If Paris Downcast (2018)

This is perhaps one of the most frustrating dramas of 2018 where the only saving grace was the male lead, Han Zhang as Tong Zhuo Yao. Although the drama started on a great pace and the plot was interesting, everything went downhill when the writer(s) decided to use and overuse every single cliché about separation for someone else sake. Although the chemistry between the leading couple was good, there was not a moment that the viewer could baste in the beauty of their romance for more than a few minutes before another separation happened after promising and assuring each other that they will never leave again, making the drama more torturing than entertaining. The overall acting was very good, the actors did what they could with their given characters but that didn’t save the drama which kept getting gloomier by the minute. Also, as if one pathetic infatuated actor was not enough, there were three! One can’t help to feel sorry for these actors that had to stick with such an awfully written storyline.

This drama started off pretty promising. The story was fast paced and well acted. However the last 10-15 episodes were draggy and frustrating. This drama should have ended at the most 35 episodes. Then it would be a perfect drama. The chemistry between the main actors were good.
Luckily Zhang Han is in it to help me finished the drama. Otherwise I would have dropped this drama in the middle. The writer was a bit brain dead towards to end. The plots and twists at the last quarters of the drama were torturing and not entertaining. At least it was a happy ending as a consolation.
They have good casts to keep this drama going. Otherwise it will be a waste of time watching it.

With a painful and betrayal past love story start with hatred, so starting is good but eventually after 7 episode it was getting bored , story like roller coaster ride means too much ups and down i means to say all the time lead actress run for his sake and he in everytime caught her and they all the time promise eachother to not to leave eachother no matter what and in the end when everything was ok then lead actor run away for her sake and she found him and drama was over .poor story .
I decided to drop this drama but beacuse of lead actor i decided to watch it ,his acting is amazing ,he did acting in a way that the samething happened with him in real.

Why so annoying

Story started with interesting plot but as it proceeds it started getting on my nerves. Tong zhao's mother is so irritating, annoying and stubborn. In half of the drama jia bei created the silly drama and in the other half her sister came forward to create mess. Her sister's character was useless. Jia bei was the one to blame for the mess she created even her sister knew that too but she helped her father to get revenge.
Now coming to the jiang jie's character OH GODDDD in whole drama he just keeps making blunders. He keeps on blackmailing ruan muan, what kind of love is it. SELFISH LOVE.
In case of male lead and female lead , both of them keep sacrificing eachother just because of others. ATLEAST THINK ABOUT YOURSELF. I don't know what writer was thinking. Drama could have ended on 36 37 episodes but it was dragged so much. Useless twists.

In this drama after Here to heart I feel disappointed. Main lead characters chemistry felt one sided only from Mr Tong side. However main female lead is argumentative, stubborn and foolish, always ready to run away. No sense of love or never stood up for something strongly....just flows with the wind. Acting wise Ruan is so so...when she appears in a scene, it becomes depressive....only zhang ...Mr tong was the one whom someone wants to see. Even though he is too sensitive , emotional....it looks like all the burden of emotions rest on his shoulder in this drama.
Mr Jing too disappointing....how can someone who looks soo ugly and always doing overacting was casted. I think casting director just thought having one good main lead actor is enough.
Wow what a mother in this drama.....if someone has such kind of mother than no need to have enemies in life.
Well for others I recommend not to watch seriously only watch for zhang han ....he is a good actor and even though there is such a frustrating twists and always run away lover Ms ruan. Ms ruan is a character whom I hated the most, she is of no help....always the one who creates emotional stress....always ready to run away so that tong will chase her. How come someone with so much stress can work properly. She is the one who makes mr tong suffer financially and emotionally, not because of others are plotting against him.
Mr jing or one can say stalker , total freak, as a actor always overacted...no charm. There is no aura with this actor even his grandfather has a aura of businessman.

Spare yourself the hours

I started watching this after seeing people complimenting it on tiktok. They said it was a lot of episodes but so worth it for how great it is. Oh how I wish I could track those people down one by one and demand my hours back. This was so so bad.
The acting itself was actually quite good. The music was quite nice. But the story was horrendous.
This has to have broken a record for the number of breakups of the same people over and over. ML and FL... I lost count of how many times they were like "promise you'll never leave me" "I wont leave you" *leaves immediately*.... "promise you wont run away" " I promise" *runs away*
Just stop it. Noone is worth this. Noone. They had okay chemistry until they actually got together the first time and then it was garbage. 2ML had no chemistry with anyone and continually forced himself onto FL over and over while claiming he'd never force her. Not one but two miscarriages in the same episode and I dunno how many divorces. There was a whole variety of illnesses; blindness, a fake mental breakdown, heart attacks both real ad fake. I wont lie I skipped a good 15 episodes in the middle there and missed absolutely nothing because they show you enough flashbacks that it doesn't even matter. Honestly sometimes they had a flashback of the scene immediately beforehand, like babes that was 30 seconds ago, I haven't forgotten it yet no mater how much I wish I could. I'd give it one star but I feel bad. I shouldn't though, it was terrible.
I'd be less angry if they properly framed it as a melodrama complete with that level of nonsense, but they didn't.

Happy Ending but Heartbreaking!

This drama had its ups and downs, but if you watch and get frustrated, it's okay. Remember, life is not perfect, and with the FL, yes, it was frustrating with her constantly breaking up, etc which, I understood her position because after a person gets wronged, hurt, or betrayed, it's hard to trust and believe in another, and oftentimes, you break up before you become a willing victim. It's a funny thing when it comes to love. Some know how to accept it, while others like in the FL case questions the validity and the genuineness of that love, oftentimes having self doubt, and confidence in herself, wondering if she deserved to be loved. I can't say enough about my favorite actor and ML, Zhang Han. He was awesome in all aspects. I'm still crying, and I've completed the drama. The other casts were great as well. To be honest, I'm not sure why, I've read all these negative reviews. When watching a drama such as this and you don't feel yourself in the drama as part of the cast, then you do not have that intellectual and emotional connection. I'm not going to give any spoilers, but I honestly want to tell viewers, watch it for yourself. Like I stated earlier, I was frustrated with the FL a lot of the times, but to me, that's when that actor has done his/ her part so well that the audience becomes pissed off. The OST with the collaboration with Zhang Han & 庆庆, Le Hu, Shuang Sheng, Yisa, and others throughout the scenes including the opening and ending songs will leave you crying your eyes out. Not that I've completed this drama, but I am still very emotional. Yes, it's a happy ending but still somewhat heartbreaking because it seems so real. So thank you, Zhang Han. You really did a number on me. Mr. Han, please ignore the negative comments and grow from them, but believe me, you've done an amazing job as the executive producer. Please take a bow! Only those with the intellectual and emotional connection will get this drama. Thank you. SO MY ADVICE TO THE AUDIENCE, PLEASE WATCH FOR YOURSELF! Please do not allow another person's opinion to deter you from watching this drama.

This drama sounded amazing - synopsis similar to "Secret" and is adapted from novel. First episodes provided great cinematography, scenes at Paris, quality soundtrack, great actors. It rose up huge expectations.

First disappointment came from lead actors chemistry. I did not felt "from hate to love" relationship. Hate was not emotional but rather they exchanged arguments. ML is not as complex as in Secret, there you could feel hate emotions and inner struggle to that. ML character is quite one sided. Though FL played that part quite good. There was no period when hate dissipated and they fell in love gradually. It was too sudden.

Everything happened in just few episodes. They love each over eternally but about 40 episodes left. For me, as experienced watcher, this was very fishy. After they fell in love drama went into full "melo" mode. Evil manipulative mother who uses fake illness on every ML "no" word, spoiled childhood-friend-as-younger-sister-but-wanting-more using daddy for evil deeds, evil scheming buthurt 2ML,... This is receipt for writing disaster. Even for melodrama. Is this really adapted from novel? Seems no. It was usual cheap writing to create one sided characters who miraculously change on the last episode. There is zero complex characters in this drama. Many surrounding secondary character are either cheating males or crazy women. Scene after scene drama went downhill.

I put drama onhold. At least it was made in very high quality. Waited it to be completed. But then saw it has unsatisfying ending and seems writers failed to manage balance between happy moments and frustration. They failed to include funny and very likable side-characters to maintain balance. Why I would watch 30 hours of frustration where in the end justice is not delivered to all evil people in this drama. Bad writing made this drama miserable.

Maybe it had interesting business cases. Business war between two super smart half brothers seemed promising. Main pair has good chemistry when in love. But to sum up everything it is not worth it. Dropped

This drama has zero resemblance to Secret. If you want to watch good Chinese melodrama with romance I recommend "Because of You". At least there evil people got fair share and it was balanced really well.

I watched this drama because Zhang Han is in it . I loved Here to Heart tremendously . The chemistry between the 2 main characters were amazing. Zhang Han & Janine Chang are an amazing pair .
It’s a happy love story that I could watch over & over again .
However , If Paris Downcast was very disappointing compared to Here to Heart . Here except for Zhang Han who again did a fantastic job , I found that he and Adi Kan did not have any chemistry at all . Zero !!!
So a romance drama where the leads do not have chemistry is a waste of time fo me .
I had to drop this series unfortunately though I love watching Zhang Han ! What a shame !!!
