Both of the movies are about appreciating the small things in life as their themes. Both of them follows a protagonist and how they live their life. Both are very slow paced but they make you appreciate life.

Both movies center around Japanese tea ceremony rituals.
They are quiet and slow-paced just like "the way of tea" dictates, and their stories are character-centered. They both have elegant cinematography magnificent scenery, filming settings and costumes.
Soothing, comforting, with natural, subdued and refined performances from both late Kiki Kirin and Kuroki Haru in "Every Day A Good Day", as well as from Nakatani Miki in "Rikyu ni Tazuneyo", these movies are an exquisitely calming and unique experience!
