I laughed and cried with the characters all along. I watched the drama in 2 days, but came to dearly love the characters.
Though it did not end as I was expecting it to end... not gonna spoil that for you...again...enjoyed every moment of it.
The parallels between the 2 families with the same problem was brilliant...I fell in love with Haru's family, and came to deeply understand the despair Miwako's mother was in, though there moments I just wanted to punch her in her face...but who knows, how I would be in that situation...
This is a very deep human drama I think. The IS term is being used to explain people that they have learn to accept themselves as they are, and only then try to change themselves, or show themselves to others... If you don't know who you are, who does? Your parents? Your friends? Who knows? You are the one who decides.

This drama is not easy to watch... it touches very a sensitive topic but it SO worth to watch.
I didn't know about the existense of IS so this struck me hard... keep an open mind and watch this and see how would you react if it was you...

I like heavy themes and different situations, but this drama was mediocre in my opinion. The plot was predictable, the acting was average, and the characters were not believable. The last two episodes tried to operate with character-development, but that was too late. The only reason I could watch it till the end was Haru, for she was well portrayed. Other than her I was extremely irritated by Miwa-chan and her mother. I can't think of any other characters in dramas that had the same effect on me (that is shouting out loud whenever they did something stupid; and trust me, they frequently did).
I guess the show would've gotten a 6 from me if there were no Miwa-chan.

An interesting drama that looks at intersexuals in Japan. In that sense, this drama is quite informative as it teaches the viewers about IS and it allows viewers to see life through their eyes.
The story line regarding the other IS girl was a bit exaggerated for me, with her mother acting all oppressive and psychotic and the resolution was a bit of a letdown.
I would have liked more interactions between Haru and her senpai. But Haru's family was quite lovely and heartwarming.
A good drama that is socially relevant and interesting.

Amazing Great Drama that can be applied to current times in 2023
I watched this drama back in 2011, I was 17. I never had an opportunity to give this show a review. I must say, reviewing this now as a 28 year old woman. This show can def be related to current times and issues. I wish more Japanese dramas came out like this one. Because there are so many issues like this in current society being discussed. Please watch this drama if you come across it. The acting/story line/topics are done and brought up very well in this drama. Showing a loving family figuring out how to help their daughter who knows she is a male. Vs the other daughter who is being forced to live as a woman. They are juxtaposed very well together. Because you can see how parent's handle certain issues based on placing their insecurities onto the child. Vs letting your child figure it out and being there for them and love them unconditionally. Was this review helpful to you?
