WARNING: This review does NOT actually contain spoilers, however, if you truly want to watch this show, you shouldn't read this because I took my kid-gloves off while writing it.

So here's my dilemma ...

Usually I live by the standard "If you don't have anything nice to say, it's better to just shut up," but in this case not saying anything will drive me crazy. Do you know the feeling when you look forward to something only to be deeply disappointed by it? Sadly that's exactly what happened for me with this show. However, trying to live up to my own moral code, I do have one nice thing to say about this show though, and in good rhetorical fashion I will put it at the end of my review, where the most persuasive point should be, so please bear with me ...

First of all, I think the actors did a decent job at trying to bring the characters to life, however, their efforts were butchered by the senseless writing most of the time. Characters are established as one thing only to react and behave completely opposite to what you would expect – not in a good "wow,-that's-a-cool-twist!"-way but in a "WTF-just-happened?!"-way.

What's also strange is that most of the main characters are spoiled rotten but are still praised as mature and kind by everyone else. Even their parents rarely say anything about their horrible behaviour which is just unrealistic (and/or bad parenting). For instance, the female lead is portrayed as this mature but still innocent little angel (or as I like to call it "The only kind of Asian heroine"), but some of the things she says to her hard-working father are just downright disrespectful ... and he NEVER reprimands her! It's so bad that I honestly can't tell if he's the best dad ever or just bad at educating his daughter.

Before this gets completely out of hand and turns into a ranting of epic proportions, here are my top 3 reasons why I do NOT recommend this show:
3. The borderline unprofessional editing. Seriously, it's so bad that it actually obstructs the plot and messes up the timeline.
2. Speaking of timeline: There are some major plot holes in this thing. Just think about how the two lead characters supposedly met each other the very first time ... (WARNING: The gaping plot hole you will find might drive you mad.)
and last but sadly not least ...
1. The plot is not driven by the characters but the other way around. This is a recipe for disaster. It makes everything (worst of all the drama and dialogues) terribly forced and artificial, leaving the audience wonder most of the time why certain dramatic moments are happening in the first place, when they could have been so easily dissolved. Which they eventually are ... in the most anticlimactic way possible.

Okay ... I promised to say something nice, so here we go:

I like the title song.

Although the character that's supposed to have written the song in the show is portrayed by an obviously tone-deaf actor who should have been told to never sing in a public setting.

But still, yeah, I like the title song.

It is a boring drama . First episode is good then it went boring till love story not started then after it looks like a mixture of story of drama boys over flower especially last two episode .i think there is no use of last two episodes ..there is no spark in love story as well as love triangle plus the friendship shown among all classmates ..the college life which they shown also not feel connected ... This drama showed that how not famous college can be turn into the famous college by showing sincerity in work by students ,teachers and management of the college ....as a while it is totally a boring drama.

Firstly ,I want to say that I like fair xing and after watching this drama I fall in love with main lead actor niu junfeng. I highly recommended this drama because of perfect chemistry they have, perfect storyline, perfect plot and perfect music. I like gu zi chen ( niu junfeng) entry.
I like main lead actor very much . I just love him.

The whole series is enjoyable, easy to bring watch. The plot is good and full of many twists and turns. I just hate antagonist He Mei.

I like soundtrack which is really enjoyable. I love . I had watched this drama more than 8 times because I fall in love with gu zi chen.

We need Your Highness, The Class Monitor Season 2! ❤️

The story started so good, actually. The story of friendship, first love, family issues, uni life struggles, identity crisis, etc. were there and it's relatable pretty much. I mentioned that the "story started so good". I did not like the story arc about their parents' "past", the "my-mom-is-against-you", and the amnesia, the kidnapping, and the several trips to the hospital was not necessary. I mean, it made the series a little too complicated for a uni/campus romance. The writers could have given them a simpler and lighter plot. Nevertheless, it was a good watch. It still is, by the way.
Oh, and the only hospital trip that I loved was when Zichen and Niannian got into an accident, but extremely happy that it lead to getting things cleared up between them and the memorable "second kiss" was just ADORABLE. But please, minus that "Hemie" part, I can never tolerate her.
The "first accidental kiss" was really cute. The "third kiss in the car" was lovely and funny at the same time. The "false alarm kisses" were leaving me hanging on the edge, but it was well compensated with those "sudden hugs". I cannot keep tabs on how many times our boy Zichen pulled our girl Niannian close for a hug. Its one billion volts and more.
I am a sucker for Zichen and Niannian's never ending bicker and banter. They are just so freakin' amusing to watch. They made me smile and laugh and cry even. The chemistry was just perfect. They were so natural that it's too easy to fall in love with them without them even trying. The rest of the actors were awesome. The ending was just fitting since they were just in their freshman years. And overall, I did enjoy it. Kudos!
Well, the main actors were, and still are the main reasons I keep going back to this series. I've watched it for like 3 times now, and counting. Haha..
And, can I just say that, well, it really wouldn't hurt to ask for a Season 2. I mean, YHTCM Season 2, when?

I am absolutely gobsmacked that this drama came out in 2019 and still had all the worst things about the dramas that came out ten years ago and still managed to do everything worse.

The writing is a mess. Taking every single trope in the book and just smushing them all together does not give you a story. It gives you needless drama and nonsense. And dumb miscommunications that could’ve been solved with a conversation.

A lot of rich man/poor woman tropes were used, and even though they tried to go for enemies-to-lovers, I felt like the main leads spent so much time arguing over basically nothing. The FL was especially annoying in this aspect as she was antagonistic for episodes for no good reason.

It also tried to do this makeover scene with the FL where every guy suddenly thinks she’s beautiful afterwards. It’s a cliche we’ve seen everywhere, but it flopped so bad here.

And that’s because it felt like the drama itself never bought into the ridiculousness of it all, whereas dramas like BoF did and you could at least enjoy the craziness and suspend your disbelief. This drama used all the crazy tropes and made them tedious to watch.

The characters are all very stereotypical and one dimensional. There’s practically no natural character development, and it feels like they’re just paper cutouts, going through the motions and the plot points the writer put them through.

It also relied on this lack of character development to reuse the same conflicts and have characters do things over and over again.

The only character I really enjoyed was the second lead (Ye Xing Yu), and the only ship I really enjoyed was the one with Yu Xi (boy-crazy roommate).

Coming off strong straight from watching Put Your Head on My Shoulder (would give a 10/10), I was excited to watch another drama with the same lead actress (Xing Fei). The first few episodes were alright but I could barely get myself through the last two episodes. A breakdown of the ratings for this drama:

[SOME SPOILERS] Story: Filled with cliques that take us round and round in a plot that is meaningless. The last two episodes were utterly ridiculous. Kidnapping?? Ransom?? Sudden acceptance?? But oh snap amnesia?? Jump into a freaking lake to trigger the memories?? and FINALLY everyone is going to live happily ever?? (I'm sorry, but so many parts of these last episodes were overly dramatic, rushed, and terribly edited together).

Acting/cast: I can't say the acting was bad, but I do think the actors/actresses were dealt with a pretty bad deck of cards to work with. The character development is all over the place and I can't say I'm feeling the chemistry between ANY of the couples. PYHMS definitely raised the bar with Si tu mo and Gu wei yi's adorable relationship which I unfortunately could not even find an ounce of in this drama. I was skeptical in seeing the actress in another college drama and afraid that she would be too similar to her old character and that I would only see her as Si tu mo, but props to her for pulling off a completely different character (though less likeable, I'm sorry).

Music: Great! I can't deny that the opening OST definitely got me hooked.

Rewatch value: No. Just no. No good plot, bad editing, no strong relationships. No. Like for example in PYHMS the plot also isn't extremely climactic and exciting, but viewers could really get invested int he relationships and each individual scene. I can rewatch any clip any day and enjoy it.

Overall: Yike. Sorry for being perhaps too cynical in this review but after finishing the drama I felt frustrated over how bad it was. I've watched way too many dramas by now (possibly well over 400) and maybe that it way I am so annoyed with over used tropes and cliques. Now don't get me wrong, I do like the occasional clique, but only when they are well executed. Maybe I'm too jaded to enjoy this drama. The storyline is all over the place much like this review right now. I don't know, your call if you want to watch it, but it's definitely one of the more ridiculous dramas I've seen in a while.

The whole series is rather enjoyable, easy to binge watch I'd like to say. I had initially started watching this as the two leads were from dramas I had previously watched, but I had come to love this pairing as the drama continued.

What I love about this drama: The soundtrack is really good and cute, I can never get tired of listening to them. The plot is quite good with all the twists and turns.

What I dont like about this drama: Frankly speaking, the editing sucks. Like it really sucks - the dubs are wayyyyy too obvious, and they love to reuse old scenes as fillers.

But overall, it was a great drama!

this drama is okay to watch if you have free time. this is the typical school romance drama that we may always encounter, like; rich guy and poor girl, looks like bad guy but actually kind-hearted guy, bullying the 'weak', a lot of 'misunderstanding', jealousy, can't date due to a reason, LOL. But worth to give it a try.

Decided to watch this since the main lead actress is there. *I like her after watching Put Your Head on My Shoulder!
And no doubt, her acting skill is damnnn GOOD. The main lead actor also! Felt so familiar, and suddenly realised that he was in Love 020, and Princess Agents! HEHEHEHHEHE, Love the main lead <3

good for beginners....

ok...so first of all I would like to say that please don't fall for those BAD REVIEWS ...i dont know why they are so bad??!!!
even if there are some faults..its okay not to be okay.
the characters and the people paltying their roles were beautiful.especially the male lead.
therole of a rich progeny and a coconut is really well done by Niu junfung. side couples were also too good.
The music in the drama was too good ..its timing was so good for every tune that it made the scene more intense.
the glitch in every drama that everybody starts liking the female lead suddenly isn't there.
drama included every character in it.it wasn't like that if they have so many people in their caste so any of them was neglected and that is what I just love about this drama. and I guess thats what made it so long. but then they gave u a flashback.
parents and friends are important and once u get them u start loving everything around u even it is the most hated university of u ...u will eventually fell in love with it - is the message.
the story made sense. it is just that when they showed the passing of time they repeat the same scenes again and again.
chem was a bit off bw the couple in starting but then it came at track slowly till the end of the story and I even cried once gu zi chen got his memory back.
teacher jiang mu was amazing. just all the memory loss and recall process of it by the ML was copied from BoF.and they should have shown more about the wisdom pouch as that was the ultimate aim of the drama I guess.

My first review

Ok so I watched this drama along time ago and honestly it was pretty good.
I like the story I like the chaacter now in 2022 i am rewatching it and I came to know that the voice of the actors is a little low like it was already recorded but it s probably because I have watched this year dramas as well and the quality of t is better.
It is a litlle boring at first but after getting into it it gets interesting and keeps you to watch it.
FL was my favourite and her acting was pretty good as well
If you want a romcom or comedy in one this is for you

many unrealistic thing

First off all yes it is a boring drama, I've watched several last episode with double speed, want to drop, but I still took interest with the story overall, so double speed it was...

The unrealistic thing:
1. This drama demonstrate to us the thin line between hate & love, so thin until we don't notice when that thin line disappear & they just changing direction. Gu Zi Chen (ZC) love for Su Nian Nian (NN) we can see from the beginning, but the changing in NN from hate to love is so weird & so fast. Fortunately Niu Jun Feng & Xing Fei chemistry still quite good.

2. They have the most relaxed university ever. I think they only have 2 classes. Practice & theory teach by Teacher Jiang. Most of the time is only self-study classes.

3. So much power NN has as The Class Monitor, no wonder they gave the title Your Highness, The Class Monitor to this drama. NN responsibility is far beyond the ordinary Class Monitor, it feel really unrealistic.

4. What an angel Ye Xing Yu is. No man is that kind & innocent.

5. The misunderstanding & the amnesia just bored me. That's just like they need a plot to fill the duration time.

Overall this just one drama to spend ur time. If u are a fans of Niu Jun Feng or Xing Fei u may watch this. But nothing too special about this drama.
