Why does this movie have high ratings?
The movie was okay, a little frustrating. I'm surprised it got high ratings so I'm making this review with no bias. The entire movie was extremely cliche and didn't add anything new but thats okay as long as its done well but that is not the case here. I know several tv series and movies with cliche plots done well with decent writing and good cast, I thought it would be like this but I was proven wrong. I think the main reason I didnt like it is because of the female lead. She was cute at first but then she started annoying the hell out of me because of her decisions. She's really desperate for the ml, its kinda pathetic. After she was humialated, bullied and treated badly she still likes the ml. The ml too was boring and not likable. The only person I liked was the second ml but he was treated like trash even when he was there for the fl through everything. The comedy was ok, it was a hit or miss for me. My conclusion is that it could be a good light hearted romance movie, if not for the annoying characters and cringey scenes. Was this review helpful to you?

Best movie ever <33
This is my favorite movie of all time, it's beautiful I was also a fan on Love in Tokyo but with all seriousness, I rather movies over shows because I can commit to movies easier also I just generally liked it because it was so similar to Itazurana Kiss Part 1: High School Hen and Part 2&3 (Amazing movies I recommend watching them) the movie is absolutely worth watching and it's just so cute though it may make you cry once or twice and some cliches are thrown in there and that's what makes me love it even more ^_^I am kiki I LOVED this movie and it is 100% worth yo time
+ if you have any similar drama (movies are preferred ) please do tell me :3

Having watched almost all the Itazura na Kiss adaptions up till now, I was not worried really about the adaption instead, I just wished to see if this story could play out well in a 2 hour long movie since up till now I had not seen any of the movie adaptions and only the tv adaptions. And I can honestly say that for the movie version, they did pretty well. As for spoilers in the general story line, it is clear to the audience that the ML has some feelings for the FL athough, they do not seem to affect what he does in general. He still teases her, he still insults her and he still carries on with the arrogant attitude. But, the audience sees a great number of his emotions on his face unlike the anime or most of the adaptions were they try to keep the ML from smiling ever till the very end. As for the events that occur, most of them follow events in the orignial, with the exception of the ending and a couple of events in the middle. It is clear that most of this was done because of the lack of time and so, they spent time making the audience believe the romance.
ML is not as stoic as he is in other remakes, but I found him to be trying to play the same character overall, just his arc is speed up a bit for times' sake.
The ending for they got together is quite a bit different than the anime but, they tried to keep it in the feel of the story and they have a magificent kiss even if it does not follow the same events or the same conversation. The side characters are less well developed and the SML is only there for jealousy and laughs. He does not get his own girl at the end or grow. Mostly, the story only focuses on the two leads, and somewhat ignores everyone else.
But, as a movie version of this story, I throughly enjoyed it and I would recommend it to anyone who likes the anime.
But, the best adaption of this story is still the Japanese Love in Toyko one.

Fall in Love at First Kiss is probably the best adaption made for Itazura na Kiss. The story line is similar to the original though definitely has different scenes. Sadly it is just a two hour film so alot of the original story had to be rushed or altered. The acting is really what makes this film as good as can be. Darren Wang and Jelly Lin really did justice to Jiang Zhi Shu and Yuan Xiang Qin. Darren Wang as Jiang Zhi Shu showed enough emotion to carry the chemistry without being too overbearing. Jelly Lin as Yuan Xiang Qin, on the other hand really sold the movie for me. Yuan Xiang Qin's character has always being annoying to me to the point where I used to fast forward her scenes in the other adaptions. Though Jelly Lin gave us a Yuan Xiang Qin that was cute and naive, yet not a complete annoyance in her journey to chase her blind love for Jiang Zhi Shu. The chemistry between the leads was natural and the kisses where as well. I'd love to see another production with Darren Wang and Jelly Lin. A drama remake with this cast will probably do really well.Definitely give this film a watch! :)

What happens when you try to cover 12 different genres in 1 movie
No one:Absolutely no one:
Frankie Chen: What if I took 20 minutes from 12 different movie genres and smashed them all together into one film?
Watching this movie gave me such whiplash because it hurtles without warning from satire to teen romance to family drama to coming of age story to horror movie.....Not to mention the countless movie cliches like "prodigal son breaks from family to pursue his dreams," "student tutors classmate and they fall in love," "girl and boy have a romantic boat ride on a lake and of course both fall into the water," etc. Thought this was gonna be like Our Times but the male lead is even more problematic and the female lead even more hopeless. :(
It's entertaining to watch, but that's pretty much all the positive I can point out.

If you're a Itazura Na Kiss fan, this is a must watch!
I've watched several adaptations of the Itazura Na Kiss (from 1996 to the most current one, this one) franchise and like all others, had high expectations for this one. And it played out very well.Out of all the many, many, many versions of Itazura Na Kiss, this one made me ball my eyes out during that one part (you'll know what I mean when you watch it). It's of my favorite that I even downloaded it because it's one of those ones you can easily re-watch over and over.
Even if you know how all the version's gonna end, this one made me cry the most because it wasn't like the others, this was a little of their own version and I loved every minute of it.

I feel like my mouth (and heart) is actually full of sweet confectioneries, and I haven't had eaten any!!
(am not even totally joking!!)
.., so adorable.
This was well done, so many remakes most of them good. This (version) was short, sweet and very very lovely. very well executed, well acted, well written(the script, and adapted) , well directed, sweet scores and music. very cute, sweet, and lovely.
sweeeeeeeeT!
If sweetness could give your heart sweet love cavities like candies give tooth, then prepare to have your heart rotten with sweetness!!!
(high rewatch value imho)

As somebody who has watched a few of the Itazaura na Kiss adaptations, I have to say this one was probably one of my favourites. So far I've watched the Taiwanese series (the first one completely and a bit of the second one), the Korean series and some of the Japanese ones (Love in Tokyo and the recent movies), and yet this movie stands out to me.The problem with redoing this story to death is that it can get very repetitive, knowing what is going to come next (i.e. when will they fight, when are they going to kiss and so on). So I really enjoyed the slight change of plot in the movie as it made the story seem fresh while still maintaining the original characters and feel of the story. Excusing the editing of the story to fit it into 2 hours, most of the changes in plot are generally quite minor, like Zhi Shu working in a vet instead of a cafe, with the ending probably being the biggest change.
The acting was pretty good, and I really liked the chemistry between the two leads. I particularly liked that Xiang Qin and Jelly Lin's portrayal of Xiang Qin wasn't too cringey as some of the adaptations made me feel so much secondhand embarrassment. Similarly, I liked that Darren Wang's portrayal of Zhi Shu wasn't too harsh and "tsundere" as although he would show annoyance at Xiang Qin, you would still notice him smiling and enjoying himself. The only thing that really bothered me was the acting of Zhi Shu's mum as it seemed really fake to me.
The cinematography, editing and music were nice, fitting the mood of a light rom-com.
So if you're up for an easy going rom-com with a light plot to watch over the weekend, give the movie a try.

I expected more from this, but I clearly wasn't disappointed :)
I downloaded this waaaay back last year, and I was saving this movie for my romance marathon if I'm free, or in other words saving this movie since it's the last romance film I have left with Darren Wang as the main lead! I still can't move on from Our Times, and I wanted my obsession over Darren Wang to last. But today I was totally in the mood to watch this film, so here I am writing this review after watching.I've always loved cliche movies, especially those romance movies with so much angst but ends with fluffs. So I was definitely looking forward to watch this movie: the typical female chases cold male lead first, but he finally realizes that she was the one. So cliche, but so my type! Honestly, I was expecting more angst from this movie, but the story just goes up and down, with the comedy, the angst, the romance, it was a little messy if I must say. The characters were a little confusing as well, and they were portrayed "indecisive". A little annoying, but it was okay.
For me, the acting was okay. Darren playing as the cold main lead would always be my favorite, but Jelly's acting here seems a little over for me. I totally get it that she needs to act as a cheerful, lively, innocent, a little stupid female lead, but the crying scenes were just over the top.
Overall, it's a sweet romcom I definitely recommend, an 8/10 for me! ⭐⭐⭐

another sweet remake of itazura na kiss
It's a good movie to watch when you're looking for some sweet, cringey, fluffy, and funny scenes about just one main couple. It's like any other Itazura Na Kiss story line, with different details but the ending is the same. Because it is a movie, I do feel that it was a bit rushed. The scene transitions were so abrupt. It felt like they were trying to fit everything into a 2 hour time limit without thinking much about the fluidity.Initially, I was so close to dropping it because it's been a while since I've seen Itazura Na Kiss and I couldn't deal with the male lead, BUT it is the story line so I respect that. I think the reason why it has such high ratings is because the ending just warms your heart. I felt joy watching the scenes towards the ending. Just don't take it too seriously and enjoy the movie!
