The storyline is perfectly done, it really build up our emotion to see the friendship of those 4 friends. The story is not lacking nor exaggerated. It also have unpredictable storyline which you cannot expect it.
The story have combination of action, friendship and a bit of suspense.
The acting also are superb. Jang Dong Gun played his roles well in this movie, one of his best performance.
Oh Young Su as a gangster & loyal friend also makes me cry for him.
What I like from this movie??
-the flow of the story
-the two main characters,(Jong Suk & Dong Su)
-the climax which brilliantly done.

Yet another example of how school, family and society shapes a person. How these kids get hit and slapped when they do something wrong as a punish, how parents are blamed for these actions and how they fall in society's pitfalls because of the life they're born in to and how they're forced to live it.
"If we went to the same middle school, I would have been in the right direction.
Competition is prevalent is a place where you have to be the best—to survive. And because of that, relationships are sacrificed.
While friendship is an overarching theme, Friend doesn't start with melodrama.
The greatest act of friendship is probably punishing yourself out of the shame and humiliation because you cannot save your friend even if you have the power.
Friend doesn't try too hard. It's straightforward, it's simple and it gets what it wants to across. Perhaps, it just drags on too much where the later part (when they have grown up) feels lopsided compared to when they were younger. Ultimately, that suffers. But the power is in portraying its characters.

I'll admit that I only saw it because I want to see the squeal (mainly because Kim Woo Bin stars in it) and I felt that watching the first one would help me understand the movie better.
It was a very interesting story about friendship, the bonds that they shared were really moving.
I will say that I was a little confused at times because the transitions from scene to scene were a little weird but that is what makes the movie interesting. The ending was good, very fitting for the title, it might be a little confusing but once you get it it will make sense (message me if you need explaining).
I hope the squeal is just as good! :)
