But... I really wish that the changes had focused more on the strategy and politics parts of the novel, which is where I thought Butterfly Blue's novel shone the most. I loved the lavish detail that they spent on describing tactics and all the maneuvering, and I was looking forwards to seeing that! However, where I'm at in the drama, the most significant changes I see are that they've add what is essentially several episode's worth of meaningless fluff with Chen Guo vacillating from silly antics to self doubt at her ability to manage a guild. She feels seriously defanged to me in the drama, which is disappointing.
Actors are all pretty good, Yang Yang is the prettiest man alive, soundtrack... all I have to say is that if you watch like 5 episodes in a row it starts to get repetitive because all the tracks seem to be derived from like the same 3 sonds, but generally speaking it does the job of setting the mood.

Yang Yang's Best C Drama
Firstly, I just want to mention that I'm not a gamer at all and no nothing about esports but I learned a bit after watching this Cdrama.I can admit that I'm a fan of Yang Yang but I don't overly stan him hard and I don't like all the dramas that he's in. Sometimes I find that his acting is the same broody, main romantic lead. However, I really like him in this one. This is probably the only drama where I've seen him smiling and laughing the most and still have those serious moments. This is also the only drama I can recall where he's seen eating desserts! I like that Yang Yang plays a quiet and serious leader but he doesn't go into an overly broody persona.
The writer did a good job with the ML. His character, Ye Qiu/Xiu wasn't overly strict or dramatic. Even when all that hype about why Ye Qiu left Team Excellent Era, it kept on the down-low without the truth being revealed.
I also like the fact that the King's Avatar avoids any romance. Seriously, the fact that there's no romance, really keeps the story focused on just the creation of the new team, Team Happy. There isn't any distraction of romance which makes the storyline even better. (However, I wouldn't mind if Dilraba made a cameo appearance in S2. Reprising her role in "My Glory" and makes a comment that Ye Xiu looks like her husband! That would be so funny!) But back to the King's Avatar, there just a lot of friendship build-ups, some conflicts and resolutions.
The way the story flowed from live to gaming (anime) was really smooth. The anime part was always interesting, sometimes comedic and often times exciting.
The only drawback I had was with the women in this show. I wasn't a fan of the women. Tang Rou's character was so annoying and every time she lost, the story always went in a direction like she couldnt handle it. She always sulked off like a real loser. Even at one point, another player says, "She's having a breakdown." Go figure, only a woman character gets described that way. Chen Guo, the manager was the most annoying of them all. I just didn't like her acting. The voice actor who dubbed her voice was terrible. Couldn't stand the way she would whine but I couldn't like the actress either. She just seemed so annoying all the time. I also didn't find her strong enough to play the role that was expected out of her character. I just wanted to cut off the tails, (braids), in her hair. Ugh. But overall, I do think that the writers never gave any of the women a stronger vibe and there's only 3 of them out of the whole drama. Some of the guys were a bit annoying as well like the reporter kid, Little Moon, and An Wen Yi. It was very hard to like them.
Overall, I think I just like that fact that it's mixed live and anime. There are a few dramas like that but this is the only one I've actually enjoyed watching. They keep it simple in terms of gaming, and no over the board drama. This is one of the few dramas I go back and rewatch whenever I can. The OST seem really fitting and they played it at the right moments.
I hope that in the 2nd season, we will see the same smiling Yang Yang, more stronger women and more exciting anime.

The best e-sports themed drama I've ever watched!
I came across TKA as one of Netflix's recommendation. At that time, I am not into Cdrama and I didn't know any of the actors in this series. I just thought the plot is intriguing and the male lead is so handsome, so why not give it a try?Oh boy, this drama did not disappoint! This is coming from someone who is not a gamer, not an avid Cdrama fan and have zero expectations coming into the series. I haven't read the novel nor watched the anime version as well.
The things I liked about it:
- The plot. It is a story about a pro-gamer who fell from grace and how he bounced back in the game. This kind of plotline has really caught my interest the first time which made me decide to give it a go.
- The CGI. This is the first drama I've seen where real life characters portray the in-game characters as well. I was so amazed by how this was done, not to mention the excellent graphics of the game itself.
- The gaming environment. I have never been into a gaming arena before and this show offered me a glimpse of what it was like during e-sports tournaments.
- Yang Yang. I loved Yang Yang because of this series. Not only is he dead gorgeous but he somehow justified his role as Ye Xui like this character was created with him in mind. There could be no other actor for Ye Xui except him.
- The OST. I suffered severe LSS with Glory Battlefield even though I couldn't understand any of the lyrics. It was recently added to Spotify but during the time I watched the series, I have to stream it in YT and have it on repeat because I just can't get over with it.
I have rewatched this 2x already and mind you, I never skipped nor fast forward any of the 40-episodes with ~40min runtime per episode in each of those viewing. That's how much I loved this series! I think I will be rewatching this in the future just for the thrill of it. Yang Yang and the gang are my type of eye candies that can ease away the stresses of life.

Best esport drama ever
As a person, who love eSports drama and story. I read many noval, manhwa and watched many anime about eSports. And The kings avatar was my all time favorite eSports story. I watched animation and yesterday when i was bored and wanted to watch something new, i searched for something new. I usually don't watch drama's especially c drama. And yeah, i watched love 020, falling into your smile too. I watched them because they are eSports based story. They have good story line and actors acted very well. But what Disappointed me was, they focus mainly on the Romantic relationship between the leads and sometime romance overshadowed the eSports content. And as a person qho enjoy eSports, it irritate me when romance overshadow the action. So i didn't have much expectations about the drama in the beginning. Especially, i already watched the anime. And only hoped that, they won't destroy the original content. But this drama was a a full surprise for me.
1.Story
Though, there are many changes they made compared to the actual story, it didn't disappoint me at all. They story content was excellent. I want to share more about story but i don't want to add spoilers here. You just haave to watch it. Don't miss this one, especially if you love eSports genre.
2.Character Setting
I should say, who ever choose the actors i have to bow to that person. They chose perfect person for perfect position. Even if it's Ye Xiu or is mo fan, they chose every character perfectly. Especially Yang Yang as Ye Xiu. It was a perfect choice. After watching him as Ye Xiu, i can't imagine anyone else in the position. If its hilariously ye xiu or clumsy ye xui or emotional Ye xui, he performed every part perfectly. Even when playing game, even without a single line he was able to make us feel every mood changes ye xiu had when he was battling. When he is anxious or proud or sad or happy, everything was written in his face. And he also become a clumsy and foolish person to an tough and reliable captain, everything was perfect. And also other characters such as Sun Xiang, Han Wen Qing, Xiao Shi Qin, Wei Chen, Wu Chen, Mo Fan,An Wen Yi, Luo Ji, Huang Shao Tian,Qiao Yi Fan, Bao Rong, Xing Su ,Mu Cheng and so on wa acted by the perfect people. I have to say Leo Liang was the perfect sun. He, in the beginning filled the heart of viewers with dislike, but in last episodes, he was the character i loved the most. Though there are many difference compared to real sun, i don't have any negative about Leo liang as Sun. I liked him more than the real sun i saw in anime. Many actors where choosen perfectly fitting there respective characters. Example every team members of Xing Xin.
3.Acting
From the previous comment you can identify, how the acting was. Though there were many error in the acting. But, i have to say those can be ignored when it come to their over all performance.
4.The GLORY.
In Glory we can see the most difference between kings avatar orginal version and the c drama version. Though they tried to imitate the orginal version. But it was entirely diffrent arena compared to orginal. There are many scenes, which i consider as important part, which unfortunately weren't in the c drama.and many good parts of glory weren't included n the drama. I won't say, it didn't disappointed me, but, the way they showed the glory in c drama was perfect for me. Using animation instead of real human unlike love 020, and using different style and look for different character even if they are using the sane profession unlike falling into your smile was a perfect choice. And made me like this morr. It gave a refresh feeling. And the action they showed through animation was perfect. I didn't felt the awkward feeling when human act as the game characters. Even though its realistic, but it always make me feel awkward especially when it come to action. But the way they showed the Glory characters in this anime was perfect, the combination of anime and reality.
4.Re-watch,
I usually skip many chapters or some scene if i felt like it is boring including The anime version of Kongs Avatar. But, when i watched this, i didn't skip a single chapter or single scene. The way they built team and how they slowly become best frds and best comrade and their skill and personal development as well as character development and the back story of every single member everything was worth watching. And i didn't skip those part which i usually skip when watching other drama. Even when they face adversities, i didn't skip those part and continue watching it till they become strong and comeback glory. K have to say, yang yang increased my chances of Re-watching the drama.
5.overall
Overall i loved the drama, and it made me write this long review even though i am a person who hate writing review. I usually write review in two situation, when i liked a story very mich or when i hate a story. Even when i like a story, i only wrote 1 paragraph review. From my long SA you can realise how much i liked this dram. And the only disappointment i have was, i watched to watch more battle. They cut many battle part in the c drama. It really made me sad. And the fact that there isn't a season 2 till now making me more sad. I hope, i get to watch King avatar season 2 of this c drama in near future.

this series is full about esport no drama or romance but really exciting!!! the meaning of esport, games and life choices are all discussed here. in this series tells how difficult yexiu is in rebuilding his team, about friendship, about esports, about a team, about competition. Even though yexiu's character was very silly at first, since he rebuilt his team he has become very serious!! i love him for that. character development of some characters is also good. but ye xiu is too op in glory LOLps. yang yang in this series such a cutie pie unlike in his other series

This is my favorite esports drama ❤
⚡ Short ReviewProbably one of the better game oriented titles. Not your generic type drama it actually has feelings and every character introduce is unique. To be honest it is most likely the best drama I've ever watch in my life time.
Main character is overpowered but starts from scratch and meets difficulties, so do his friends, so there won't be any kowtowing or face smashing as in xianxia dramas.
The game itself is fairly well explained and entertaining. A must watch cdrama for people into gaming dramas.

King of E-sports
This is a wholesome, must-watch, full of fun and action, and I emphatically urge individuals to check it out. If you follow eSports and gaming, this is definitely in your wheelhouse. This depicts the universe of gaming and eSports in a manner I haven't seen before while likewise offering great characters with thoroughly examined characters and origin stories. In this way, as I said previously, give it a try!The creation was exceptional and the production group made astounding decisions in every aspect. The location and characters were delivered exhaustively wonderfully and feel completely fully explored and reasonable. The utilization of movement catch tech for the characters was put to utilize really and caused the in-game development and activity scenes to feel liquid and energizing. The battle groupings themselves were all around arranged and made for spellbinding and emotional scenes.
I should commend the production decisions made by the producers for this show and unashamedly say that I love the entertainers and entertainers they settled on for every job. Especially the main characters.
Yang Yang as Ye Qiu (Lord Grim) was a faultless pick and I can envision no else more qualified to play this cool, completely relaxed eSports legend. In addition, the way that they had the first voice entertainer for the anime give his philosophical and profound voice.
Lai Yu Meng, who played Su Mucheng, was likewise a marvelous pick. Regardless of whether she wasn't the primary pick, she filled in the job and satisfied it so well so I offer her a twofold go-ahead for the existence she brought to her personality. I adored seeing her demonstration effervescent and pouty to Ye Qiu, which was diverting so that me might see their science.
Daisy Li as Tang Rou fit her personality perfectly. The certainty, the egotism as well as a more milder side. She did everything and it was gotten along nicely. I cherished her dynamic with Ye Qiu and indeed, I expected some sentiment there yet it appears to be everything well .
Maggie Jiang as Chen Guo was effectively a decent decision. Being the bossy boss, her cooperation with everybody, except Ye Qiu particularly, being courageous and euphoric as well as showing her more close to home and weak side, it was only by and large around great acting.
The remainder of the cast, whether as essential or auxiliary characters, were additionally done flawlessly and accommodated their particular jobs no matter what. The cast felt genuine and I completely appreciated watching everybody in this show. No bad things to say.
The sound track was spot on . However, I had difficulty finding it on spotify.. At the point when the show needed to be close to home, there was music for that too to pull your heartstrings and give you the feels. At the point when the show needed to get you siphoned, there was music to keep you alert and aware and keep your eyes stuck to your screens.
The plot, while essentially, was sufficient to keep me captivated and needing all the more even in the wake of completing every one of the 40 episodes and I finished the whole season in ~10 days.
Waiting for the Second Season.

It's not the most faithful book-to-drama adaptation, but it's currently one of- if not the best- E-sports Cdrama (imo). I highly recommend TKA to E-sports/Gaming fans, fans of the E-sports drama genre who aren't exactly looking for anything romance-centered, and QZGS readers who can't exactly visualize what Glory would look like. Or... if you simply want to watch for Yang Yang (who I believe is perfect to play the role of Ye Xiu) go for it!
I discovered QZGS through this live-action. So after watching the drama the first time, I watched the donghua, read the novel, and watched this again. There were a lot of changes character-wise and plot-wise but the heart of the story remains: Glory. It's a thrilling and heartwarming story about teamwork and friendship, it's about how one of the best players in the professional scene fights to the peak of Glory with his team. This LA brought my beloved characters and the game to life and I think that it's a pretty realistic take on the QZGS Universe.
But as I've mentioned, they made changes to the characters. I don't mind the changes made to the players and their in-game characters' appearance, although it would've been nice to see the god-level accounts retain their original designs. What I do dislike are the changes made to the characters' personalities like An Wenyi, Wu Chen, and Chen Guo who said and did things that are ooc in the LA. Although it wouldn't be much of a problem to those who haven't consumed the story in other forms (save for the first-timers who said they found Chen Guo to be annoying and incompetent) it might bother those that have. The LA also includes subplots/storylines that don't happen until much later in the story, I don't mind this either but if they plan to make another season, I'm not quite sure what they'd do to replace the patch they took out.
Overall, The King's Avatar is such a unique story and I don't think anything will ever come close. It's a flawed adaptation, yes, but it's very dear to me and I'm so glad I found it.

All episodes are exciting to watch
I love Yang Yang so much that I have watched almost of his dramas--because some of them are not available in my Region and I cannot find it everywhere! But this drama? He totally really nailed it! The character, Ye Xiu fits him well. The drama is so good as I am also a gamer myself. He smiled a lot in this drama and it's so captivating. And for the overall rating of this drama, it would be 10/10. Not jus Yang Yang contributed for this drama to be superb (But he is actually for me, his handsome face, appearance, the way he walk, make facial expressions would be just everything in this drama. LOL but yeah for me hehehhe) so yep all of the casts also are excellent. Their friendship, teamwork and trust with each other make them ahead from their rivals. I can't wait for the S2 of this drama. <3xoxo,
Mjang

My opinion and critics, Please DO RESPECT. Thank you
As much as I like Yang Yang as an actor, he didn't fully grasps the character/ the MC style, along with the other actors and actresses, I did read the novel and I was upset that some of the characters have divert from the novel portrayal. It pulls of the charm of that character and it build a different vibe which doesn't fit into the story.I did give it a chance and finish the drama but I don't think I will watch it again, It's live action adaptation didn't give justice to the novel. If you haven't read the novel first, I suggest that you watch the drama but if you already read the novel then don't expect much.
