p lighthearted and easy to breeze through
This was exactly what I needed! I watched this show for the second leads (who were absolutely adorable and as for every show that I watch for the second lead couple, we definitely don't get enough of them ... writers give us more than crumbs for our favorite couples!) but I ended up being pleasantly surprised! It was better than I had expected and I enjoyed it a lot! This was a pretty lighthearted watch, and although there are some filler plot points/aspects, you don't get frustrated and it's easy to breeze through the show. Both couples were so cute and this show was pretty funny! (I really thought that the secretary friend and the manager friend were going to be a thing at the end but ... she ended up getting randomly married?! I didn't really get the point of that) Eun Ho's and Sa Ra's relationship is what I came for and what I wanted out of the show, and the only thing I was dissapointed about it was that we needed more! Also Seo Hyun Jin really served us looks here as Han Se Gye sheesh. Was this review helpful to you?

No plot
The drama has a lot of great ideas but no coherent plot. At the beginning, there are enough engaging moments to keep me interested, but they quickly fizzle out into a boring and draggy marathon of underdeveloped plot lines.Han Se Gye is dynamic and quirky to Seo Do Jae's low-key frozen face. But, Do Jae never grows on me. He is a carbon copy of Nam Se Hui from "Because This Is My First Life" with zero charm and personality. Their unique conditions could've played a big part in their character and relationship growth. Instead, Se Gye's face change devolves into a series of anticlimactic mini-arcs and the rest of their interactions is boring and pointless banter.
When it comes to the plot, it's a number of half-assed story lines with extremely easy resolutions. The face-swap is interesting for about five minute until it becomes a bunch of mini-arcs that have no impact on the story and character development. The so-called "villains" are passive-aggressive, semi-infantile jerks who are obnoxious for the sake of being obnoxious with no depth or purpose, and, they are dealt with fairly quickly without creating any actual tension. Se Gye's identity crisis becomes an afterthought, devoid of any substance, as the writers choose a safer route with light-hearted comedy and regularly used cliches. What's worse, the mystery behind her condition is never explained.
Secondary characters are shallow and forgettable. I ended up skipping most scenes with Sa-ra and Ryu Eun Ho. They weren't interesting enough to keep my attention as I already struggled with the drama's draggy plot.
Overall, the show is a lot of missed opportunities to create a compelling love story between two odd people with unique issues. The drama is riddled with repetitive moments, overuse of flashbacks, and cheesy dialogue. Serious elements, that made the drama interesting, are reduced to comedy or abandoned altogether. This was a one-time watch for me.

Good start but...
The Beauty Inside starts off strong with its unique concept. However, the show just gets boring when the main couple gets together. The second half isn't great and the last act of the show dragged for me. I also grew tired of the OST because they played the same 5 songs every episode. I think it was also based on how frequently the same songs were used. I feel like the show could be better if they trimmed it down. Overall, I'm surprised by the strong ratings. The show just didn't keep my attention for the whole runtime. Was this review helpful to you?
Hidden gem
I was going to pass on this at first but was bored and found description interesting, then finding out that the disability that the main character had was actually a real disability got me to hit the play button. And thank goodness I did. What a great show with loveable characters and such an interesting twist to your typical love story. They also kept the story believable for the most part. They developed the romance at a steady pace, giving you almost no moments where you would say "ok lets move on". The actors and actress did a great job in their roles bringing a uniqueness to each of the characters.
If your looking for a unique light romcom with great characters and cast and multiple romances going on and don't skip this one.

Something is unique and amazing about it which you won't find in any other shows!
First Review so ignore the things I shouldn't have mentioned thanks :) ,So I've been at kdramas for a while now. Ill declare honestly that i've watched pretty much all the good romance ones out there. Yeah like this genre. Im a simple guy so I like Simple Romance with less Triangles and betrayals but obviously thats a dream. YET here i am, I've watched almost all the 7+ romance rated dramas out here Chinese/Korean/Japanese (some) , So why is this so different that It made me right a review.
1) NO PROLONGED MISUNDERSTANDINGS OR MISCOMMUNICATIONS.
2) I never thought I'd say this but the 2nd couple/ 2nd lead syndrome here hit me so hard, Ive never cared about other couples in any show ever, but here i think I wont be able to take it if it leaves that open. TRUST ME I literally use all other characters for my main couple all the time (yeah im selfish) , but i couldn't do it here.
3) I never thought I'd love all the characters in a show, Ive never ever done that, I couldn't fall in love with stupid villainous characters but here we are, I literally Love every single character here, and they all serve a purpose.
4) The most annoying part of Romance Dramas is the untold feelings and assumptions , but here nothing is left behind, and everything is completely cleared out.
5) I never thought I'd say this but I'm on 11 episodes, and now at this point i seriously dont care how this show ends. Ive never done that I seriously care about proper complete endings but this show seriously gave me everything. I Love every single Character .
6) Oh and Amazing Background musics and Osts, I love them definitely gonna use em after finishing the shows for a long time now ..
7) Now with all these things , Romance , Drama you'll think that the Plot or the story fells behind but no, So far its been interesting Ive been hooked , It has a strong story plot. and im sure It'll be solved in a Amazing way. I dont think this will disappoint me.
If you like romance shows, Ignore the synopsis, I've seriously put this on hold for like months, and now i regret it, Its like looking for shows while having a perfect one in your pocket. ITS SO MUCH BETTER THAN YOU THINK.
Edit: Finished it, Didnt let me down. Everything was smooth, Complete stories for everyone. The mystery the fun all there and everything solves itself in a complete manor. The story may seem to be a little weak but it completely fills all its genre and purpose. Loved it.

I'm a bit generous when I give this drama 7/10 as an overall, but I couldn't give it less since I admire the movie too much. Just like many other Korean shows, it started off amazing, and slowly but surely went on to be a waste of time. The plot was a spin on the gender: now, a woman was going to change her appearance once a month, which I thought was a bit more fair, since she turns back to herself and leads a perfectly normal lifestyle after changing back. Furthermore, I'm a big admirer of the actress Seo Hyun Jin and her work, so naturally, I had really high expectations for this drama. I knew that the actress would still shine when the show went downhill, her presence kind of saved the show in the end??? But the main flaws with this series was how unreal the relationship between the leads felt. Also, the male lead's illness was the biggest wtf I've seen in a long time (way to go, Korean scriptwriters, you're very creative). In addition, some side characters lacked screen time and you couldn't really delve into their own little stories. And the biggest issue of them all was the amount of episodes. They just purely ran out of ideas. Example A: the last episode was utterly unnecessary and had no effect on the viewers whatsoever. As a big plus, I'd say the soundtrack is very nice to listen to. That's all.
So, before watching this, give the maternal movie a watch. I'm sure you'll fall in love with the film, then you can compare it with this show. I still don't know if it was worth watching with all of the empty-meaning episodes...

It's extremely human when it comes to the relationships, aside from the Veronica Lodge-esque level of wealth between our main couple. There are no false attempts to hide their flaws, and were not talking about the obvious challenges of forced transformation or the inability to recognize your mom who is six inches away. No, we're talking about the struggles anyone might face, such as jumping to conclusions or forcing your own perception onto another. What I love about this series is how it continually lulls you into a false sense of K-drama security. You think you know what is coming, but then in a snap, it surprises you with something unexpected.

Generic but satisfying!!
A generic rom-com drama that will make you feel warm and happy inside. This drama doesn't really have a nail-biting exciting plot or head-turning twists. What it does have are cute, well-written characters and the interactions between them. If you are looking for a fun and light hearted drama with satisfying ending and great music, minus those pesky annoying scheming villains at every step, then this drama is for you.The main attraction of this drama is the interaction among all the characters. The beautiful casts in this drama coupled with the great chemistry among them makes this drama stand out from the rest. In this drama the chemistry between the second leads were almost as interesting as the main leads. The supporting characters were also great. This drama shows the impact great friends and supporting family members can have in people's lives. It is one of the very few dramas where I was satisfied with the supporting characters.
The mood of the drama is very well balanced. Even though most of the time the drama heavily leans on it's rom-com aspect there are some heavy moments perfectly placed to make things balanced. No problem is too big in this drama. They are always solved fast nicely in this drama and gets back to being the fun rom-com that this drama is.
The music was quite catchy and well placed, which complemented the overall atmosphere of the drama.
As I have said already this drama doesn't have any fresh intriguing plot and that is, in my opinion, one of it's strong points. It's a very good drama to re-watch when you are out of fun lightweight dramas to watch in a lazy relaxing day.

Before, I wasn't really fond of Seo Hyun Jin. Mainly because of my first impression on her from Another Oh Hae Young. I found her character there whiny and annoying and that impression stayed with me even after watching her other dramas. However, I was surprised by her performance in this drama. All my prejudice about her vanished. She was outstanding, both her visuals and acting. Wow! I liked the movie version of this drama, that's why I decided to watch this but my oh my, I LOVE the drama version more. So simple, so straightforward. Love everything about this show, from the cast to the OST to the story line. Love love everything.
Congrats to the whole team behind this!

Both of the main couples are interesting and keep the dynamic tempo of the show. This was a highlight for me. I also liked the secondary characters, even the extended families - they felt real enough not to be just props, which often happens in light dramas as these. Every single character had an agency, which was very nice.
Han Se Gye was an excellent lead. So gutsy, which really suited the drama. I must also give credit to the "temporary" Se Gyes, who were all highly skilled and gave excellent performances.
The downsides of the drama were definitely the culminating parts in the second half that were unnecessarily dramatic (what an unusual situation within a drama, haha) and bumped the lightness of the show and somehow rubbed me the wrong way. I also maybe expected a bit more from the main couple and maybe some originality.
The music was nice, I still keep humming the main songs under my breath.
Overall, this is a "harmless" drama, I laughed a lot and there is quite a couple of kick-ass female characters. It was worth my time and it probably will be worth yours as well.

Beauty inside is such a beautiful drama to watch . The thing that I really like is that is a generally happy drama and not fake in its happiness the relationship between all the people were protrayed beautifully . The sass level in the drama was too good . Although the story was not too unusual but it was fun too watch . If you like happy dramas without unnecessary and unrealistic love you will like this . Usually in kdramas the sasiness of the FL ends by about the middle of kdramas and she became meek and timid which is really stupid and unrealistic thankfully this doesn't overdo the fluffiness and love Was this review helpful to you?
