RAMPANT DESERVES BETTER

When I said Rampant deserves better, I do mean it. I don't get it why this movie is so underrated, nevertheless the cast and the whole story is crazy worth to watch. Well the story is typical zombie plot that we all know, but still impressively well executed. There are many zombie movies that turn into nothing due to lack of details. As in the depth of the story that leads to nonsense ending. It happened alot. But Rampant is well written and got the casts we should not doubting about, leading by Hyun Bin and his marvelous acting skill. We could see this bright, witty, yet reliable character in him that's always been well wrapped because it's Hyun Bin we're talking about, ladies and gentlemen. He's giving his all into this movie. He's slaying till the very end and when you finally see that, you know how highly dedicated he's to this. We just watch it but still getting the goosebumps and feel as exhausted as the casts trying their best to survive. That's the main attracting point of zombie movies, isn't it. This movie is intense you won't get tired of it. It's such an enjoyable zombie movies without a bunch of dumbass role and dumbass decision that could lead the story into a mess. It does give us heartbreaking moments, while remind us about the loyalty and heroic values that generally heartwarming for many in such a movie. You should give it a try. And please kindly to watch the first 15 mins carefully, in case you don't want to miss anything because it's kinda complicated at first but still worth to watch.

Could have been better

I read a lot of reviews saying this is similar to Kingdom but to be honest this is nowhere near it. The story was sloppy with no consistency.

It starts with Crown Prince killing himself which was so not needed. The king being this stupid person who gets manipulated easily. Hyun Bin enters the scene to protect Crown Princes' pregnant wife and then all the zombie drama starts.

Everyone starts turning into zombie and few villagers along with Hyun Bin are trying to save the country. Amist all this Crown Prince wife wanted to stay there for some morale which was super frustrating and then suddenly everyone's motto was, "To save Crown Prince Wife" (Eye roll). The same plot used again for zombie theme, nothing new to offer.

All the actors did a fabulous job but I feel this one didn't use their talents well.

Ost was nothing special and definitely not a rewatch material.

Kingdom’s older brother with cheeky Hyun Bin.

Quite an enjoyable tale. One that you know the ending of from the beginning, but you still enjoy the journey itself. Nothing too deep, too complex - nothing that requires much brain power. Perfect for a fun evening.

Since I saw Kingdom first, this zombie in a historical setting did not feel as groundbreaking as it actually was. Giving credit where credit is due, even though I was personally spoiled with this fun mix of genres with Kingdom.

Except for that refreshing mix though, the movie does not really serve any innovative ideas. Stereotypical characters following the arcs we all are familiar with from other stories. It’s not exactly a bad thing - the movie is obviously made as an entertaining historical action flick and it delivers in that aspect perfectly.

The thing I had complicated feelings about was the villain and especially the moment that led to their downfall - it was both anticlimactic, leaving me with “that’s it?” feeling, but also surprisingly fitting based on how he was built from the start. Quite some time before the movie finishes we know, he won’t win - no matter what. Keeping him in the story was, from that moment, quite pointless.

I enjoyed most performances, but the one that caught my attention the most was Han Ji Eun - great emotional delivery, both when she was in the spotlight, but also during the action scenes, where she was more of a background.

While I don’t really remember the majority of the soundtrack, the instrumental that played during the big finale was amazing and perfectly fitting the scene and the great fighting choreographies.

Overall, I had fun. Could have been slightly shorter, could do with a better villain.

The movie is so cramped, plenty of characters with no actual relevance. It seems like the hero and the villain are doing things just because they are meant to be, no character depth or development. They should have focused a bit more in writing and developing the characters instead of unnecessary and repetitive fight scenes. The sacrifice and death scenes do not make sense and just added for emotional purpose which is not accomplished. I am not even going to talk about plot holes because the whole plot is actually a sieve. It is a waste of such big name casts.

So this is a zombie movie set in historical era .
Movie is quite predictable but it still kept me engaged . Spl effects are good. Bgm is very good. The cast hyun bin is fine as usual ..I really liked jo woo Jin performence. Recognised him right away he is a valuable supporting artist . Jang dong gun is ur typical villain nothing surprising or spl about the role it was ok . Others did justice to their roles . This is a good time pass movie . It’s not fair to compare with train to busan just because they both have zombies . This is movie is fine in its own way . I was satisfied .

i honestly wasn't satisfied with the movie! the acting was totally great, Hyun Bin was amazing and his action scenes were done so well and Jang Dong Gun totally nailed that villain role! the zombies' visuals were on point too. However, the story had some flaws! the development was kinda of slow and not that exciting!! it lacked the thrill and suspense that 'Train to Busan' had! i know i shouldn't be comparing them but i can't help it! and i was disappointed in the ending, it could have had a much clearer one but it was so predictable and unoriginal! it just left me unsatisfied :( also how did hyun bin and jang dong gun's characters lasted that long!! i'm not trying to to tell you not to watch the movie but don't have high expectations for it! but i still recommend it for the good acting and zombie visuals hehe
