A Very Satisfying and Full of Fluff Drama
This drama is without doubt the best romance drama in my book. Full of fluffs, hilarious & crazy chemistry is the 3 things to describe The Eternal Love series. I love how the love story of Lian Cheng & Tan'er are told without any pettiness or games, with a lot of hugs & kisses and most of all, they genuinely look and act like a true married couple in love. If you are looking for a great romance drama with a fun storyline, then this drama is for you.While I love the 1st season, this 2nd season is without doubt miles better than the first one in term of everything. It got better budget, better script, better plots, better acting, better styling, better costumes -- basically better than the 1st season in term of everything while still maintaining the same heart & soul of the 1st season that we all love. I loved the plots involving 2 Mo Lian Chengs, the confusion it caused Tan'er and the hilarity it caused, the butterfly effects, the fight for the throne, basically everything from beginning to end. The plot is very simple but at the same time very fun and interesting.
Lian Cheng is without doubt one of my very favorite drama characters ever. Can you resist his charms? The man is literally perfect! Like the 1st season, he is King of Teasing and in this season, he didn't disappoint either and I personally think he upped his game even more despite being gentler and sweeter. I cant believe how Xing Zhaolin's acting has improved so much than the 1st season in a matter of a year. He acted the 2 Mo Lian Cheng with very subtle differences since they are supposed to be the same person. I can recognize Lian Cheng and the 8th Prince as early as Episode 6 despite both of them wearing the same clothes and donned the same hair styles. Lian Cheng has this gentle and relax look on him all the time while the 8th Prince's expressions are stoic and colder like the old Mo Lian Cheng from the 1st season.
Liang Jie as Tan'er / Xiao Tan is still as awesome as ever. She can definitely survive anywhere and of course where she is, trouble will follow her. Her out of the world thinking and bravery are definitely one of the reasons why both Lian Cheng and the 8th Prince can't resist her. And the 'English' letter he wrote to Mo Yihuai is definitely hilarious -- I'm in stiches while watching the whole scene. When you have this kind of character in a drama, surely, the drama wouldn't be boring and stagnant.
And the ending is literally the best ending for a drama! They dedicated the whole episode solely for the ending. It didn't feel rushed like other Chinese dramas and they gave us enough time and closure for our lovely couple and their happiness. The ending scene is truly perfect! The conversation they had at the lake is literally their relationship in a nutshell. From Lian Cheng brilliant teasing to Tan'er loves for money -- I love the dynamics of their relationship. They are definitely a relationship goal.

This drama is one of dramas where promises are fulfilled instead of broken. Thus as I stress again and again, a perfect romance drama in my book.

Better production and storyline!
Maybe many will like the first one more as the story focuses on just the two main leads falling in love, but if you are looking more than just the two couples loving scenes, you will probably enjoy this more!In terms of production, I think they got more budget for this series so the scenes and cameos in this series are in bigger scale and VERY MUCH better!!!!
In terms of storyline, I prefer this one than EL1 as well because Cheng Cheng's hidden mission parts just made the show more exciting, you will be worried that he might get caught or die or whatsover, so that will make you go on and on watching the next episode.
(However, it would be even better if their whole series is in modern world, not just the first few episodes haha! I enjoyed watching them in the modern world more)
Also, I think Liu Shang's actor selection wasn't really a good choice as it always made me felt like they are not the same person. Not because they don't look alike (as they were not supposed to look alike), but the actor didn't really catch the details on how Cheng Cheng smiles, hand posture or expression when talking to Tan Er... hmmm probably the only part that this show is lacking.
Regardless, looking forward to EL3! Because I just wanted to watch the couple again.

just as good as the 1st season
*Watch the first season (The Eternal Love 1) before this one if you haven't done so already! The Eternal Love 2 does not make sense as a standalone drama.*The storyline, albeit a similar synopsis with season 1, remains captivating. We are always rewarded with heartwarming love scenes along with funny ones that make you burst out laughing. I am very happy the same cast returned to work together for this season. The chemistry between the female and male lead is reflected prominently through their romantic scenes. In the previous season, the female lead acted out two different people with opposite personalities; this time it's the male lead's turn. It was a bit confusing distinguishing them in the beginning, but as I watched more episodes, it was apparent to me who was who. I am impressed with how the male lead is able to portray the two personalities well without being overtly over-the-top.
I really love the friendship and loyalty between Xiaotan and Jingxin. FINALLY, a drama where the female lead's friend or trusted one doesn't turn on her as time goes on. The soundtrack is beautiful and melodic--just as season 1's soundtrack was to me. Also, I'm usually not a fan of fight scenes because I get confused with there being a bunch of people swinging swords around lol. However, the uniquely choreographed fight scenes were very entertaining to watch.
I am so glad I picked up this drama series. The first top reviewers seem to prefer the first season more, but I like both seasons 1 and 2 equally. Besides, without one, there is no other. As long as you're prepared with tissues, you'll love the journey The Eternal Love 2 takes you through.
(I feel a bit sad now that it's over, but I can't wait for what comes in season 3! )

Enjoyable, but not as fun as the original
I loved the first season of The Eternal Love for its humor, romance and just the right amount of cheese. I also enjoyed the second season even if it’s not quite up to the joyous fun of the first.What’s improved since season one:
** Better costumes - Clearly there’s a bigger budget with more elegant costumes and improved wigs.. I do miss 14th Prince’s colorful costumes from season one. (RIP yellow furry shoulder pads.)
** Better sets - They are missing the cool elegance of the first season interior sets, but they expanded all the outdoor locations with some truly breathtaking locations
** More court intrigue - If this is more your thing, the plot focuses more on what’s happening at court and less on the romance
** Some really cool plot twists
**Xiao Tan doesn’t scream nearly as often (she was really shrill at the start of the first season)
Good stuff they kept since season one:
** The chemistry between the two main leads is as strong as ever
** A lot of the great songs from season one are back again
What didn’t work as well as season one:
** A lot of the relationship building for the main leads was taken for granted (which the characters actually admit). The fun of the first season was to see these characters go from hate to love and well, it’s short-changed and brushed over. Big romantic kisses come out of nowhere. This season is definitely less about the romance which is what I loved about the first season.
** A lot of the great supporting cast is back, but their characters don’t get any development. They are there for specific plot points, and the characterization is short-changed. If you didn’t watch season one, you wouldn’t care about their characters from just watching this season. Sad really and I would guess the actors feel that way as well. I really hope this gets fixed for season 3.
** Lots of plot holes. It’s a complicated story so these things happen with time travel and parallel worlds, but there are lots of them.
Overall, it’s worth watching, but just lower your expectations just a bit. I’m still really looking forward to season three!

Really excited when i see the sequel of this drama. Still looking forward for the 3rd season. ^_^A little disappointed why they change the story line from the season one. Why not continue... Even though the season 1 ending already give a little peak of how season 2 suppose to start. Maybe because they still want to fight over the orb while in the season 1 the orb already open and become one with Qu Xiao Tan (QXT) so the story can't go much forward from it. But in the end i quiet like how in this season Mo Lian Cheng (MLC) show his love to QXT.
Really like the ending of season 2 where they married and so cute toward each other. Really hoping the season 3 they continue the story from season 2 and not change it again like from season 1 to 2. Really curious the connection between their child and the orb... ^_^
Season 1 & 2 the most pity person is always Mo Yi Huai. He's not doing anything wrong, he only love Qu Tan Er but their fate must be like this... In season 1 yeah he did something so wrong that make me want to killed him. But in this season, where he became crazy in the end, so pitiful.
Really happy when they are not changing the cast at all from season 1 to 2. Hopping there isn't any changing in the season 3
Which one I like more season 1 or 2? I still have to give the glass to the season 1. Season 1 more funny and joyful to watch. I loved to re-watch the season 1 from begin to end, but with season 2 only several episode or maybe even several scene. B)

STORY:Compared to the first season, I actually really enjoyed this story line a lot more (and from start to finish). Even with the time traveling and multiple versions of characters and whatnot, it still made sense to me in the long run and overall had more fluidity than the first season did. I think after the cult success of the first season, and the hesitance for people to watch second seasons, it was overall good and worth it.
At first, I was thinking it would spend more time in the modern world, which would have been nice, but honestly I prefer historical dramas anyways, so I didn't have an issue with it traveling back to Dong Yue. Minus a few scenes throughout the episodes (the fridge falling out of nowhere and crushing the car as an example). things flowed well and made logical (using the term loosely) sense.
I think the use of the additional actor as the "other" 8th prince made the drama a lot better because they didn't have to use as much CGI and it was less for Xing Zhao Lin to have to deal with. He also brought different elements to the story which I enjoyed.
The romance was full on from the first minute, which is what I was expecting. I appreciated that this go around, as crazy as he was, that the eldest prince wholeheartedly loved Tan'er and never gave up on her. I actually sympathized more with him this time around because he actually fought to be with her from the beginning.
I also wasn't a huge fan of the "mystical land" plot line towards the end of the first season, so even though it was mentioned throughout this season, it didn't interrupt the story line like it did in the first season.
ACTING:
I think by this season, all of the actors had more experience on hand. I also like that they were able to bring back all of the same actors from the first season, so there weren't any weird changes throughout and having to explain who this new actor was that was supposed to be the same character.
The leads were still super cute and I think have good chemistry with each other. Xing Zhao Lin, even though he had some help not having to act as both 8th princes the whole time, was really good with keeping the two princes distinct from one another. There were a few times that you weren't sure which prince it was, but that was more of small writing issues IMO.
Liang Jie was a bit less spunky this time around. Maybe it was a writing thing, or just because she didn't have to act like Tan'er and Xiao Tan, so she didn't exaggerate the differences as much, but overall I think she was still good.
REWATCH:
Luckily The Eternal Love 1+2 aren't super long dramas (27 and 30 eps, around 35 mins each), so it's a quick watch. It's also a very cutesy and comedic romance drama with a bit of standard imperial court drama, so overall it's easy to throw in when you need something light and cute to watch. Overall would probably watch it again.

Finally a season 2 with all the actors intact. And finally a season 2 that really acts like a sequel. I often times have problems with Chinese drama sequels because it's either they change the actors or they change the plot altogether. There's no continuity.STORY:
The story picks up where it left off in the first season. Kind of. Liang Cheng (Xing Zhao Lin) goes into the modern world to look for Tan Er (Liang Jie). He hopes to find her and continue their relationship. Of course, since he was a prince in the past life, he had to be rich in the modern times. Unfortunately, the Tan Er he meets is the Tan Er of the past meaning the Tan Er that didn't know him, the Tan Er that have yet to travel to the past to connect the course of the events. Does it make sense? Liang Cheng is the future of the past times and Tan Er is the past of the modern times. At first it doesn't make sense but it will. So basically she doesn't know him. She is just this real estate agent who is minding her own business. And Liang Cheng being Liang Cheng he couldn't stay away for too long. He had to tease her. Things happen and this Tan Er travels to the past to meet the Liang Cheng who has yet to be betrothed to Xiao Tan. So basically this plot is having to Liang Chengs. I liked the fact that they used another actor as the future Liang Cheng. He tries to divert the events so that no deaths will happen but the thing about fate is that no matter how hard you divert from it , it just comes back to you biting you in the ass. This is basically a retelling of the first season more of like playing with time once again although of course we get the happy ending we deserve. A happy ending with something looming on the horizon
ACTING/CAST:
I have nothing to say about the cast because they had chemistry but I swear Xing Zhao Lin and Liang Je took their chemistry a notch higher. I don't question what they can give. I'm surprised that they can give more.
MUSIC:
I love the music here more than the first season. I loved the opening theme and the song that's played in between the scenes in the drama
REWATCH VALUE:
Yes. I've seen this 2 times and watched my favorite scenes more times than I could count.

RANT: I read a lot of reviews and most of them rated the show lower than it deserves because they thought it was gonna continue from the last season or because they didn't see their child or because of the fact that there were two Mo Liang Chengs this time and whatnot. What i don't get is that when there were two Tan'er's in S1 no one complained. Anyhoo I'm just gonna say DON'T LET THOSE REVIEWS DECEIVE YOU! STORY REVIEW: I just finished this and I am totally amazed by how beautiful this drama is. During the first two episodes I was confused even if I had rewatched S1 before I started S2, I was still really confused and I kept on wondering where the writers were going with the story but I was able to grasp the whole thing when Tan'er woke up in Dong Yue again. I WOULD RECOMMEND WATCHING S1 FIRST BEFORE S2 as this would reduce the confusion. This season is them in a parallel universe of their past not them in the modern world. I'm hoping that S3 would at least have them in the modern world but I greatly doubt that from the ending of this season. That aside, Mo Liang Cheng and Qu Tan'er are my ultimate OTP of all my C dramas. Their Chemistry was FIRE and the KISSES, OMG DON'T GET ME STARTED ON THE KISSES!!!! Y'all should at least watch this for the romance if nothing else. Jing Xing is probably the best friend ever! I loved the relationship she had with Tan'er in both the seasons. Xing Zhao Ling and Liang Jie really outdid themselves on this one. I hope to see them as a couple in another drama! Kudos to the other cast members too!
OVERALL: I think everyone should give this drama a try. Especially if what you're looking for is ROMANCE and humor lol. This is the show for you.

I love both first and second seasons, but have to admit that the second season is more flowing. The main leads are so cute! I ESPECIALLY JUST LOVE THE KISSING SCENES! THE MALE LEAD IS SO SO SO CUTE!!!! I love the apathetic, cold, capable look! I wish the ending was a little longer for both seasons. I am surprised this tittle is not rated higher! I love quantum physics aspect about time travels and parallel universe stuff. I totally LOL in a few scenes! I can't say it enough, but I love this series both season. I can not wait for the third one!!!
The both season are not long and dragged out like others. I love how the ending is longer so you can enjoy their happiness together not like others where is just show them together and that's it. Just like other dramas, there are still some of the WTF moments but over all it is GREAT!!!
ACTING:
The acting is on point! I can't complain. The chemistry between main leads are awesome! Love it!!!
REWATCH:
It is the first series I can't wait to rewatch! I would totally rewatch the interaction between the main leads. They are super cute!!

I love that they can use the time travel element to play around with the same characters and how things change!I watched this as soon as I finished season 1!
What I liked:
- Mo Liancheng! He is so good. I loved him in the modern times trying to woo Xiao Tan!
- Cheng Cheng's cheeky personality
- I loved the actor who played the Mister
- how they used the time travel
- it was nice to see the first prince with new good looking hair and costume
- the top notch OST
- the costumes and hair styles were beautiful
- the scenary was amazing
- the twists
- seeing characters from previous season changed (particularly the end shout out to the devil king! Totally didn't make connection till then!)
- I'm glad there was less emphasis of the other stupid realm
- I'm also relieved there was less of the soul-suppressing orb crap, there was enough for me to dread it though
- how well they did with first prince's story line this time
- how they added the part with the Dugu Yan
- the emperor's death was well done!

What I disliked:
- how they are always SAVING Xiao Tan. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE how Cheng Cheng is protective, but time after time, she is seems to always be in trouble or the cause of trouble. I'm not overly feminist but again (like in my season 1 review) why is someone from the 21st century acting like this ALL OF THE TIME. She's less shrill, but still somewhat dislikable. She was only redeemed by her romantic scenes with Cheng Cheng

- why is EVERYONE falling in love in this show... 14th Prince falls for Jingxin
I like that in season 3, their son is going to feature. But dreading that it looks like it will be ALL ABOUT THE STUPID ORB AGAIN
They really could have done away with the soul-suppressing orb stuff. Make this a time travel show and that's it. Why add in the other fantasy stuff - I'm all for it, if done well, but it's not really for this one! They could make it a time travel show but focus more on the politics of it all.
