Started this drama with only an interest for the plot. Did not expect to completely fall in love with it after just a few episodes. The last few episodes when we see more of Rong Qi definitely hit me hard, he's not the main male lead but boi his character plot really got me sobbing. Prepare a few tissues at this point. Rong Qi’s character plot was definitely one of the reasons I stuck with this drama.

The initial episodes of the drama will definitely hook you with all the mysteries and suspense. However, the middle part, say about 2/3 of the way into the drama, did drag for me. The plot started to go off the initial storyline, for instance, Ya Li's love plot. This part of the story made it frustrating to watch as it wasn't directly relevant to the plot and instead of finding out the history between characters and having a more in-depth understanding of their relationships, it lengthened the wait to find out the overall truth behind the mysteries. Ya Li’s sudden interest in Wu You unnecessarily lengthened the drama but definitely stick to it till the end. You’ll also eventually find out why it’s titled Princess Silver. I’d say have a read of the novel version’s synopsis because that will make it clearer as to the reason why it’s titled so (but do keep in mind that the drama is altered, thus will be different to the novel, so that it is more viewer friendly in China. The novel is after all tagged as having mature content).

As you get to the last few episodes, everything is explained and the truth behind Man Yao’s past and those around her is revealed, which was done beautifully. The ending was done well too, a happy ending for the main couple and one of the side couple pair. It’s a very satisfying ending but do keep a few tissues on hand cuz you’ll absolutely need it. Definitely give this a try. It's not too heavy but not too light of a watch either. Yes it’s a lot of episode but trust me it will fly by. You’ll keep wanting to watch the next episode over and over again. All actors/actresses portrayed their characters very well. There are moments when the Male lead’s acting may be a bit stiff but the chemistry between him and the female lead compensates for that. The unyielding and conditional trust between characters really makes this drama even more enjoyable to watch. Costume designs are beautiful and elegant (it’s definitely one of those dramas where costume was heavily invested on and what a feast for the eyes!) and you'll never get tired of listening to the OST.

Bias while giving review

Female protagonist is my favourite so I kept this drama in my plan to watch list .
I didn't have anything to watch so I decided to watch it . I watched it after watching " till the end of the moon " drama . The male protagonist of "till the end of the moon " drama became my favourite and he had sad ending in this drama and because of this I didn't connect myself with the drama otherwise story was good .
The story revolved around the character "Rong Le" ,three people loved her ... one Out of three , loved towards her was selfless.
Rong Qi (who was main character of "till the end of the moon) . He played the role of her brother at the starting of the drama but the end we came to know that he loved her . Because of his selfishness ,just to gain power he swayed her from him . He was wrong but I didn't want to see him in negative role.
I was thinking it was not necessary to give bad ending to Fu chou and Hen Xiang characters. Because he accepted his wrong doing and had accept Hen Xiang.
Drama was good but too lengthy.

The storyline was great and it kept me focused. I did not skip episodes! The visual effects were beautiful and I loved some of the martial arts! Sophie Zhang who played Rong Le / Man Yao / kind of messed up in a couple of scenes but I will forgive those mistakes. Unt uh, I'm not telling! I will be trying to find more dramas she is in. Aarif Rahman Zongzheng who played Wu You did very well. I love Jing Chao, who played Fu Chou / Wu Chou, in this story. The romantic chemistry between Sophie and Aarif was very good. I loved how the writers had them go through trials and tribulations in their relationship. Kudos to all the cast members because the drama couldn't have happened without their excellent acting skills. Thank you, to the team of Princess Silver!

Beautiful sets, terrible actors

The expensive costumes and scenery and set designs were beautiful, but the producers should have spent more money on better actors and a better director. It was 50+ episodes long, the pace was so slow, and I felt the story could have taken 16-20 episodes like K-dramas. The story was unnecessarily drawn out, which as a result, bored me to tears.

Also, the actors were terrible. With the exception of the good performances by the Crown Prince (Liu Hanyang) and Prince Qi (Luo Yunxi), the actors and actresses performed as if they had botox treatments - no emotions shown, only their mouths moved as they spoke.

I could only endure this show until Episode 20, then I got bored and disgusted. I let my elderly mother continue watching the rest of the show as she loves Chinese historical dramas. That is 20 wasted hours that I will never get back in my life.

If you want to see a good Chinese historical drama, watch The Legend of Xiao Chuo. Shawn Dou was amazing in it. Jing Chao, who played Fu Chou in this show (Princess Silver), was excellent in The Legend of Xiao Chuo.

OMO... OMO... OMO.... now i realized why some comment says they dropped it till epi 15... well i cant till 15 i have to stop on 13 otherwise i will have mental illness hahaha... it gives me the feeling of... HUH??? WHAT??? WEH?? WHY??? WTF!!!! I did not get the logic of the PLOT when it reached to epi 12...
#1- OK let me start.... 1st how come Prince Li can not recognize her when she just cover the eyes?? her voice, her teeth & the way she speaks no difference between Princess Qi & Man Yao... but if she dress like a man he could recognize her.. hahahaha... Funny
#2- Also I can not really understand they both like each other from the time they first met, then it become deeply in love but HOW COME (again) you will not admit that U are the Prince of Qi whom the Prince Li is crazy about?? whats ur point not to admit like hey Im the Princess that is arrange to marry U?? what gives U the hesitation??
#3- all in Epi 12... HOW come she says her Brother (Emperor) betray her by marrying the General... isn't she is the 1st to betray as she falls in love to Prince Li in different name without telling her brother???
#4- Also, Prince Li is already doubtful of her as spy of Qi, so not to expose her & the Kite Agents her brother has to change the Plan... i mean she already sacrificed to get married to a Prince who do not accept her, why not marry the General?? haishhhh... where is the Logic???
AND lastly... if U expect its romance from epi 2 or 3 till i dropped, they like each other already even a single kiss... MHEYOOOO! how can u convince ur viewer that u like or love or ur madly in love with each other even just a single kiss U did not give us....
I wasted my time... really... really... really....

FALTU

Plot goes off the rails midway after a reasonable start. Unexplained characters conveniently dropping in to complicate and move things forward with little rhyme or reason. Characters behave without consistency. Pretty one dimensional female characters (unless you believe that good women only concern themselves with "love" and have no other ethical values and only "evil" women have other motivations) It is the details that make a good drama - and this one fails miserably. Security is good only until the plot demands that it isn't. People are smart until the plot demands that they're not. The characters populating this world seems to be divided between the "I know everything" and "I am so dumb I don't know how to write my name". This is a good example of lazy and/or incompetent writing

The ML and FL were off, plus, the story DRAGGED

This story started out so promising, VERY promising, if I may add. And that promise continued into the first 23 episodes or thereabout, then the original plot line declined from there and the story went downhill. Fortunately, toward the later episodes, it did pick up, even made me quite emotional.

On the characters, I must confess that even though Kahn is a very handsome man, he seemed OFF to me, as the romantic ML. His acting felt bland and off and he seemed to lack genuine chemistry with the FL Rong Le which failed to make their acting towards each other very convincing. I tried to see the chemistry but couldn't.

The guy that played Fu Chou did EXCELLENTLY well in his interpretation as a cold, tortured, calculating, and also utterly devoted man to his woman. It was much easier to fall into his role emotions-wise than with the ML.

Lastly, Leo Luo is gorgeous, absolutely gorgeous! But unfortunately he got too little screen time through the 58 episodes of this drama. However, he did come off as highly capable in his role interpretation. Well done, man! Well done!

Peccato. Le musiche discrete, una ossessiva. Molto bella quella cantata da Rong Le : forget me.

Lungo e noioso, noioso e lungo.

No, Aarif, non mi sei piaciuto.

Insomma, poche luci e tante ombre.
