New theme achievement! LoL

Finally resigning myself to start on this drama (esports is not really my cuppa tea previously), i dont expect to see myself binge-watching this is 3days!

Compared to YAMG and Love o2o, TKA is basically the more ultimate version of eSport themed drama and i’d say, almost 98% of TKA is about eSport and being a pro player, not that much side story or romance happening in TKA compared to YAMG or Love o2o. So i end up learning to get to know Glory and its rules/players/attack maneuver deeper than games in YaMG and Love o2o (cant even recall the name of the games right now. Proven! Lol). I enjoyed the match, almost like im there at the match venue, and the cgi and game interference are really nicely done, wayyyy better than the game in love o2o.

However, there are a few plot tendrils that i found is not given full closure or unknown point of introduction. For example:

-muqiu’s death is not explained till the end. I was waiting you know? So cruel. Lol
-whats the point of introducing ye qiu as ye xiu’s twin if he just appeared for basically 1 and a half episodes and pooffff! disappear not to be seen anymore. Personally, wont it be fun to have ye qiu back towards the end with ye xiu, making a havoc of everything? Lol. Whats better than 1 yang yang? Two yang yangs of course! Hahahah. Not to mention, ye qiu’s total asshat holier-than-thou but in fact innocent, betrayed younger sibling to ye xiu is so much fun to be thrown to Happy’s innocent lambs (imagine being tortured by one ruthless captain everyday, and now to have two of them in one room, i bet those guys will be crying tears of blood. Lol)
-tbh, i almost wish ye qiu came out at the end as the one who bought New Era and surpriseeee haha
-not sure what the script is trying to go with ye xiu/mocheng vs ye xiu/chen guo. Is it siblings bonding or comradeship or a romance?
-though i appreciate that they include the scene of ye xiu’s dad phone call at the end, i cant help but wish his dad’s physical presence to more of his games. After all, dude has been missing 10years worth of games to make up for. Lol. And wont those guys in Happy be in such a shock to find out that their broke captain is actually one of the heirs to a business? Lol

I am pleasantly surprise to come to like Su Mucheng’s character as much as i did. She was a steady rock in ML’s life, quietly supporting and actively assisting at the same time. She’s soft, gentle but kickass and capable bitch at the same time. The balance is beautiful. I think SMC’s character is the only main support’s character i didnt have something to complaint/be annoyed with at any point of time in this drama. The scene where she had to battle Happy at the very last and then walk straight thru in front of her team in New Era to reach Happy team after, knowing full well she will be accepted with open arms, finally coming home with tears in her eyes, shows how much she actually wants to be with Happy and with ye xiu from the very beginning, but she was a woman who had promised ye xiu to stay and play well, so she will do it. I love SMC!

And of course yang yang! Our handsome yang yang!! He did well in balancing a charismatic leader/a badass game god/and a mischievous little rascal of maybe 24-25yo youngster act. Even though ye xiu has such a complicated/tragic past, he grows up into such a fine young man with sense of responsibility but at the same time, nurturing older brother to his younglings, both in New Era and Happy.

The most annoying character to me most probably is Sun Xiang. Felt like pulling his ears sometimes. He annoys me so much with his arrogance and holier than thou attitude. He was such a manwhore. Lol. First, when New Era is on top, he was brought in, and later he joins Samsara. And he was even taking one spring leave (? Or what is it called?? Cant remember. Lol) with him to Samsara when it was not even belongs to him! How dare youu??!!!

Another thing I enjoyed is Huang Shaotian. Lol. That guy’s trash talk is pure gold! And i was laughing like mad during Happy’s match with Blue Rain until i cant even breath! Hahahaha

I think i may have forgotten a few things but i am soooo sleepy right now it’s not even funny. Lol. TKA is by far the only heavy eSport themed drama i have seen/tolerate so far

Gaming triumph fun story, not a romcom

Life is too short for stressful drama. Why spend all that time watching and be stressed? Don’t our lives already provide enough of that?

Summary of the series:
- somewhat Light hearted triumphant series had great flow
- no stress watching it
- how many series can keep a 10 year old child by your side to watch he whole drama, good family time with my child
- simpatico characters
- villains are kept at bay easily, no long struggles, calamity or miscommunications to cause more drama and stress
- its memorable after watching it, ending is also a bit rushed and not extend the happiest for another episode; I hope they continue that on avatar 2

By far one of my fav gaming series of all time since I like joyful, stressless series: recommended to watch for sure

If you are looking for gratuitous stress/drama, frequent miscommunications, insipid side stories, then this is not for you.

I enjoyed this, it was something different then a romance drama I'm used to watching. I also only wanted to watch this because of Yang Yang. I definitely do see a Sequel to this though.

It's interesting to see that a lot of these gaming dramas, and I know it's a drama but, like the life they go through and how tough it can be, with like family issues, and like a lot of people just not being encouraging towards the career that you want to do. And it's definitely a lot of hard work as well.

But I enjoyed this, and seeing how the team developed and how like through the losses they still are a team, and that going through the same things no matter what they're always there for each other encouraging each other as well!

A story that will make you want to be a part of it ❤️

I actually had kept this series aside for a long time. I always had it in my list but could never seem to watch it. And now, after watching it , I was a fool to keep it aside. I wish I knew. But no harm done. Better late than never right? xD

As for this series, I love that they didn't include romance(although there are a few hidden meaning and most probably two ships? But we'll know if season 2 releases). Sometimes , romance overshadows everything but I'm glad they kept it very esports-ie (if that's a work) ?

I loved every part of it , the frustration the angst , the failures the victories. Everything was on point. It would be hard to believe but I actually finished it within 1 and a half day ?? I literally bingewatched and I couldn't keep it aside for even a minute. It will suck you in this world of Glory where you want to be a part of . Their team is not the dream team but it's a team which made it happen, a team where all the left outs worked hard and used every fair play in the game to achieve and rise in glory. The messages in this series are something which can help you in no matter which part of life you're at . You would be able to relate.

The music is literally like an earworm . You can't skip intro and outro because of it . It is sooo mesmerizing .

And I'm so curious to know more so I'll definitely be reading the novel as well. Give this series a try. You won't be disappointed at all ❤️

P.s. I would have loved if there would have been a real game like glory . It would be so much fun ❤️

NOT WORTH OF IT

one of the worst drama i've ever watched. Boring af, the ML is stiff and the only smile he makes is at the very ending. Excessive use of terrible CGI ( the ML is not handsome, he's even worse in CGI). Excessive use og gaming time, boring and stupid.
The relationships are bland.
The only worth thing is the bond between Ye Xiu and Su Mucheng. Even with the new team, it's too weak.
The plot is very good, but the development is very bad.
Not wort watching. Better watch Falling into your smile rather than this.

One Word: VISUALS

Edit: I finished this a while ago and my thoughts remain the same!

Ok, so I’m actually still in the beginning of this drama as I have watched only about 1/4 of it, but I already have some thoughts that I figured would be worth sharing.
•So far this is definitely ranking up pretty high on my drama list. Love the concept, love the acting, love the graphics. Don’t have any complaints!
•I read some ppl were saying Yang Yang doesn’t fit his role here or that he’s the same as in Love 020 and I’m just like excuse me??? This feels like a whole new and fun side to him that only makes me love him even more!
•Lastly... omg the visuals! Everything and everyone is such an eye candy! From the graphics to the actors I am in awe during every episode I’ve seen so far!

A GOOD ESPORTS DRAMA TO WATCH

This drama is so good to watch! The graphics and the acting made it so good. Throughout the drama, Ye Qiu recruits people to be part of his team. His character and the way he looks at things is very inspirational, as he always never gives up, despite the circumstances looking bleak. It is super motivational to watch.

There isn't a lot of romance but the whole drama does keep me hooked, even without the romance side of things. I really love to watch romance dramas; even though this doesn't have much romance, hopefully the second one does. This drama is something that I recommend people to watch. It goes back and forth in terms of the game and the real world. The characters' faces in the game really looks like the people.

the king's avatar is very different with yangyang's other drama love o2o and i think it's better from the story, acting, cinematography. the story is slightly different with novel (background story character) but i like it. i also like the opening song, it looks like anime ost. i also like the song when yexiu found his weapon umbrella, it's very touching. I can watch it many times without bored. this drama is very recommended.

Objectively, Yang Yang deserves an applause for immersing to an interestingly-woven role. Because it's really hard to give distinction to how he suits up as Ye Xiu and his in-game character Lord Grim. Capturing Ye Xiu's intellect, humor, bluntness and conviction, while flashing those adorable smirks was just a done deal.

The storytelling of The King's Avatar is a gift. Every nuance of the hero's emotions was captured in an engaging tone that is graspable even by E-sports newbies like me. The friendship stories and all those celebrations from the game victories tacitly remind us of how it is to find happiness in the small things. Moreover, Ye Xiu's inspiring persistence pushes the importance of not giving up on your personal dreams. These and more have created a binding link to its viewers.

So far, the drama has capitalized on its underdog theme while strictly following the flow of the original content. Therefore, cheering for the multifaceted hero to claim the redemption he deserves.

Little by little, getting accustomed to dungeon clearing, arena battles, levelling up sessions, becomes a natural thing to do once you have become immersed in the world of Glory. The E-sports game has layered the vibrancy of The King's Avatar's projected fictional place. A great deal of hard work to present Glory is evident from the visual effects team. That's another reason for this series to get the appreciation it deserves.

Halfway through the series, differences from the novel presentation is evident. We don't see Ye Xiu with a cigarette stick yet. But that's actually for the benefit of the young audience I think. When watching something that you read, it is normal to have varying imaginations. Character-wise, I am happy that so far the characters, especially my favorite blabbermouth Huang Shaotian (Jiang Long), were all justified.

When Maggie Jiang Shuying, who portrays Chen Guo finally learns of Ye Xiu's identity, her fangirl moments were just utterly cute looking back at how she used to bicker carelessly with her idol. Her zesty character blends well with Li Muchen's Tang Rou, who has been consistent with her determined and stubborn personality.

Inevitably forming the quirky Team Happy are Lai Yumeng's Su Mu Cheng, and Lai Yi's
Bao Rongxing. Rounding up Ye Xiu's support team are Fan Jinwei's Xiao Yi Fan and Sun Ning's Luo Ji.

Swiftly moving, Ye Xiu's adventure highlights have been contrived efficiently with enough room for the second half stretch of the story. From first kill to dungeon records, the ambitious shift to real and game worlds has fully recreated the game character skills that were once only described in words into reality.

Traversing the selling guide arc, All-Star weekend, Happy Guild establishment, Ye Xiu's entrance to Heavenly Domain and the participation to the relegation tournament to enter the PRO-league - the future episodes are strengthening the road to realizing Ye Xiu's dream.

I loved it!

I loved the graphics!

The game play. The relationships, which weren't about romance at all, but about friendship.

I loved how the game characters looked like the actors that played them so that we as the audience knew who was who. I really enjoyed the game play. It reminded me a little of LoveO2O but it was far superior (because it was actually animated and seemed more like gameplay interaction than liveaction).

I know there's supposed to be a romantic undercurrent between Ye Xiu and Su Mucheng, but it's not at all apparent in the show. You wouldn't think they were anything other than really good friends.

I wish there was more! I loved the actors in this show as well: Leon Lai, Jiang Long, Sun Ning, Li Jun Chen, Kido Gao (oh gosh, this man is so good looking with glasses)!

From the storyline to the motivation to the way Ye Xiu overcomes everything, recruits everyone, builds a family. Its all so great. I love this show so much. If it wasn't so gosh darn long I'd watch it again. I definitely wanna watch the anime now.

Deep emotions , full of meaning and many life lessons.
Yet it is well planned and also has its comedy side
All the acting is superb especially yang yang!

One of the reasons I love this drama is because of the story. But given it's a novel and an anime series, you have to give credit to the writers of those mediums first but also recognise that whomever wrote these screenplays did extremely well. Then add the visual effects employed to be able to represent in-game play and character/actor representation in the game and it turns into a drama that's a feast for the eyes.

The effects were amazing, and the main characters/actors were awesome. You hated the villains and rooted for the good guys. There was also some character development thrown in there for good measure but it wasn't every bad guy that turned their back on the dark side nor every good person that got better. Everything had a reason.

In terms of the 'My Drama List' ratings, I should have scored this a 9.5 because I put the rewatch value at 8 and the only reason for doing that is it's 40 episodes long. They're all good as collectively, they make a great show but for me, some episodes are better than others. Personally, episodes with Jiang Long as Huang Shaotian were my favourites as his character is hilarious, and for evidence of this, I direct you to episode 10.

Episode 10 is a favourite for lots of reasons but that is one whereby more than 50% of it, the viewer is following players in the game and it showcases everything that is good about this show as per the above (great VFX, my favourite characters) as well as the beginnings of lots of the relationships that are needed to build out the story.

The whole show actually introduced me to online role playing games as well as e-sports as a medium and this show did a great job of representing the industry although, if I'm honest, the anime did better but this is only important, if like me, you liked the premise and plot of the story as much as I did.

I could say more, but if you haven't seen it... Don't delay and do it now. You won't be disappointed.
