Wei Wuxian was one of the most dangerous and powerful criminals of all time, so even after many years, people couldn't help but worry that he might return one day to take revenge. 16 years later, Wei Wuxian woke up at the Mo Village after a lunatic named Mo Xuanyu brought him back to life through a self-sacrificing ritual. A weak beginning with no hook

Temporarily dropped this because the first 15 minutes were so boring, disorienting, & does not make sense. To put it simply, there was no "hook" that keep me invested in the story.
I guess I had high hope because The Untamed has high rating and being recommended everywhere. Then what happened? After watching the first 15 minutes of episode 1, I decided to drop the series because, frankly, nothing kept me there. Honestly, I wasn't even sure if I would ever pick this up again.I often see someone wrote about a story writing that's "all over the place". I didn't really know what it meant before, but now I do. This is a good example of that. After binge-watching 3 other asian dramas and a few non-asian shows, I sat down one afternoon and just played this on a whim as an "ambient show" in the background while I did something else. That was how I finished this episode.

Five Stars

I never read the plot of the story, so I started watching this episode without any previous knowledge. But that's just because I'm stupid and that's how I watch things. So at the moment I'm mostly confused...The first five minutes, were full of extremely bad CGI, that would have made me laugh if it wasn't for all the emotions (?!) It was so emotional even if I had no idea what was going on. I basically started crying with no apparent reason! HAHAHAHAHAAfter that I still had no idea at all what was going on, but that was really enjoyable!I loved the vibes! I'll probably read the plot at this point, because it will just make the whole experience more enjoyable! A thing that made me cry out of laughter was how choreographic the fights were! If you mix that with the horrible CGI, is so damn funny! But I loved everything about it!Other thing... THE GAY VIBES!I'm in! ??❤️

For anyone who was confused:

Ok so this ep is a bit confusing (i think its supposed to be to keep people watching, but uh anyway) heres a summary on the details of the characters and whats going on.Wei Wu Xian (the main character) is the Yiling Patriarch, whom people fear and hate. He died in the flashback at the start of the episode. Jiang Chen was the one who stabbed him, and [REDACTED] was the one holding onto him.16 years later, Mo Xuanyu used a body offering curse to bring Wei Xian back to life. Wei Xian still looks like himself, but sense Mo Xuanyu always wore a mask, people dont realize anything happened. Wei Xian has to kill the entire Mo clan (as per Xuanyu's request) to stay alive. Wei Xian can use dark magic, and more of that will be shown later. The Stygian Tiger Amulet is an evil thing over which many people have fought and died. More on it will be shown later.Ok ya,, if ur still confused about smth itll probs be explained later on..

I lost count how many times I watched it

I will not lie, this is not objectively an ideal episode. Has a lot of disadvantages. Nevertheless, every time I watch it, I discover something new and admire again. I used to focus on subtitles, now I see how much attention to detail is there. All the actors are excellent, but XZ is phenomenal. Even if his character slips somewhere in the background, if he stands almost outside the frame, he is always 100% in the role. Yesterday I could not tear myself away from the flag he found next to the puppet. This scene was shot several times, from different angles, and WWX was often in the background, but consistently dealt with the flag exactly as it should at the moment.XZ's attention to detail is impressive.

Three Stars

Decent acting makes up for the multiple flaws this episode has. TBH, this episode fails the episode 1 acid test.Over the top(kuan zhang) special effects. This episode leaves me confused about most of the details, especially the part about the vengeance ghost. It establishes a little about the main character, but not enough for me to be vested in any part of the plot.I will continue watching only because it has high reviews

Curious

His name was feared also admired. Much condemnation, but his work is used and appreciated. Not everything that happens in the past can be judged by what it looks. What really happened?Wei Wuxian's spirit woke up in the body of Mo Xuanyu, a lunatic that saved him by a body offering curse. In order to keep his body, Wei Wuxian must fulfil Mo Xuanyu's wish.
