Very interesting and creative adaption - Bringing Sherlock Holmes to life if such a personality lived in our times
The cast really have given life to the characters in a unique way and makes you want to re-watch it many times!
The friendship and bond between Sherlock and Watson alternatives are very fun to watch, also at times moving for viewers.
Only complaint is that it be more better if the seasons had more episodes and took their own pace.

Makes you look forward to many more seasons.

Definitely recommended for weekend watching!

I will admit that I was already a fan of BBC's Sherlock, so my expectations of this weren't as high initially. Despite my negative thinking, this turned out to be a welcome surprise!

The winning part of this is by far Takeuchi Yuko who plays Sherlock; she portrayed very well the intricacies of this complicated character who is a loner that thrives in solving puzzles. While some cases were not as great, her acting saved the day with her colorful depiction of what a really intelligent sociopath is like. Unfortunately, her relationship with Wato was very unconvincing... Maybe there were not enough scenes with them to see how they bonded? It felt like their "friendship" was forced down the viewer's throat, because they really had no chemistry. I do appreciate though how Sherlock had her ups and downs with facing her own feelings, albeit a bit rushed sometimes.

On the other hand, her acting can't save the entire series as the plot can be really predictable at times, you can pretty much guess who is who and what will happen, which definitely lowers the excitement as some things that should have been obvious to Sherlock, they just are not. Also, it does not help that Wato is almost as uninteresting as watching wet paint dry (ok, exaggerating a bit) and the show could have gone almost the same without her. That says a lot about a character! The rest of the cast did not really add a new spin, but they were good at what they were supposed to do! (Except maybe Sherlock's brother, he seemed not as smart as he was supposed to be.) As another positive, I count "Moriarty"'s motivation, who tried a different approach to the character which was mostly a good thing for me.

What really lowered the show's value is the last episode. The pacing was really fast, events unfolded in a very unrealistic way and it was just not what someone would expect for the final episode. Too bad since it should have gone out with a bang!

All in all, I did enjoy this, hence I give it a 7. The music was fitting for the show, as well and I was excited for every new episode. Definitely a pleasant surprise for anyone who is a Sherlock fan.

Now this is what I call a groundbreaking, original and feminist take on the Sherlock Holmes myth. As much as I liked Elementary, except for making Watson female, it really wasn't anything special despite being hailed that way. But this one?

Sherlock? Female. Watson? Female. Moriarty? Female. Mary? Male. A complete gender switch of the main characters. And yet they were still Sherlock and Watson and Moriarty! Especially Watson - or Wato - with her PTSD because this Watson actually was in a war zone, she was injured, all the things I was missing in Elementary. Thank you, Miss Sherlock, thank you!

The only character who kept his gender was Mycroft - or Kento here - but I adored his relationship with Sherlock. They bickered but very friendly, affectionately, they loved each other very much, you could actually feel it! And the infinite trust between them!

Fascinating cases, a fantastic build-up of a great friendship, many call backs to Doyle's original - even the Reichenbach Falls! And the final case was so good! I loved that it focused on both Sherlock and Wato, that they were both involved, that Wato wasn't a bystander. I truly, honestly, deeply loved it!

General review:
As a long term fan of mysteries, especially Sherlock Holmes, this drama didn't stand its ground at all. If anything this drama was Tekeuchi Yuko and the others, that's how I viewed it.
I watched BBC's Sherlock show more than twice, and every time it felt like a new series, with all the excitement and thrill. But Miss Sherlcok, although this my first time watching it felt like a bland version of Sherlock, where Sherlock seemed sometimes to miss out on obvious leads, or be absurdly smart.

Cast and characters:
As I said above, Takeuchi has done a good job, I didn't like she sometimes behaved like a child instead of a careless character, and the poor writing of her deductions, but in general she was very good.
WATSON (Wato-san): This was the biggest downfall for this drama, I couldn't stand this character no matter what. I was taken aback when they introduced her as Watson in the 1st eps because she was everything but Watson's character. She was completely useless from start to end. Her medical knowledge was never used and she didn't add anything to Sherlock's pockets. I also disliked how unforgivably stupid she was.

Being a huge fan of BBC's "Sherlock", I really tried to start this drama without expectations. But despite my efforts, I believe that I would have enjoyed it much more if I hadn't seen the BBC adaptation first.

To me, Miss Sherlock felt like a remake of BBC's Sherlock, rather than an independant adaptation of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's work. There are similarities not only with the plot, but also with the music, the set (Sherlock's appartment, especially), and even the credits (the use of "LOCK" in the name Sherlock). I thought it was a bit cheap to copy so many ideas, when this drama is supposed to be an adaptation of the original work, and not an adaptation of the BBC series (as far as I know, at least. Or did I miss something??). I really tried to not compare these two shows, but given the amount of similarities, I couldn't help myself.

Beside that, the writing was a bit lacking in my opinion. Sherlock's monologues weren't very impressive, and her case solving didn't always give the impression that she's extremely clever (the reasoning sometimes felt a bit absurd and like it's coming out of nowhere). The plot was also a bit predictable, partly because of the similarities with the BBC series, but not only.

The cast is what completely saved this drama: Takeuchi Yuko made a wonderful Sherlock. Even though I wasn't completely convinced by her portrayal of the great detective at first, I ended up really loving her character. She really made the role her own, in a brillant way. I was also very pleasantly surprised with Kanjiya Shihori's performance, who made a very touching Watson.

Despite the flaws in the writing, I was somewhat hooked to this drama, which is why I gave it a good rating. It's probably a very good show if you haven't seen BBC's Sherlock, and still an enjoyable watch if you have. I still recommend it!

Watson is in the spotlight

Despite being born out of the bbc show, the series is quite independent and unique. It focuses strongly on finding the main villain from the very beginning. As well as Wato going through a lot after an emotional trauma to the extent where Sherlock is almost in the background. But her personally is so vivid that it doesn’t make her story uncalled as well. Her behaviour at times was highly insensitive as well as very disturbing. Especially a cat like green. But she proved to be a smart, kind and brave person and a great friend though you really couldn’t tell from the start

As weird as it sounds, I've never watched any Sherlock related movies or dramas and besides the fact that Sherlock solves cases along with Watson, I know nothing about it.
Having that said, here's what I thought of this drama:

The Good
(+) Sherlock, she's just awesome
(+) The interactions and tension between Sherlock and Wato are entertaining
(+) Wato's character. She's understandably mentally weak, but she's still kind and can be adorably naive
(+) Cases are entertaining
(+) Nice OST

The Bad
(-) Cases, even though entertaining, can be predictable
(-) Except Sherlock and Wato, the supporting cast don't have much personality to them, they're mostly just tools to move the plot forward.
(-) Somewhat weak main villain
(-) Questionable police work and investigation procedures

The Verdict
I enjoyed this show even though it has some flaws. Takeuchi Yuko did a good job with her character as Miss Sherlock. The investigations and line of reasoning aren't hard to follow so it can be watched leisurely. If you expect seemingly unsolvable cases or jaw-dropping plot twists, you'll be disappointed though.

Is Miss Sherlock my favorite Sherlock retelling? No. Is it in my top 3? Also no. But is it a solid show with some interesting themes? Pretty much.

Let's go over the good and bad parts of this show.

THE GOOD
✪ Takeuchi Yuko and Kanjiya Shihori as Sherlock and Watson respectively. Look, those are some beautiful looking women and staring at them all episode long is pretty great. Moreover, I really liked their portrayal of the characters; especially Sherlock's.

This Sherlock makes perfumes and toners, wears fabulous high heels, acts like a child and can't help her grabby hands. For me, this was all really fun. It was nice seeing a female Sherlock allowed to be... well, female. I have seen some complaints about this that baffle me--why does a female Sherlock need to be more manly? Since when did you need to act like a man to be a genius deductor? (aside for the fact she definitely has enough male traits).

✪ The sibling relationship. Most portrayals of the Holmes siblings shows us a mostly dysfunctional relationship that is mostly rival-based. Yes, they respect each other, but they always try to one-up each other. Not here. Maybe it's because Older brother-younger sister allows for the removal some of that tension, but these two siblings will protect and back each other through any situation, which I personally loved.

✪ Detective Reimon and Officer Shibata. I honestly loved these two--I loved that Sherlock obviously respected Reimon and didn't belittle him, while we still have that dynamics with Shibata--the two fight like siblings which I highly enjoyed.

✪ The cases are interesting... if predictable.

THE BAD

☛ The cases are predictable. I set through 8 episodes of always calling the twist and real criminal from the beginning of the ep. This is probably not something someone who hasn't seen many crime shows would be troubled with, but for me, who has seen plenty of those, I read the hints like a roadmap and was never surprised.

☛ The last 2 eps. Honestly, I can't remember the last time I was so aggravated with a series. I wanted to strange everyone on screen, most of all Wato whom I loved before. I kept thinking "why was this storyline necessary" throughout it all. And in the end--I never really got a satisfying conclusion!

☛ The Villain. Look, Moriarty is always a tough one to pull. But this one was maybe my least favorite one ever. They remind me of Red John from The Metalist - an almost god-like existence because we never get an explanation as to HOW they managed to do all that shit. Not satisfying, and most importantly... not interesting. This Villain was bland and forgettable and even played the part that way. If I had to listen to their monotone delivery one more second....

☛ They didn't "earn" what they were trying to do with Sherlock and Watson. I get what they were going from, but they didn't really set it up enough for the ending to feel authentic. The other versions of Sherlock did it much better ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Would I recommend this show? Probably to people who are not huge fans of Sherlock, sure. Would I watch a second season of this? Ehh... no. definitely not.

..Second Season is Possible but Yuko Takeuchi is Irreplaceable..

..from the first episode, the first few minutes, I was so amazed from Yuko's acting and how she delivered the scripts - so I started to view her profile..
.
..and as I read the article and as I watched the ending of this series I was a full shocked - unexpected ending that went similar how her career and life ended..
.
..I am zero knowledge what is this Sherlock Holmes, didn't read the book nor watch a single film of it - does it has a same story from the original, some of the comments tell it has some same story..
.
..well, the drama itself, first, kinda short due to a few episodes yet a full pack of mind blowing investigation and solving crimes and mysteries..
.
..as same as other detective drama, here, there are some part that easily to follow some were not but still, I am amazed how the situations connected to each other..
.
..the drama also put a little fun scenes where the FL acts like a child which always cut the serious scenes..
.
..also like the other comments out there, they get (even I) irritated on Wato's role - and the ending of this drama goes a so-so reaction..
.
..and lastly, this one is highly recommended to watch..
.
..the actors and staffs are genius after all..
.
..YOU GONNA MISSED MISS SHERLOCK!!..

Story ->>>> Amazing adaptation of the Sherlock Holmes series. The cases are unique and are perfectly adapted to modern day Tokyo. 10/10

Cast ->>>> PERFECT!!!! Everyone fit perfectly to their role! I found this series by following the dramas Kanjiya Shihori has played in and... just wow! She was AWESOME!! Even though I didn't know the actor that played her, Miss Sherlock was p-e-r-f-e-c-t too. 10/10

Music ->>>> The music was pretty good, but I didn't pay much attention to it. 9/10

Rewatch Value ->>>> Since this is a mystery show, the rewatch value is expected not to be high, since you know the culprits after having watched it. 4/10

Ending ->>>> The ending was surprisingly awesome, even though some questions are left. Maybe a second season? Would LOVE that to happen (: 9/10

Overall ->>>> One of the best dramas I have ever watched and definitely the best mystery one. 10/10!!!

Really really dull

I love the BBC version of Sherlock and the US version of Sherlock. Each episode of these dramas had you completely stumped as to 'who did it'.

The Japanese have two versions-both the male version and this one and they're both the same: mediocre and dull.

There's no wow factor in any of these episodes. The plot in the very first episode was intriguing but the second episode lacked enthusiasm for me. I found myself yawing midway through and the episodes aren't long!

I liked the concept of taking a female approach but it just seemed like the main FL was just too pushy and extremely rude-even for Sherlock's demeanor's standpoint. They made the actual police force look dumb. I don't even know why they were involved! The second female lead was a waste. This is the second time Watson's character seemed utterly useless!! There was no spark in the second female lead. She put me to sleep faster than what the actual episodes did.

I realized after the second episode that I was done. I made a resolve that if I ever can't fall a sleep, just watch one of these episodes. It'll be the best tranquilizer I can get.
