Amazing Zombie Drama

I usually don't watch things related to zombies, mainly because it's been done so many times and it's usually all the same. But Kingdom is a completely different story. It has so much action and suspense and also the elements you'd expect in a historical drama. There was just as much political intrigue and backstabbing as you'd see in a historical K-drama. But it's interwoven nicely alongside the zombie storyline.

Watching this, I didn't know who to trust or who was good or bad. I worried about who would die and who would survive. All the characters are well written, the story and world-building is amazing. I can't wait for the follow-up episode and see where it goes from there.

Suspense to the very last stand...

By far the best drama I've seen this year. It's action-packed with zombies, great characters and a very believable political battle. The cinematography is highly impressive. Compared to the first season, there's a ton more scene where I felt more satisfied.

In terms of story, this season definitely tries to pull a bit of the logic to make it feel more epic or extreme. Critics may focus on this and say it wasn't as good, but in all things considered, I don't think they could have done it better. Also, there is still more to uncovered about how the zombies spread. This was foreshadowed for season three, so I would personally hold off my opinions on that until I see it.

Dropped the ball, still good tho

The first season was spectacular. Easily 10/10 from me. The intrigue, the ost, the acting, and production values were all top-notch. These things carried on. The second season is still very good. But it suffers from some serious issues that were absent from its predecessor, such as:

-Extremely fast pace. Things happen way too quickly, like tl;dr from one plot point to another without proper buildup.
-Diabolous and Deus ex machina galore; characters making stupid or overly competent decisions for the sake of pushing plot forward; especially in final two episodes where it was like wut just turn off your brain and don't try to predict what happens next
-The protagonists made two 'merciful' and illogical decisions regarding sparing people that, fortunately, this fiction has enough decency to show terribly backfire. Still, it was incredibly frustrating.
-When you have zombies pilled up below impenetrable city walls, you can just shoot them from above. Surely you have more arrows, blackpowder, and other weapons than there are zombies?
-Armor is not paper, please stop showing blades cutting through armor like that. Also, bows are not guns. Especially medieval bows. You can't just draw it and hold it drawn for a prolonged period of time without tearing your tendons.

BETTER THAN SEASON 1, THAT'S HOW AMAZING IT WAS!

~Continuation of the cliffhanger from Season 1 (The wait was torturous!!!)
~Explores various socio-political themes alongside the right balance with zombie action
~S2 manages to give a deeper character growth and perspectives for all the leads involved including protagonists and antagonists
~Jaw dropping plot twist continues for this season as well
~Cinematography exceptional as with Season 1
~Super binge worthy
~Cliffhanger ending again (WAITING FOR SEASON 3!!!)

I watched it in a single sitting, totally worth the wait!

Good zombie drama but not strong storyline.

It is a good zombie drama and easy to watch but for me there is missing development of the characters. To be honest I did not care if the main characters die or not. The main focus was on the playeg instead of focusing more on the storyline. Based on the high rating I was expecting much more.

The drama will keep me hooked but towardsthe end I was loosing interest.

Kingdom is playing dirty with me

So you are telling me that I was laying the whole day in my bed watching the first and this season of Kingdom only to wait for another one? I don't like open endings and I don't like waiting for anything. I liked this season better than the first one because there was no introduction to characters, we went straight to the point. When it comes to my liking and disliking some of the characters there are a lot of characters that I just can't even watch or look at them while doing anything because it looks stupid. But anyway, I will wait for the third season.

I felt about this the same way I felt about the first one — excited for all the zombie parts and the action scenes, but feeling like I could've gotten so much more social commentary or discussion about the human condition, instead of a lot of the politics with old bearded men that I STILL can't tell apart. I also really like that they fleshed out the story behind the resurrection flower and what causes the plague, but there's sadly a little less tension now that the outbreak is all out in the open. I still appreciate all the action scenes and the team sticking together (or not).

The one thing that stood out to me the most is the music and the cinematography — both really impressive and immersive, with some of the most dramatic and beautiful shots I'd ever seen.

Zombies in Joseon part 2

The story continues with a kingdom being on a brink of collapse in the midst of a political struggle and a bloody war between people and monsters. The plot is well balanced between corruption and war without overwhelming us with too much with court politics.

Season 2 also introduces a more well-rounded villain, the queen, who doesn't simply exist to usurp power. Being the daughter of a ruthless official, she takes the level of cruelty to a whole new level. But, although she commits countless atrocities, some of her motivations add depth to her character, unlike her father who was a stereotypical power-hungry villain.

The story is still well paced full of intrigue and interesting characters, but the ending leaves a huge cliffhanger with no promise of a season 3. Lee Chang gives up the throne in favor of an infant with no royal blood. While the infant grows up in the palace to be the future king, Lee Chang sets off on a quest to track the resurrection flower and everyone who distributes it. That seems like a nonsensical decision completely undermining everything he's done so far. But, there is a method to his madness. A kingdom must have a king. A kingdom with a history of a zombie apocalypse must have someone to ensure the dead stay dead. This decision culminates his complete character development where he becomes a selfless hero putting the national interests first rather than his personal ambition. As the show approaches the end, he comes across an eerie shack full of monsters and finds a mysterious woman there. Meanwhile, in the palace, a eunuch witnesses a worm crawling under the young king's skin towards his brain. This is where the story ends with no plot resolution and a brand new character we don't know enough to care about.

I normally don't watch zombie shows because of the gore. But here, it was manageable for me because the amount of gore was enough to be convincing without being overwhelming. The drama was so well executed, it kept me engaged from start to finish. But, the ending was disappointing because there is no season 3!

Want a series

So i watched it assuming it was a drama for some reason. And i was waiting for the second episode and guess what it was a movie TT
this movie needs a continuation for sure and i really want to see what has happened to her post the zombie apocalypse.
i am so curious cause Omg i cant imagine what the story could be!
also i really wanted the actors of the drama to be cast in this movie
like i did anticipate the cast to show up here and i was very much dissappointed
and when they showed her family living like zomibies still i was in a state of shock never saw that coming
another thing was she was raped and used my the men in that village and i was just shook beyond words and it was so satisfactory to see her take revenge upon the socitey.
this also showed us how women whatever they are wherever they are which ever era they are in will always be taken advantage of and used us rags and thrown away like trash.
wanted more action scenes obvio cause her taking revenge on those ass ho es was satisfactory af.

I could have given this a 10/10, however, the only reason I haven't is because a couple of episodes are really short and considering the series is only six episodes, that was a little bit of a let-down.
The story like the previous season was perfect, really didn't expect so many powerful strands of stories to combine into a mesh of amazingness.
Acting again was superb by the entire cast, each episode was gripping and addictive. No spoiling but I think there will be a third season and I am praying hard for one too. I could honestly watch Kingdom for at least 10 seasons if it continues in this way!
Everyone really needs to watch Kingdom! Great show!

Kingdom 2 (2020) - the second season didn't disappoint. The story did gradually reveal some answers to the questions from the previous season and that is a plus for me as watcher, I like it.

The effects, the overall vibe of the drama speaks money and I could really see how much money was poured into the drama because it's so "rich-looking". The computer effects, make up and the scenes of the drama is so amazing as well. I was heartbroken with the plot twist in the drama, I cried.

I love the actors the same as the first season, great acting.

Looking forward to the next season.
