it become when you add intense action? The story was set in the ancient era, which leaves me feeling even more special. The fantasy added spice to the plot because both the male and female leads portrayed excellent, powerful, and amazing characters. They have done an excellent job in their respective roles.

I've already watched it three times, and it's fantastic. This is a must-see for everyone who enjoys historical, action, fantasy, or romance dramas.

Story
The plot, as already stated, is excellent. You'd be captivated by the romance and tragedy.

Cast
The actors are excellent in their respective roles. The series features four strong leads, which contributes to its appeal.

Setting
The story is set in ancient times.

Ending
It may be disappointing to say that things did not finish as I had hoped. But fret not, Season 2 of this series is accessible.

Entertaining

It is well done, god acting. Keeps the attention fix. I recommended the audience not to take translation to heart, there are translating flaws maybe cuz the wording have no exact substitute. Overall is a fairly good drama.

A great storyline. Great Visuals on the first season. The storyline is a little bit different than what I'm used to viewing in these dramas. Coming back to life or being reincarnated with having the memories of the previous life in your dreams is a great story. The costumes I loved, were not gaudy by realistic for that time era. Thank you for not making the hairdo's so out there. The music was also great. My first time seeing Bolin Chen in the main lead, pretty awesome. Romance chemistry was there. I think all of the cast did great. One actress was so believable, I just wanted to snatch her off the screen and scold her... she played the spoiled brat to a tee! Great job. Thank you to the cast, producers writers, and team!

I wouldn't even give a single star if it the Male MC isn't as rare as phoenix's feathers to get into a drama as all the dramas have weak and naive female Main character waiting to be bedded with two male lovers in a love triangle instead of increasing their strength to stay alive. Disappointed! It was one of the drama that gave me hope. But as the saying goes the greater the expectation the greater the disappointment. He was the Fire god previously? Don't joke. He can't even do a shit. He looks handsome? Don't joke around. How good would it be if there was any character growth with cultivation stages? How good would it be if the MC was OP. I started to watch this drama because I thought that MC is OP. But it seems author doesn't know how to handle OP MC, so he made MC weak despite having the title of fire god. It's not easy to twist an intelligent MC who is also OP, around the plot. Which is why many authors give their MCs flaws, making them dumb and weak. Why must he stay and wait for himself to be captured? Why must he let him be on the crime spot despite being able to teleport? Why must he not try to get the fire mirror instead of standing dumbfounded on the spot? where did his previous lives fire gods wisdom go? Forced plot.Forced plot.Forced plot.Forced plot.

Your stereotypical Wuxia show, "The King of Blaze" is an ok story to pass the time.

Nothing new about the story... the leading man is an almighty Xian who came to earth and met other Xian's he used to know back in heaven and got reincarnated on earth. They journeyed together, fought evil. The usual.

As a Zhang Yi Jie fan I naturally find the storyline of the second couple more interesting. The writing of his story as a secondary character was not overly restricted by the plot and was very enjoyable in itself. I like how the reincarnation (his relationship with the princess) was played out. The casting was very spot on. His acting was quite developed in this show and it was really fun to watch (unfortunately, this is not the case with the sequel). This project was possibly his passport into the world of Chinese showbiz.

I'd watch the show for the second couple alone.

Its so nice. Deserve at least 8 stars in overall rating

"Review of SEASON 1

Before watching, I have to tell you that the male lead isn't the typical very handsome man with jadelike skin. Dont set high expectations with regards to beauty of the characters (except water god. She is pretty haha) But still, I think its unfair to call the male lead ugly.
Despite the not typical pretty characters, the story is very nice and decent with unpredictable plot twist
(SPOILER ALERT e.g. one of domain god is son of tianheng,)
There was little to no illogical plot. The story got me hooked. Idk why this drama got critical reviews. I love the uniqueness of this drama!
Notes:
1. There were love triangles in the story too but they are not really focused there. (Daughter of general Pei has few screen time. Tolerable)
2. Some might complain that the ML likes to distance himself from female lead.
3. The female lead is not really a damsel in distress for me. She is not totally useless in fights though she gets hurt. Even male lead can get hurt too. This is actually one thing I like about the drama. They've not always strong cause that's more real.

Have struggled to continue

Already in ep. 8 I struggled to continue to watch, but I gave a chance to watch further with expectation it will more get better but after all I ended in ep.15. The story lines is getting annoying and unclear explanation . Lead actors lacked of passions, expression and chemistry.
ML as previously Fire of God even with his current power, is weak, he looks most of the time like not confidence of his own strength during fighting, and also not very smart to think and solve a problem. FL acts a tough strong woman but actually weak and naive.
Annoying me both ML and FL as main characters many times fainted? Seriously? 🤦
Other characters are more stronger than them. 🤷 Main characters knew how strong the enemy, rather they do cultivation to increase their strength and power, their more concern abt their personal feeling.
Hao Yue characters is too annoying and dumb. where he didn't change since he experienced and aware of the situation.
Bottom line, disappointing.
