This drama has one of the most basic kdrama plots. The one where a woman and a man somehow become roommates and unsurprisingly fall in love with each other, yet I loved it so much. The cast could not have been better. Everyone but especially the women were so pretty. Literally no words just heart eyes. There wasn't a character that I didn't like (well besides some of the supporting characters but they aren't important). It was just weird how everyone was suppose to be thirty, but no one besides Sang Goo looked the age that they were suppose to be. Like you really expect me to think that Se Hee was 38??? Bomi's character was really nice, but I feel like they could've gave her a different name instead of just using her own name. Also, weird side note but all the main characters had nice lips hehe.

Some of the things I loved most about this drama was the friendship between Ji Ho, Soo Ji and Ho Rang, the humor and how realistic the plot was. All the girls were so supportive and understanding of each other. It made me wish that I had friends as close as them. I appreciated how they included more mature humor in this drama. I laughed a lot, especially in the beginning. Maybe it's just me but towards the end, it got less humorous. It was nice seeing a realistic plot for a change. All of the problems the characters faced were problems that most of us could have.

Now time for things I didn't like about the drama and this is where most of the spoilers in this review start. This drama was not overly complicated, but I feel like they included too many conflicts. They introduced Se Hee's ex-girlfriend so late in my opinion. Most of the conflicts weren't even fully resolved. They also included too much narration for my liking; they were basically rambling on about the same thing over and over again. Another thing I truly disliked was how Ji Ho left Se Hee and then came back and acted as if nothing happened?? I understand that she was trying to find herself or whatever, but I don't care what anyone says that is not the way to do it. The way Se Hee was just fine with her coming back bothered me too, but what can I do about it.

Overall this was a really nice drama, with an amazing cast. The last two episodes were a bit annoying but the beginning episodes make it worth the watch!

Such a beautiful and perfect 'slice of life' . . . .

For the three female leads, life at 30 is not what they hoped. Is it time for a big change? or is it time to learn to settle?

The mood is wistful and humorous following three women with very different goals: one creative professional, one power career woman and one woman hoping to marry, settle down and have kids. I loved all three storylines. I especially liked the lost feeling: their own parents had such different aspirations and circumstances, the professional/career adults in their lives just continually let them down, and old classmates tend to be more competitive and jealous than helpful.

There were also a lot of silly, endearing moments.

The acting is realistic and moving (I never felt, like anyone was 'acting'), The music had a very soft coffee shop vibe that suited the show, and there's lots of moments that have stuck in my head forever.

Complex Themes - 10
(So many themes!: on being true to yourself, learning the realistic limits of family and friends, boundaries, societal pressures, gender norms etc.)
Character Growth - 10
(All the characters are struggling with how to create lasting change in their lives after being stuck in a rut. The different ways they cope and grow are distinctive and enjoyable to watch).
Nuanced Women -10
(The relationship between the three distinctive female friends are front and centre throughout the show. I do wish that in the tech office and the office workplace there were more women and more interactions between women – but that’s a minor quibble and perhaps not a realistic demographic ask).
Cinematography/Production Values – 8.5
(This is shot competently, with a good mix of wide and close-up shots, and good angles. It’s not particularly creative cinematically, but given the every-day life nature of the show there are plentiful exterior shots along with the main interior sets)

It all seems so mundane, the things they do, but you’ll find there’s beauty in everyday life. It’s a cohabitation story about two people who lead very different lives, and in coming together find comfort in each other.

Apart from that, there are really hilarious bits that will make you roll on the floor laughing xD

Surrounding the leads are their friends who are also in different situations in different relationships with other people.

The cast is also stellar with stellar acting. This drama will tug at your heartstrings.

This drama made me question so many things in life when i finished watching it and i loved it.

It was quite refreshing and interesting to watch. Loved the main couple, great chemistry together and the story is very well done. This show focus mainly on the hardships and realities we have to face while falling in love, starting a new relationship, old loves, heartbreaks, how to love someone and working together to maintain the relationship going while also facing all of life problems.

It is also very deep on the love portrayed by the 3 couples and how love can also be a choice in life, a dream you want to grab with both hands but it’s not something that it’s easy to find nor easy to get.

“Winning someone’s heart is not a game, it’s something that naturally happens over time”

This script line really touched my feels on the right spot.
Who doesn’t want to be loved and find true love?
To be loved and missed so deeply that just the idea of living our days without that person makes us sad?

This show really made me feel a lot of things. Nostalgia, longing for a true love, to be missed and loved by the person we love the most, to be that special person in someone’s life...it gave my mind a lot to think about love, life, what we do for those we love and for ourselves and our dreams in life. And that’s why i loved it :)

Everyone can fall in love and find love if you just open your heart.
And at some point you will find someone who will take your heart and love you for who you are.
All you have to do is try.

A must watch for sure! <3

:-) BECAUSE THIS IS MY FIFTH REVIEW ;-)

Above title is only can understand by the people who watched this drama.

Everyone is reviewing about what's wrong with secretary Kim today. But I am writing review about this drama.

While watching what's wrong with secretary Kim,I saw these couples of because this is my first life. So I planned to watch the first episode of this drama.

I never expected this show will be this much amazing. I can't stop watching this drama eventhough I am sleepy in midnight. I completely addicted to this drama.

I can't explain the chemistry between the leads in words. They look like real life couple. Particularly I liked ji ho's character.

Eventhough what's wrong with secretary Kim and because this is my first life directed by the same director, I liked BTIMFL more than WWWSK.

I never hated a single episode in this drama. Now I hated myself why I am not found this show early. I swear that this is the best drama of 2017.

I am really started to missing this drama.

sigh

Here’s the thing. I really hate to be writing a review this negative because I genuinely loved the crap out of this drama all the way until the last quarter. At that point, the pace of the drama heavily slowed down, and I began to grow more annoyed with the leads. Mostly it was the FL that kept making everything into a weird metaphor or just deeper than it really was. A drama that is also guilty of this is Run Onn, and I gave that drama three stars… Originally I could appreciate how poetic the drama was, but the longer the FL went on about “the meaning of marriage” or “what IS real love” or, my favorite, “collecting your memories in a star pocket and using that star pocket when things get tough.” She just lost me there at the end. I loved how the drama focused on three different couples, it’s three romances for the price of one drama! It’s great, right? Except the pace of the romances was completely different for each couple, which really threw me off there at the end, because one second I would watch CEO Ma and Soo Ji sucking each other’s faces off, then the camera would suddenly flip to Se Hee and Ji Ho awkwardly holding hands as if they were 10 and not 30 and 38. This weirdness made the chemistry between the leads feel a little off, because watching the other two couples makes you strangely aware of how slow the main romance is progressing. There was just too much distraction from the main plot, really. I don’t know how to explain this any other way, I’m sorry. As I said in the beginning, the entire drama just took a nosedive, and I was honestly just generally confused by the actions of all the characters. The female lead suddenly began to ponder the entire reason for her existence and got into this weird depressive funk and up and left her husband for god knows how long. Then, she shows up without explanation at NIGHT, sleeps with him in the same bed, then wakes up and makes him breakfast like NOTHING HAPPENED. God, I just wanted to punch her at that point. Excuse me ma’am, you literally confessed your love to this person in your voice-over several times, then you LEFT him for NO REASON, then you have the audacity to show up and just expect him to forgive you after you broke his heart and made him cry for you. Not. Cool. While I’m criticising the female lead, I’d like to just add that I would have liked more closure with her writing career, and I was, once again, pretty frustrated when she was being indecisive as hell about the job offer. Just overall, the main couple could have been done so, so much better, and this is why I really appreciated the second couples, which were, sigh, not without their faults by a long shot. I feel like Soo Ji was initially a little dramatic about her life situation and her reason for pushing people away, otherwise I thought her story arc was probably the best out of all the characters. Loved how strong she was and how she refused to wear a bra half the time, because I felt that on such a deep level haha. Overall, she and CEO Ma were my favorite couple in this whole drama. Rang and Won-Seok…. yikes. First of all, Rang has some serious issues she needs to fix, because even at the end of the drama I felt that she was toxic and manipulative as hell and just a poor excuse of a girlfriend to Won Seok. I supported their breakup wholeheartedly and thought that this drama could have shown how they recovered from their breakup and maybe found some love at the end with people they were truly compatible with. The whole, “oh we dated for 7 years and i know you inside and out. I cannot live without you after all wah wah wah” storyline that happened instead was just disappointing and didn’t solve their initial problem: She wanted to conform and get married (nothing wrong with that) and he couldn’t marry her because he was insecure about his financial situation and was just not really all that jazzed about getting married in general, which is FINE but this is also why they should have just broken up and found better people that could complement their interests better. My Bo Mi and Won Seok ship sank rather quickly though… Now that I’ve got all my grievances out of the way, I’d like to say that I really liked the cat. Thank you for reading this long-ass ramble and good night. Watch something better please. Your time is more valuable than this.

Sometimes we need some lessons in live to improvise ourselves .
Living life with all aspects together at a place isn't something to be taken granted for .
Life demands improvisation and maturity .

This drama's sole purpose is to highlight 3 (common) out of the several aspects of a relationship .
One with a hefty relationship , the second with a no relationship and the last (lead) one with the most enigmatic and charming outlook on relationship (basically marriage )
All together every episode has a theme to it .
Read the title carefully .
" Because this is my first life "
Ironic , isn't it ?
Why ? you ask . /
Well it's the same thing for each and everyone of us out there . It's the first time we're living our lives / But the difference is where it counts and makes us different altogether .
Life , Job , Relationship ( which later on coverts to marriage) , Family , Friends .
These are thee basic aspects .

Final call , This drama is a master piece . The acting is awesome , the cinematography is charming , the script is like fire on the dance floor .
It sways you with each and every episode till you feel it to the core of your heart and mind .
Or get blown away with it .

BEST DRAMA OF 2017 in my belief .

Rating , You don't rate masterpieces and gem .
Wait , I should ?
Take it then .
100000/10

P.S : Because this is my first life too .^^

I must say this is one of my favorite k dramas. I like the story, it is well written. The story is actually simple, and maybe that's what hooked me into watching it.There is no cringy drama scenes and I dont really remember any cliche upon watching it. maybe the marrying part sounds like a cliche but it didnt bother me that much. this is so much fun to watch. It has a lot of comedy into it so it is very light to watch. I like how they incorporate some poetry in it on some episodes. I like the characters, the character development and the chemistry among the actors and actresses. Hope there are more episodes but Im still satisfied with what this series has to offer.
I absolutely love the whole time I spent watching it. but probably wont rewatch it, nothing beats the first time you see a movie or series. the first time is always different.
Just happy that I watched it and hope you do as well.

This drama is quite refreshing. It’s got adult themes, mature storylines and interesting messages; it’s clear in what it wants to say and bold in it’s deliverance. Sexual harassment, sexism in the workplace, and the hierarchy of marriage are prominent themes... “Because this is my first life” gives an important and interesting discussion on what marriage really means.

The plot was pretty basic, an arranged marriage where the two leads share a house and fall in love. The romance in this drama is pretty unique. It’s awkward, stilted and slow but very sweet and believable. The similarities between the two main characters worked really well; unlike other dramas, they complement each other really well because of the ways they are the same, not the ways they are different. They did have really really good chemistry, I think, and some scenes were very well delivered. They have such lovely moments together that I love to rewatch them. I especially loved their kissing scenes, it was the perfect demonstration of tension building up and up and finally reaching a peak. This slow burn is actually so good. Their relationship was often frustrating just because it’s more about the things left unsaid, rather than the huge romantic gestures we’re used to. But this actually fits the character’s personalities well, and to be honest they’re a perfect couple. People who watch this drama for the first time just have to be wary of the fact that this isn’t a dramatic relationship or a relationship based on large gestures. It’s just home.

The secondary couples were good too. I think Soo Ji and Sang Goo stole the show and were at times a more interesting and loveable couple than the mains. Their romance is literally so funny and they actually seem to genuinely like each other, which the other couples don’t express as well... plus Soo Ji was such a strong character and Sang Goo was so funny and sweet that there was no way they wouldn’t have worked well together. Many people have complained about Ho Rang and Won Seok but I did like them sometimes, plus it was refreshing to have an established relationship in a drama. I liked the message of healing and nurturing a relationship a lot and their emotional scenes were strong, though their storyline was dragged out massively and feels a little pointless at the end because they literally just go back to how their relationship was before.

The cast itself was overall pretty good, Jung Simon is a very strong actress and, though I know a lot of people dislike Ji Ho (especially towards the end of the drama) I actually really loved how she represented a complex, strong, adorable and interesting female lead. Lee Minki played a pretty average role, but there were definitely some points where he shined too. Definitely Eom was the best in this drama; the character of Soo Ji was amazing and so so refreshing, she was the perfect mix of strong, adorable and interesting, especially for a side character. Overall the cast was good and the characters were fun enough to keep the drama interesting, while having touching and meaningful backstories/storylines. I liked the friendships between the female characters so so much; solidarity between women is hard to find sometimes and it was so nice to have those healthy female relationships.

I’m a sucker for OSTs and I really really loved this one. So fun and sweet, totally fits the atmosphere of this drama. I listen to it a lot, actually. The atmosphere of this drama in general is really lovely, actually. The whole show is about making a home and finding a place to belong... the scenery, music and mood of the show fit that very well. There are a lot of silences and awkward moments in this drama... it really is realistic. I think that the whole vibe is just slow and homely.

If you’ve looked at this page even once you’ll know that people have a major issue with the last two episodes... I agree with this. Episode 15 in particular is just so weak? It’s boring, flat and there’s so much angst that it doesn’t have the same vibe as other episodes and just features stilted conversations. It was basically a filler and could’ve been left out if I’m honest... it just put me in a bad mood and left a bad taste in my mouth for an hour and fifteen minutes. (apart from the last scene, of course, which is so good (kudos to Lee Minki)). Episode 16 was marginally better, not as strong as other episodes but at least an attempt at a satisfying conclusion that wraps up the storylines. It is so much less realistic than other episodes, very idealistic and rushed. Seeing as the show deals with such serious issues and is so realistic, it does feel like a very typical happy ending and the catharsis therefore just isn’t as strong as it really could’ve been... there was so much potential for the last two episodes that just really fell flat? Plus the two couples getting back together was really bland, nothing really happened Like I said, there was potential there that was wasted and if the rest of the drama hadn’t been so excellent I wouldn’t have been as unsatisfied as I am. To be honest, I would’ve much preferred an open ending. I do feel like I might be being too harsh though; I did love some moments and I did enjoy it still!

What also bothers me is the representation of Ji Ho in the last two episodes... all through the drama she’s literally called transparent, and she never hesitates to talk about her feelings, so why make her into this secretive woman who leaves for no reason... the Ji Ho I loved was honest and kind, and that’s lost in the finale.

The final episodes kind of affect my view of the drama. Overall though it was funny, touching and I loved the characters. I love rewatching some moments, and the messages will stay with me for a long time (and I’ll definitely listen to the soundtrack a lot). The characters became a sort of family together and I have a lot of affection for them.

"Words are born from a person's mouth, and die in a person's ear. But some words don't die...they go into a person's heart...and continue to live."

I was honestly shocked and pleased by how progressive and feminist this show was, considering the mostly patriarchal and conservative nature of Korean culture. But as I'm still fairly new to watching Korean dramas, I am by no means well versed in the realities of life there. After all, these are drama shows with heightened and exaggerated storylines for the purposes of telling the story. But this drama resonated because it was so wholly focused on not just the aspect of love/marriage/sex all being a component of one thing but instead separate entities that may or may not go together depending on what each person finds suits them in life.

Not only do we have a great pair in the main leads with Ji Ho and Se Hee but we get a whole trio of gals with Ji Ho, Soo Ji and Ho Rang. I loved all them all and their different viewpoints and expectations on life and the topic of how sex/love/marriage aren't always hand in hand. Soo Ji's flippancy towards love and marriage and her badassery in taking on the world and her opening up for Sang Goo; Ho Rang being adamant about what she wanted and fighting tooth and nail for Won Seok to be her happy ending.

And of course, Se Hee and Ji Ho's journey from housemates to married to just "psycho" unmarried couple who are happy to be together but not married as that construct is what threatened to ruin the love they grew to share. Se Hee starting off with the distant coldness and suppressing any chance of happiness before Ji-ho is so sad but it's so tender to see his poor little frozen heart melt by her. And from the no smiles to the smirks to full on smiling was lovely.

Ji-ho's spitfire personality really resonated with me. When she got assaulted by that director and refused to just gloss over it and demanded to be called a victim. I was impressed to see that and so glad she continued to play defense like in soccer.

So many great quotes, that gives in a rewatchability factor. I didn't want to stop and write down everything because it was so much but the introspective and deep, meaningful words about life and love really brought this drama up to another level.

PS. Kitty/Our! Such a wonderful purrball. Very vital to the plot. Truthfully. :)

Some great quotes I did write down.

“I noticed you washed the instant noodle bowl.”
“Yes, it’s a habit.”
“You have a really good habit.”

"No man who loves animals is a bad guy."

"It's better to be a crazy bitch than a pathetic wench."

"A heart isn't something that is taken or grabbed. It just comes to you."

"Just because you've lived yesterday, it doesn't mean you know everything about today."

What a lovely drama. Very thought provoking not forgetting it pulls at the heartstrings too. Definitely a MUST WATCH.  I found myself painstakingly going through each week waiting for the next episode, which was a killer. Aside from that, I also had to wait for subs! Why don't I know Korean? But nevertheless, I finally got to see the end and it was amazing.

What is marriage? That is the question - In this way, this drama makes you think. Honestly we all have our own view on marriage and what we think it's about but after watching this drama I do believe my view on it might have changed a little.
The story is beautiful, weird, but beautiful. The awkwardness of the main couple just added the right amount of spice to this drama and you couldn't help but ship them. No iceberg was gonna take this ship down. hahaha. Se Hee was awkward but so adorkable. Yes, adorkable. And Ji Ho. Gosh I loved her. Her personality would be everything I would look for in a girl...if I were a man. I loved SeHee and JiHo together and couldn't get enough of them.

The side couple also added their own flavor to the drama. With Won Seok and Ho Rang, I felt an air of seriousness. Their relationship was probably the most thought provoking one. I mean, who do you side with? One time I'm like she's being selfish and then I'm like he's being selfish...you know what? They were both selfish. Yeah. But in a situation like that, what do you do? On the other hand, there is the other side couple that's always ready to make you laugh, Soo Ji and Sang Goo.Just loved them.

The acting was superb! This is my 'first time' with most of the actors in this drama and it was truly wonderful and the casting couldn't have been better. I've just found a lot of new favorites which means I've got drama/movie hunting to go do.

Don't know if this review will be helpful to anyone but I just had to have my say. I tried not to spoil anything. Overall, well done!

Now on to the next drama!

I'm out...
