Romance for the Perfect Couple

This drama is a sweet story of two people falling in love. The beautiful Park Min Young in another significant role. Whenever she does a drama, you get the impression that she was born to do that role. Her role as Sung Deok Mi, the curator of an art museum and a secret fangirl, was believable and cute. Kim Jae Wook portrayal of the stoic Ryan Gold, the director of the museum, was the perfect complement to their relationship. Together they had enough chemistry to satisfy any romantic junkie, like myself. It was refreshing to see a couple come together and compliment each other with their love and care.

At times it will seen like a slow process of getting there, but make no mistake about it, this drama is a romance. There were distractions to create the necessary bumps in the road to happiness, but they survived it all. The girl interested in Ryan, a distraction. The brother who wants to be Deok Mi’s boyfriend, a distraction. Director Eom, a distraction. The entire fangirl thing, a distraction and even the comedy was a distraction. Be patient, unlike me, and you will take a journey with a couple oozing with chemistry.

There were plenty of emotional moments that will tug the heartstrings and there were lots of amazing kisses.

I have been thinking of watching 'Her Private Life' again! This is probably one of the best romantic K-dramas I have watched. The fact that the show has not got lost in my fogged memory of the countless K dramas I have watched is a sign that it is a drama I can come back to. I watched 'Her Private Life' during a stressful period of my life and remember it helping me feel good afterwards. Of course, the highlight of this show is the amazing chemistry between its leads. Park Min-Young is lovely in this drama. This was the reason I was looking forward to watch her in the recent drama 'When the weather is fine' which unfortunately was not as engaging for me for some reason. I love the positive and perky character she plays in 'Her Private Life'. Both her and Kim Jae-Wook are great actors and switch between emotions effortlessly. It is their dynamic that made the show watchable even when some of the episodes towards the end were dragging. As others have pointed out, I did not find the childhood plot very convincing. I also thought that the stories revolving around some of the side characters could have been developed more but it didn't bother me much. I enjoyed the friendship between the characters of Park Min-Young and Park Jin-Joo and wish to have friends like that :).
Overall, I recommend this drama if you are looking for something light and romantic to watch. The show has compelling leads who elevate the show from being just fluff. I enjoyed watching the show and I am sure that you will too :)

You'll Love this Couple

This drama was so amazing for the simple reason that the couple was all grown-up - no stupid misunderstandings because of miscommunication. I loved the build to the romance and all the shy embarrassed experiences they had before finally admitting their feelings. Kim Jae-uk and Park Min-young had such great chemistry together which means this is one of those rare couples that just melt your heart, plus their banter was just soooo cute.

These two were couple goals truly!

The fangirling was really well woven into the story. Other aspects weren't well incorporated and ended up being...well...boring. My complaint really is that the drama dragged towards the end.

But overall fabulous drama that I would recommend.

GREAT chemistry. fun. laughable rom-com

the two actors — despite both being in the 30’s, are able to portray a couple being playful in the traditional cute kdrama way without it making you cringe compared to how their characters are normally in every day life, instead, it feels like you’ve really just watched these two people fall in love grow into their honeymoon phase.

**spoilers**

many viewers maybe saw the second half with the orphaned trauma ‘boring’ or a ‘waste of time’ but in my opinion, i preferred this plot device over a misunderstanding between the main couple or something keeping them separated. much like another very loved kdrama of mine, just between lovers, this is a character driven show which focuses on the trauma of a main character and how they deal with it. so, obviously not for everyone, but i thought it was dealt with beautifully.

anyways, i read a lot of reviews before watching that discussed how great the chemistry and skin ship was in this drama, and it’s the truth. they don’t hold back and it pays off!

DEFINITELY would rec for lovers of rom-coms and anything you don’t have to take too seriously. it’s a lot of fun.

This is a drama that only works for people that look for romance above anything else, and there isn't much conflict besides the somewhat usual memory loss and childhood sadness.

I felt like this drama depicted a few different sides of being a fan of someone's work. The lead character, played by Min Young, has a successful career and, although she genuinely cares about her idol, she puts her life and responsibilities before any fansite work or other type of fangirling. Her best friend, whom she met through a common idol, has put fangirling aside in order to take care of her business and family. There is a slightly judgmental husband, who ultimately does support his wife having idols, a "brother" who is pretty much the same, and a boyfriend who is completely sold on the idea of his girlfriend appreciating art and showing her support by being an active fan.

The twists and turns of the childhood connection between the leads requires you to completely suspend your disbelief, but that is a common trope for kdramas so I have a hard time complaining. The acting in the most dramatic moments helped, too, and it's difficult not to feel sorry for the characters even in their extraordinary circumstances.

I think the main characteristic of this show is that every character is beyond likable. They are endearing, funny and have well developed personalities. This is a story that's fun to watch, even if it could potentially make you cry toward the end. It has a lot of fluff, the soundtrack has the cutest pop songs of any other drama I've seen, and it will be difficult to finish this without looking forward to seeing all of the cast again.

Perfect Romantic Couple

If you’re looking for romance then this is definitely the drama to watch. The georgeous Park Min Young does it again with another brilliant role. I love the way she approaches romantic roles. I love her as a confident woman who loves with everything she has. Her portrayal of Sung Deok Mi, an art museum curator/fangirl, was fun to watch. Kim Jae Wook portrayal of Ryan Gold, the director of the museum, was the other half of this couple in love. These two will show you what a relationship should be. Amazing chemistry, each committed to the other, with honesty and caring.

I’m not going to nitpick the things I didn’t like, it would be a disservice to the great acting. Don’t let the side stories or the comedy get in the way. They are just there to create some drama and fun while the romance in unfolding. There are a lot of emotional moments over family and past events. Some of these moments will make you sad and some will pull your heartstrings. They all contribute to the beautiful story of two people falling in love.

There is enough chemistry to satisfy anyone who believes in true love.

Did I mention there were some steamy kisses?

This is my first review. So I have chosen a perfect series that warmed my heart.

The story is really light-hearted and warm that it is so fun to watch with a perfect blend of romance and comedy (and a lot of kisses). The emotions of each characters are well constructed and directed that the series is perfect for Binge watching.

The actors have done far beyond justice to their characters which makes the series a lot beautiful. The cast cannot be in anyway replaced with anyone.

The OSTs (my favourite being the title theme) are very beautiful and gives a lift to the series.

Last but not the least, the series does not contain any kinds of abusive characters, evil plots, forced love. That's what makes this series a perfect to re-watch when you are down.

It's a long time I watched Rom-Com drama and really Enjoy it, WOW I love every character of HPL, especially the lead role, I cannot stop thinking they are real life couple, to be honest, even they just stand beside each other but I feel so much by that simple action, his voice his gaze, KJW plays character Ryan Gold the best, I really love his acting it seems like he was really in love with Deokmi thier chemistry is lit and another level compare to the male lead PMY play with so far, with KJW she act really cute and comfort together like it was so real. OMG. the plot isn't that bad, it really fun watching and I will re-watch it again and again for real. The chemistry between KJW & PMY is amazing that melting my heart to dust, love them so much. Please cast them in another drama again!

Let me be honest by saying when I first started watching this drama, I put it on hold during the first episode. I decided to go back to it recently and finished it. I must admit that I regret putting it on hold on. It was a really great drama and with one of my favorite female lead actresses. I loved the male lead as well.

A few thing that I cannot stand in drama
1. long misunderstandings - misunderstandings were resolved fairly
2. fake kisses - the kisses in this drama were steamy! :-)
3. female leads acting all shy and coy - not a problem in this drama

I loved that the male lead was an emotional person. His love language was definitely touch. This drama gave you a glimpse into fan girls, which I found extremely interesting.

If you like steamy kisses; hot male lead that can add; minimal understandings then this drama is for you. If you do not like those things..umm keep it pushing and move on to the next drama.

Happy watching!! :-)

SO MUCH MORE than just a fangirling/idol drama! This had depth, emotion, and LOVE.

The synopsis focuses on Deuk Mi's secret life as a fangirl, but this story goes FAR beyond that! This drama tells the story of friendship, family, acceptance, and above all - LOVE.

I was honestly surprised where the drama ended up going story-wise since I was not expecting it. It was so deep and I felt like I was in a rollercoaster. There were so many hilarious moments (especially around her fangirling) that made me literally laugh out loud. How fangirling was depicted in this drama was so painfully true as well (I could relate!)! But then, there were these heart-wrenching moments of self-reflection and forgiveness that made me cry my eyes out.

The level of maturity in this drama was outstanding. Again, the synopsis focuses on her fangirling. Kiiind of immature sounding, right? Wrong. This drama hits on so many points: from pro-LGBTQ+ (this was done deliciously well and so funny too), to searching for one's passion, finding one's worth, and forgiveness. There were so many things that came together at the end and it's just beautiful.

Also, I am in LOVE with our male lead's character. Sure, he's first portrayed as that cold and aloof male who seems to have it all figured out; but we later learn that that's not really the case. He had lost himself along the way and was on a journey to find himself again. We also see him actually apologize for his wrongdoings, talk about his emotions, and CRY about his feelings. We see him at his worst and we see him at his best. He was not the one-dimensional male leads we often see these days - we see him as the strong male lead we love to watch but glimpse his vulnerability as well.

And speaking of strong leads... shout out to our female lead. Strong and independent woman right there.

Last, the icing on the cake for me was our leads' incredible chemistry. It almost felt voyeuristic watching this drama because it honestly felt like I was watching a real-life couple. They had some bumps before they to admitting their feelings, but boy was it worth it. Their touches, their smiles, their KISSES, their conversations... it was all just perfect.

Supporting leads were amazing as well. Cindy became a favourite.

Overall, Her Private Life was a well-executed drama that gave me a pleasant surprise!

This drama is a great romance with comedic moments. There is great character development among the leading and supporting cast. Although the drama is set within the background of fangirling to establish the leading female’s issues, the romance takes center stage. The main leads have great chemistry and their romance starts while they become entangled in a pretend relationship. The relationship develops while working and interacting together and shows great character development as the leads come to understand each other and to truly become a real couple. Although there is some conflict, the leading couple is not shaken and they remain steadfast in pursuing and maintaining their love. This drama is well done and the cast did a great job bringing their characters to life. Enjoy it!

A romantic comedy that executes itself with maturity and few cliches. Park Min Young and Kim Jae Wook had overflowing chemistry. The looks in their eyes could deceive you for off-screen romance with their multitude of kisses being passionate. This drama had the most mature couple I've seen in a drama that really understood each other and helped each other achieve their own happiness. Park Min Young is truly a great actress, proven by her years in the industry. No noble idiocy, no misunderstandings - this IS the perfect couple everyone wishes to have in real life. The side characters like Cindy and her mom had a nice character development, and even our 2nd lead didn't get too caught up in his love triangle and redeemed himself. The story wasn't anything special, but the writers pulled it off so well. The OST is also fantastic and fit every scene.
