I thought I'd need to skim through the high school part, as I'm just too far removed from that time in my life to want to watch a drama about it, but there was some surprising depth there as the characters worked hard in their studies, figured out what they wanted to do in the future, faced bullying, and experienced first loves. The female lead Qiao Yi's (played by Janice Wu) childhood story/family history was especially heartbreaking and moving. Zhang Yu Jian playing a high school student seemed a little far-fetched to me, but I think he pulled it off decently. I laughed so hard every time his character, Yan Mo, smiled. The various relationships in the drama are so well-developed, and not only the romantic ones but Qiao Yi and her twin brother Guan Chao, Qiao and her best friend Wu Yi, Yan Mo and his 'uncle' Da Chuan.
There's only one slight thing that annoyed me, and it's that their separation could've been avoided, especially when Qiao Yi made a certain decision at one point. Why bother making such a halfhearted attempt??? It drove me crazy. Aside from that, Le Coup de Foudre is a really pleasant drama to watch.
P.S. The cloudy/hazy effect overlaid on some of the scenes was so annoying.

Not your typical drama
Well this isn't your typical cdrama. Why? Because the story feels so real and relatable. Maybe because it's based on a true story. It's a breath of fresh air for me. A story about love, family, and friendship.I usually try to avoid watching anything more than 25 episodes, because most of them have long drug out plots to extend to that many episodes. Not this one. Every episode keeps you interested on the story and characters. Two characters that really stood out for me were the step father and Fei Dachuan. Fei Dachuan was always there to help the FL. The step father was loving and supportive of the FL, treated her like his own.
This is the first drama that I'm fully invested not just on the main lead's romance but also on the second AND third couple's romance. Their stories weren't just fillers but bring colors to the drama itself.
What I like most of this drama is that there's no evil character that makes you wanna yell at the screen.
The jumping around of the time line kinda distracts me at first, but they stopped doing it after a while. It may bother some people, but the way they did the interview with the characters kinda show you that it's a happy ending since it's revealed the main leads got married on early episode.
Even though this is a more serious romantic drama, but it's real light and there were some funny moments. My favorite one was when Guan Chao stopped Yan Mo's college roommate from approaching Wu Yi at the wedding, and then later flaunted his wedding ring. I just loved his expression.

The plot is nothing new but damn the chemistry is there. This drama is also a gem people should give this a trySTORY:
I'm not sure if this is classified as a coming of age drama since the story spans from high school then time jumps to their working life. The story has been adapted from a novel which was written based on the author's real life married life. This is the story of how the author met and fell in love with her husband which was sweet. If I didn't know that this was based on the author's life, I would've had thought that it was loosely inspired by the drama "It Started with a Kiss" since they follow similar plotlines. Like for instance, Zhao Qiao Yi (Janice Wu) is someone who is not that intelligent in class who gets to befriend the smartest kid of their grade, Yan Mo (Zhang Yu Jian). It wasn't love at first sight though but more of a slow burn relationship between two desk mates and their struggle to meet halfway. I liked the way the way they had build their relationship from friends to have affection with each other. Yan Mo is that cliché quiet, intelligent male lead while Qiao Yi is the typical optimistic female lead. No surprises there. I also enjoyed the second leads, Zhao Guan Chao (Eden Zhao) who is Qiao Yi's intelligent twin brother (he always comes second to Yan Mo) and Hao Wu Yi (Ma Li), Qiao Yi's bestfriend. Add Fei Da Chuan (An Ge) to the mix and we have a hilarious group of friends. I like that at the start we know that the leads got together in the end so this drama is sort of a reminiscence of how they got together. It was like they were reminiscing while being interviewed all throughout.
ACTING/CAST:
YES! There was no doubt that there is chemistry between Janice Wu and Zhang Yu Jian. They even gave me the impression that they were dating especially when I saw the behind the scenes footage. It was either they were really good with their craft or there was a relationship behind the scenes. I heard that this was the second collaboration between them after The Oriental Odyssey and I'll try to watch that. They were a natural. It didn't feel like they were acting AT ALL. On the other hand the second leads portrayed by Eden Zhao and Ma Li also held their own ground for the story. Eden Zhao was so convincing as Janice Wu's twin brother that I could think they were actual siblings.
OST:
The OST is perfect for the scenes. This is one of those Chinese dramas where I appreciate how smart they used the music.
REWATCH VALUE:
I did. I already watched this 2 times. I might go on to a third but who knows? Maybe when I have nothing to watch but yep, try to give this a whirl because you won't even regret the chemistry between the leads. Plus knowing that this was based on the author's love story made it more interesting.

STORY
I absolutely adored the fact that we knew beforehand that the main couple would end up together, it makes everything easier and more mature. It's basically the story of "how we met in high school and ended up getting married". The process is amazing, their infallible bound is enviable. I got butterflies when they did and wanted to cry when they did. This is one of the purest love stories I've ever seen, it's not only a first love or a high school puppy love, you get the feeling that the other is the only person they will ever love. The fact that it's actually based on the author's real love story with her husband makes it even more enjoyable. It's an extract from QiaoYi's novel I don't Like this world, I only like you and I think it sums up perfectly their relationship:
"Come to think of it, when I decided to break off our friendship I didn’t quarrel with him, and when we amended our relationship I didn’t cry. When we decided to be together he didn’t confess to me, and when we decided to marry he didn’t officially propose to me– everything just happened naturally on its own accord… It was as though both of us knew that these events would happen, and that both of us were simply waiting for the right time to arrive."
CAST/ACTING
I wasn't sure at first but I loved every character and their depiction.
There are three couples and I can assure you, you will love each one of them.
The actors did an amazing job, the chemistry is great, the kisses too. Loved the dynamic of the cast.
Special shoutout to the parents, extremely supportive and caring. The relationships were perfectly written, parents-children, brother-sisters, friends, lovers.
REWATCH VALUE
I pressed the replay button for a whole weekend on my favorite scenes, that's how much I love it.

Characters were great. No weird antagonist. Only possible real life hardships and problems. Sibling relationship could be relatable to some.
Chemistry were great, very realistic on that part too. Kissing scenes are high quality for both main couple and sub couple. True love on point, I mean who can wait that long and still be inlove.
Rewatch value is high because you will find yourself watching clips for every scene as soon as you finish the drama. Reason is CHEMISTRY. Both actors really did a great job. I won't be surprised if they really date in real life. (Though they were rumored to be).

A Drama Who Holds A Special Place In My Heart
This drama saved my youth. I watched this years ago and I can remember walking upstairs so I could sneak into watching it premier. It accompanied me throughout the dark and fun times in my life. I even wished to meet the author of the book this drama has adapted to. I want to personally thank her and bringing the character Qiaoyi in this world. I personally saved the quotes I liked and until now, I use and look back to them, I deeply sympathize with Qiaoyi's insecurities. In some dramas, the writers seem to just put a random problem a character face and romanticize it having male leads coming over to solve things for them. Qiaoyi may be a timid girl, but she is strong, of course with the help of people around her. I love how the brother-sister relationship here was portrayed unlike on the other dramas where they seem to be fighting all time giving a little screen time to the times, they help each other. The two siblings are not afraid to show their affection and intention to help each other. I loved how the book was written specifically when Qiaoyi was so depressed and how Guanchao helped her with his words and actions. I love the stepfather-children relationship where dramas often portray them being evil or against with each other. And of course, I love Yan Mo's character. Am I being weird when I say he is the male lead in c-dramas who portrayed being cold but soft in the inside the best? He did it naturally! I love so many things on this drama that until now it lingers to me. I wish there could be more dramas that are not heavily plot driven but with great characters, actors, script, acting, and production and a warm wholesome. A natural romance journey with character development. A drama you could watch where you won't be stressed the entire time. Was this review helpful to you?

Its not just a puppy love story but rather a realistic romance
The first few episodes might have been confusing however as you progress to the later episode you will appreciate and love the small scenes. This drama is more realistic that most popular c-drama which made me love it. From the plot, chemistry of the actors and the acting. I finished this in just 2 days since its was interesting for me to watch. I was able to relate the personal problems of studying, habits like loving coke, family problems and many more. It gave differents perspective of the different lives around us. This is not your typical and over used the guy is very rich and the girl is very poor therefore the guy will save you and spoil you but rather it showed the hardships of getting into a college, getting a job, creating something from scratch and experiencing different types of love story. It also fulfilled my “after school setting what will happen to them” since there were many what does a normal married couple does in an evening.Give it a chance after the 3 episode mark and you will not regret, especially ep 10.

Two Cute Couples
I really enjoyed watching this show. I did some research before embarking on it and I felt that the reviews from other viewers were fairly accurate. It’s a show that’s at times funny, at times moving, at times serious, at times contemplative ... there are layers to this show.
Watch because:
- the acting is good
- cast is well-cast
- I personally like Janice Wu - she’s not super pretty but she is quite cute and acts well, very natural
- the plot moves along fairly fast
- things are explained to viewers so that viewers don’t feel lost or feel that there’s a strange gap in the plot
- characters in the show grow up and change
- realistic show
- happy endings are my thing
- good vibes on the whole
I recommend! Watch!

Meh - sweet, but not that good
I thought it was ok... it dragged a lot and the side plots were terribly written. It seems to be a combo of an original story with a festival of common tropes (the youth love, the poor clumsy dumb girl with the genius wealthy guy, then they break up due to lack of communication and reunite years later so it can become a workplace story where he's the CEO and she's an intern...yawn).There were parts of it that were sweet and original, but the main couple had less coupl-y scenes than the second couple (which I'm now wondering if they were secretly the protagonists in the head of some of the writers, their scenes were adorable). The female lead took a whooping 24 episodes before she could admit to liking the male lead. That was literally all that was standing between them. This whole time. And for no good reason. Well, he'd gone abroad and all that, but had she admitted to liking him they could've figured it out. And then when they finally got together we had more sideplot, sideplot, sideplot and barely any couple time. I feel like I should've watched a condensed version that was about 1h long, it would've been much more enjoyable.
Points for no manhandling, and no creepy stalk-y non-consensual stuff (although there may have been creepy stalking with one of the side couples, I fast-forwarded a lot of that). Female lead was a doormat and very childish. Male lead was expressionless and lacked personality. I like the actor though, he was lovely on Find Yourself.

Realistic but unremarkable
I had heard comparisons between this and Go Ahead, which I loved; LCDF though, just didn't hit me the same way. On the one hand, I appreciated that no drama was over-the-top (which is understandable, considering that it's based on real events), but on the other hand, it felt almost boring.I definitely enjoyed second ship which seemed to have a little bit more spark, but at the same time there were moments where they just kept things from each other for too long.
Ultimately though I still enjoyed the subtle way in which the leads fell in love, and I liked that there was no over-dramatic third-party villain. The characters were realistic, their problems were relatable, and the family issues were touching.

I have lobg known this drama but i keep avoiding watching it and how i regret it. I know there is chemistry between both of them because i have really hard second lead syndrome during their drama 'an Oriental Odyssey'. I really hope they will end up together there but no. Then this drama happen and I was so ecstatic.Overall this drama is so good. First i thought that this will be a very long drama before i will see the romance but oh how wrong i am. The story telling included the past and also present so it was not boring at all. Even in the first episode they already reveal the male lead as the husband, this say that in the end no matter how many obstacles they will end up together. The romance between them is that kind of that you cant see but you can feel how much they love each other. You can easily tell that the female lead is his soft spot.
Besides romance, the relationship between the siblings and the female lead's family is so beautiful and touching it makes me wanna cry. The brother will do anything to protect his lil sis and always there to comfort her, its so beautiful.
Its a beautiful drama and heart warming one, no evil character that make you wanna fly to China and slap them, no too much drama and it was perfect.
