Drama is slow and lengthy and there is no exciting element ,
Starting episode l like it ,then it was getting bored.
I like their chemistry in the drama " love better than immortality" his love towards her ,his affection towards her ,his expression when he shows his love towards were just wow because of this drama ,I decided to watch the prodigy healer but nothing was there in this drama .
At last part he increase his power to kill the evil but he got failed so I thought the lead female character who eat holy fruit ,both of them together mix their power and kill the evil but nothing happened ,his power was useless and she alone kill the evil and destroy herself too ...I didn't like this type of direction .
Last part he dreaming of her or she come back or that is her spirit I really didn't understand.
There was loose chemistry between them ,dialogue given to them were also not effective ,in whole drama at many point he stand at the corner only doing nothing ,only visualized the the scenario that's it ...

This was an amazing piece. Although some parts of it were unbearable, I still loved it. Both main leads had great acting. To be completely honest, the reason for this high review is because of the surprises there were on the way. If I were to rewatch it, I predict that that would be years later when I've forgotten all context. I would recommend this to anyone who likes a wuxia kind of drama. There weren't a lot of kiss scenes for those wondering. I feel that the story plot was a great idea. It was mostly about the clan/tribe in the forest that had this magical fruit. I feel that it also represents the actual society well. The waste we emit is impacting the world a lot and this story shows it.

Story: The story was interesting and it had quite a few plot twists. The scriptwriter really worked and built the relationship of the main leads so it's convincing and cute. I found myself relating to a lot of characters throughout the story. I would say the ending could've been better but I've seen worse. (SPOILER: it's a happy ending) The first few episodes were amazing. I couldn't stop watching but once I hit around episode 10, it started to feel dragged. Luckily the entire story is only 36 episodes or else I probably would've dropped it. If you power through it, you'll be satisfied. I feel that the story was very unique and cute. A good show to watch with a few skips.

Acting/Cast: I would say that the acting was very good. The main leads were perfect. The others were convincing. It was like a roller coaster with these actors and actresses. The evil ones were pretty good at hiding it.

Music: The music was very fitting and I loved it.

Overall, I recommend this to people who like magical dramas!! It's shorter than most chinese dramas and that's what makes it so great.

Highly Frustrating Plot that's NOTHING like What You'd Expect

This drama was an absolute mess! None of the characters were enjoyable to watch. There was so much potential from the trailer and drama description, but this drama was nothing like I had expected. This drama was filled with jealousy, incomprehensible actions, and a lot more conspiracies than I thought. Don't expect much development of the main couple because the trailer covered it all. That 2 minute trailer was as lovey-dovey as they'll get and was far better than the actual drama itself.

Characters: All of them were annoying in their own way.
1. Mu Xing Chen - He constantly made inconsistent actions that didn't match his words. He said he loved the FL but none of his actions reflected that. Instead, he did the opposite the entire time and you're left wondering, "what in the world is he thinking?" All his actions left the FL feeling insecure.
2. Ye Yun Shang - As the FL, she was utterly a lost cause. She often mistrusted the ML but ALWAYS forgave him just from a few words he said. Sure, she loved him and wasn't willing to give him up, but she had little to no limits and forgave him easily every time. The same went with her fake best friend.
3. Chu Tian Yao - Her character will leave you with the largest headache ever. She did whatever she wanted in her attempts to satisfy her obsession with the ML (which was completely unnecessary and uncalled for).

This was a missed opportunity since it sounded like there was so much potential, but the story and characters were far worse than I had ever thought they could be. I would suggest imagining your own plot from the trailer and drama description. For me, I wish they would've focused on:
1. The ML's life in his tribe and when the FL appeared.
2. The mains improving themselves as they collaborated as doctors.
3. How they find love in the process.
4. How they could've used medicine to help salvage the relationship between their people.

Sadly, none of that was present and this drama left me highly disappointed when I think of what could've been.

The worst cdrama I've ever watched. I enjoyed it until episode 18 but downwards it just
getting worse and cannot be saved anymore
Especially after the heroine's bestfriend
fell for the male lead. The story just gets

what drama did I just watch and did I really

drama. I love Lusi but her character in this

character. Such an unfair ending. The police who had a crush on fl deserve better. Why would the villain get happy ending while the

Only worth watching if you love the Leads

The only reason to watch this is because you saw the ML/FL in Love Better Than Immortality.

The story goes from mediocre to worse
The character development goes from bad to intolerable
The few good supporting characters goes from few to zero
Zhao Lusi's lovely voice gets dubbed & subpar at that

after ~20 the story just gets worse and worse. Obsessed people all turns evil over unattainable love as that's an excuse for bad drama

It could've been a great drama w/ the frame work. Magical land with CGI, fun magic powers, powerful healer with mysteries to be solved. Instead they focused entirely on evil obsession love.
Chu Tian Yao lives to be one the worst written characters ever in c-drama history. Completely unnecessary.

Start out good and turns to crap later on

Like many reviewers here said, the show starts out fun and promising. Definitely looking forward to both the ML and FL. I also think the series might have been too long. maybe 24 episodes or less might be better. The shows got more and more draggy as the series went on. About episode 18 onwards the story took a dive. In the last 6 or 8 episodes, it took a further dive in story telling to warrant such a low score in my review. One of the thing I personally hate is normally intelligent characters will suddenly become very dumb or overly trusting for no reason (in fact despite the contrary) just so the plot can happen and have more suffering that seems to be completely unnecessary in the overall story.

SPOILER:
Case in point is when ML was so DEAD sure her friend murders her father. Next few minutes later, she would suddenly trust her out of the blue when the friend claims to know who kill her father. So immediately believing her and sparing her life leads to her being drugged, imprisoned, tortured and the whole part has no or effect to the plot if they were taken out.

Another point that is bad for this show is a "happy" ending is sort of tag on near the end with no explanation and defy logic how the character survived just to have a "happy" ending. That's lazy writing and meanwhile the evil woman in the show is given a good (or better than she deserved) ending.

This drama was such a wasted opportunity and I don't see any strong rewatch value (except maybe the FL). Stay away from it.

Unfulfilled potential, lukewarm romance

This had the potential to be a solid drama, but left me feeling very disappointed. The world building was interesting and some of the plot devices held appeal, but the execution remained chaotic and lacking in coherent purpose. I cannot fault the acting, since everyone worked with the characterizations given in the script.

The most perplexing to me was the lukewarm romance between the leads. I have seen them together in a previous drama, where their story and chemistry redeemed a weak and boring plot. Here that was not the case. It did not help that the ML was very cavalier in his attitude, stringing along the FL's so-called best friend who was obsessed with him.

His inability to draw clear boundaries led to an ambiguous relationship with the best friend, causing a lot of tension and misunderstandings. Then the FL was guilt tripped by both fiance and her best friend for misinterpreting the obvious.

Unfortunately, not even Zhao Lu Si's acting could soothe my disapointment.

Don't watch if you've already watched 'Love is better than immortality'

Maybe I would have rated this higher if I have watched this before 'Love is better than Immortality'.

The drama itself has a lot of unique fantasy elements and lore that make it interesting. The world in this drama has an undetermined timeline but would put it around 60s of 70s based on the costumes. Then we also have a mystical forest clan who's completely unversed about new inventions but who's pretty competent in magic.

My bone of contention with this drama was the number of unexpected villains. There was basically no permanent alliances in this drama, one moment a person is a friend but in the next episode, the friend has become a villain. This really annoyed me a lot because there were certain villains that I actually wanted to die but I had really admired in previous episodes.

If you are looking for skinship, switch to another drama since there was practically none.

Disappointed

If you want to watch this after watching "Love before immortality" as I did, then you will be highly disappointed.
I watched this with the hope of being able to see my two favourite actors in action again, to be honest it was a let down mainly because of the characters and the story line.
The ML seemed to be cold, indifferent, distant and insensitive while the FL was the extreme opposite, I didnt feel any chemistry between them(something that was vastly improved in their next drama), I absolutely hated her best friend and how much she could get away with plus the ending she got as opposed to so many other key characters endings especially the main leads whose ending was unsatisfying, inconclusive and confusing.
The premise sounded so different yet promising, they could have made an enjoyable drama but they messed it up so badly with such botched story telling.
I guess you could watch it just for the sake of the main leads, but even that is not enough.

Update 8/26/21: Now I know why the ratings were so low! So many dragging episodes, letting the evil Chu Tian Yao (Xu Yi Fang) get away and not paying for her evil actions. I know not every ending will be a happy one, but so many twisted and turn in this drama, many misunderstandings (which happens in real life).
When they were flying you can tell the graphic weren't that great, you can see the wires pulling them off, leaving your imagination faded away.

The acting were ok with some of the cast. Li Hong Yi and Zhao Lu Si had a better chemistry in the drama "Love Better Than Immortality"

I feel that Mu Xing Chen (Li Hong Yi) character were more compassionate towards the character of the evil Chu Tian Yao support role (Xu Yi Fang) than the main role Ye Run Shang (Zhao Lu Si)... but that's what the writers and producers created in this drama/plot, what's more, the ending a bit confusing ??‍♀️

Nice series

The series is actually very nice and sweet, not that short nor is it extremely long. It actually started out really nice, funny, interesting. Didn´t really like the ending, especially when the power crazy possessive and unable to think straight females appear. But overall, the series is a very nice movie to watch. The chemistry and the playfulness between the male and female lead is so cute and adorable. Yet another wonderful performance by Zhao LuSi <3 The entire casts also did a very good job on this series, though I wouldn´t mind abit lesser of those crazy possessiveness of the females - especially Zhao LuSi's "best female friend" in the series. Absolutely fanatic and insane.

The thing I enjoyed most are the songs in the series. Absolutely love all the songs and find that they are extremely beautifully paired to the series! Great job everyone!
