I really enjoyed this drama. I thought I started it when I could watch/binge by the time it was finished subbing. I WAS WRONG. I ended up watching faster than the subs were being done. The plot was typical palace intrigue (aka hella drama) with backstabbing. However, it was addicting due to the fact that the main female lead was missing her memories, so you keep watching to see what happens. The plot twists on here are pretty amazing and least suspecting. But I will not ruin it for everyone.

The acting was great. I liked all the leads in this series. This is my first time seeing Aarif and Sophie in a drama. I thought they did really well! Aarif's character is suppose to be stoic and serious. But when he smiles, wow! Sophie was great with her range of emotions so it wasn't like watching two walls.

Overall I really enjoyed this drama and I will try to find more dramas with the actors here.

Would like to give 8* but ended up with 3*

Would like to give 8* for overall story that writers build in this Drama.
They build a world with 4 kingdoms which has proper origin and characters with right personality.
Story is written will in which each characters playing off each other is done extremely well.
The cast and their acting is excellent. Maybe some can be better overall performance of the cast is above average.
Music score gives right amount of emotional impact on scenes.
But will give 3*.
Not sure how one person can conquer 4 kingdoms without even known by other kingdom leaders.
Sure there are some probability if one or two leaders are dump, but given knowledge and intelligence of the leaders it shouldn't be possible.
Northern Emperor's intelligence comes and goes episode by episode.
Chen Empire is not legible in story.
Martial skill of FL is coming and goes not sure why.
One human body can handle how many poison? FL been poisoned 6 times in two years’ span, all of them are fatal ones.
Never understood why Empress had to kill Lady Yun. Why did she kill FL's family? How did she become empress? How did she survive the fire and poisoning?
Why and how did she plan everything 20 years ahead? was she prophet to know every person to be born and their capabilities who may become significant officers in all 4 kingdoms to include in her plan?
Some might argue she had multiple contingencies but all her plans are rigid without margin of error even her failed plots.
Why did not memory poison work on her (she regained her memory almost immediately)?
Rong Qi has as much intelligence as fish, not sure why even bother trying to save man Er' and follow his mother’s order knowing bother are not mutual.
Other than this there are lot of small inconsistency all over the story, people disappear and reappear at random plots.
Characters skill changes from episode to episode.
So my score is 3/10 for this Drama

I've started Snow Tower but I've dropped it once I have found Princess Silver.

Very impressed with pretty much everything. Opening/closing video/music very nicely done and not many shows can compare to it, especially, opening video and music.
The strong female lead with minor physical imperfection makes her even more attractive - Definetelly actress to watch for.
Main leads are good for the roles and chemistry from my point of view is very good. Acting is quite good with just the right amount of emotions (Many drama show males crying/sobbing - I 'm no fan of that sort of thing).
Sets, costumes, and camera work are exemplary.

The fight choreography is very clean with some traditional Chinese martial art nicely implanted and just the right amount of CGI.
The white hair part surprised me as I know a person who did turn gray overnight due to extreme mental stress.

Highly recommended.

LONG BUT WORTH IT

I'm watching SILVER PRINCESS and it started out very well.. moving along at a good clip and then my heart was broken by one of those horrible misunderstandings I thought I couldn't go on but decided after just ONE day away that I wanted to know more about what happened and now I've doubled the number of episodes watched and solidly hooked.

Great Actors, some heroes, some villains and some with a realistic mixture of both traits that can suddenly flip, surprise you and even break your heart just a little and I still have many episodes to go. O.O Great costumes~ Great Scenery~ Great, somewhat convoluted story lines with lots of drama sprinkled with sweetness and comedy. Handsome men and pretty women~

All in all, while being longer than what I actively binge and having some difficulty keeping names and histories straight I'm glad to be sticking with it. Oh and while there is the main story line there are a LOT of back stories so you really get a feel for the community of characters, how they're related and the things that drive them.

I found a page in Wikipedia with a very complete list of characters, who played whom and how they're related. This would contain some spoilers so use with caution.
Enjoy~

My first review here. This drama is rather underrated outside of China. It's probably due to the lack of subtitles in other languages apart from its original language. Having watched 25 episodes thus far, this drama is becoming one of my faves, to date. While the main four aren't exactly my ideal cast from the outset, I have grown to love all of them. Especially the main OTP - RL and ZZWY. The plot (quite different from the novel it's adapted from due to restrictions, I believe) is interesting and draws one in with twists and turns. The FL is so aptly cast for this role. While I wasn't her fan before this, I now am. She is beautiful and portrayed the character's emotions well. She is one of the rare few who looks good in ancient costumes and stylings, and could bring out the flavor of 'ancient China'. The ML is just as competent and good. The ML2 and ML3 are awesome as well. Love the pace, the OSTs, the sets (most of them), the props, the martial arts, the costumes, and the adapted script. Overall, just great! I hope the plot will unfold well and will not disappoint toward the end. Still, a must-watch! Even if you have already read the novel :)

I heard that this drama was one of the BIG princess dramas that would air in 2019, and read decent reviews of the drama so I decided to give it a go. I’ve only watched up to about episode 22, but I have to say I’m debating on if I should continue or not. I feel like I’m a little too invested into this drama to just drop it but there’s not much going on that’s keeping me interested other than General Fu’s back story and his pursuit of Rong Le despite her constantly shutting him out.
I’m not one to ever, really root for the second male lead or have second male lead syndrome, but I have to say, this drama is causing me MAJOR second male lead syndrome. Going into this drama, I wasn’t blown away by Prince Wu You. I was hoping his acting and the chemistry between him and Princess Rong Le would make up for the lack of spark I was feeling from him. To my disappointment, I didn’t get riled up or get that feeling of a deep love despite the claims of deeply loving each other. It wasn’t until General Fu was introduced into the story did I feel like THIS was a relationship I wanted to see develop into something more. Especially when Wu You was temporarily gone, I was excited and hoping for General Fu & Rong Le to get closer. I also think Forgetting General Fu’s bad deeds, I think he can be sympathized with the most, growing up without a family or friends. He’s right when it comes to comparing him and Wu You, everyone is more forgiving of Wu You but strict with Fu Chou.
The last thing I’ll really say is, I’m glad the female lead is ACTUALLY a badass who can fight against others. There were moments where I didn’t think she really needed to act like a damsel in distress but I give props to her for actually being a heroine. She did get annoying at times, but it was understandable why she acted the way she did after being used by everyone.
Overall, I don’t think I’ll have any lingering feelings from this drama if I continue to watch it or choose to rewatch it. The soundtrack is decent but not exactly heart-moving. General Fu’s character, along with Rong Le’s loyal friends and Prince Chen’s characters made me really enjoy what I’ve watched so far.

the only stands out in this drama is the women. none of the female characters is annoying like most of dramas.
on the other hand the male lead character is boring. probably the actor couldnt portray Wu You very well. i dont know. all i know is i dont like the male lead. i even wish he would just die. lol
the big problem is the lack of chemestry between the leads. this drama would be better off without their love story. i often skip their scenes. they suck!

oh and i cringe quite alot seeing how the female lead, a woman who suppossed to be good at martial, falls too many time only to give the male lead a chance to catch her. lousy script!

however i need to watch how this will end, dispite all the lacks

Very Tedious

I started out really enjoying this drama thru the first 10-12 episodes and then it descended as many have already said into a tedious and boring and convuluted mess. I could not really like any of the main leads and found them all ridiculous in the end. I really disliked the female lead by episode 18 and her actions were so ridiculous and selfish at the end that I was not really routing for her. The male lead was dull and boring and his utter blind devotion to her was not really believable. Her brother even less so. While I appreciate Leo Wu as an actor his character was not a good one.. I noticed so many people seemed to like him/sympathize with him and I just do not get it. He was a horrible human being who used her so many times. Save her? He was the cause of most of her problems. If he had gotten rid of his phsyco Mother all would have been fine but I guess there would be no story. The third lead male twin brother was also pretty pathetic but he was the one I liked the most. While he was not so believable I guess I understood where he was coming from. Last but not least was the last few episodes and the utterly absurd ending. What a mess. All in all I would not waste my time on 58 episodes of constant lying, constant poisoning and utter nonsense.

Started this drama with only an interest for the plot. Did not expect to completely fall in love with it after just a few episodes. The last few episodes when we see more of Rong Qi definitely hit me hard, he's not the main male lead but boi his character plot really got me sobbing. Prepare a few tissues at this point. Rong Qi’s character plot was definitely one of the reasons I stuck with this drama.

The initial episodes of the drama will definitely hook you with all the mysteries and suspense. However, the middle part, say about 2/3 of the way into the drama, did drag for me. The plot started to go off the initial storyline, for instance, Ya Li's love plot. This part of the story made it frustrating to watch as it wasn't directly relevant to the plot and instead of finding out the history between characters and having a more in-depth understanding of their relationships, it lengthened the wait to find out the overall truth behind the mysteries. Ya Li’s sudden interest in Wu You unnecessarily lengthened the drama but definitely stick to it till the end. You’ll also eventually find out why it’s titled Princess Silver. I’d say have a read of the novel version’s synopsis because that will make it clearer as to the reason why it’s titled so (but do keep in mind that the drama is altered, thus will be different to the novel, so that it is more viewer friendly in China. The novel is after all tagged as having mature content).

As you get to the last few episodes, everything is explained and the truth behind Man Yao’s past and those around her is revealed, which was done beautifully. The ending was done well too, a happy ending for the main couple and one of the side couple pair. It’s a very satisfying ending but do keep a few tissues on hand cuz you’ll absolutely need it. Definitely give this a try. It's not too heavy but not too light of a watch either. Yes it’s a lot of episode but trust me it will fly by. You’ll keep wanting to watch the next episode over and over again. All actors/actresses portrayed their characters very well. There are moments when the Male lead’s acting may be a bit stiff but the chemistry between him and the female lead compensates for that. The unyielding and conditional trust between characters really makes this drama even more enjoyable to watch. Costume designs are beautiful and elegant (it’s definitely one of those dramas where costume was heavily invested on and what a feast for the eyes!) and you'll never get tired of listening to the OST.

Bias while giving review

Female protagonist is my favourite so I kept this drama in my plan to watch list .
I didn't have anything to watch so I decided to watch it . I watched it after watching " till the end of the moon " drama . The male protagonist of "till the end of the moon " drama became my favourite and he had sad ending in this drama and because of this I didn't connect myself with the drama otherwise story was good .
The story revolved around the character "Rong Le" ,three people loved her ... one Out of three , loved towards her was selfless.
Rong Qi (who was main character of "till the end of the moon) . He played the role of her brother at the starting of the drama but the end we came to know that he loved her . Because of his selfishness ,just to gain power he swayed her from him . He was wrong but I didn't want to see him in negative role.
I was thinking it was not necessary to give bad ending to Fu chou and Hen Xiang characters. Because he accepted his wrong doing and had accept Hen Xiang.
Drama was good but too lengthy.

The storyline was great and it kept me focused. I did not skip episodes! The visual effects were beautiful and I loved some of the martial arts! Sophie Zhang who played Rong Le / Man Yao / kind of messed up in a couple of scenes but I will forgive those mistakes. Unt uh, I'm not telling! I will be trying to find more dramas she is in. Aarif Rahman Zongzheng who played Wu You did very well. I love Jing Chao, who played Fu Chou / Wu Chou, in this story. The romantic chemistry between Sophie and Aarif was very good. I loved how the writers had them go through trials and tribulations in their relationship. Kudos to all the cast members because the drama couldn't have happened without their excellent acting skills. Thank you, to the team of Princess Silver!

Beautiful sets, terrible actors

The expensive costumes and scenery and set designs were beautiful, but the producers should have spent more money on better actors and a better director. It was 50+ episodes long, the pace was so slow, and I felt the story could have taken 16-20 episodes like K-dramas. The story was unnecessarily drawn out, which as a result, bored me to tears.

Also, the actors were terrible. With the exception of the good performances by the Crown Prince (Liu Hanyang) and Prince Qi (Luo Yunxi), the actors and actresses performed as if they had botox treatments - no emotions shown, only their mouths moved as they spoke.

I could only endure this show until Episode 20, then I got bored and disgusted. I let my elderly mother continue watching the rest of the show as she loves Chinese historical dramas. That is 20 wasted hours that I will never get back in my life.

If you want to see a good Chinese historical drama, watch The Legend of Xiao Chuo. Shawn Dou was amazing in it. Jing Chao, who played Fu Chou in this show (Princess Silver), was excellent in The Legend of Xiao Chuo.
