Every seventh day of the seventh month, a phenomenon occurs at Youlan Lake that allows those who have died a chance to live again. A eunuch who cooks for the imperial family travels to the modern day and becomes a second-generation rich. Xiao Hao Zi hails from a family of imperial chefs but gets disowned due to an accident that leaves him with a disability. He is sent to the palace to live as a eunuch and earns the favor of the head chef due to his talents, all while inviting the ire and jealousy of Da Hu Zi. Upon learning that Xiao Hao Zi is secretly in love with Concubine Yi, Da Hu Zi conspires to harm Concubine Yi, which backfires when all three parties fall into the thousand-year lake.
