The main female lead and main female lead’s best friend look like they are from the 70s, it does not suit this character well.

Plot is normal, with some surprises but does not interest viewers to continue watching it episode after episode. Many of the review are right, it is viewable as a past time drama but not a memorable one. If the female cast were to be replaced with someone else, i’m sure rating of this drama will be higher. No rewatch value.

The villains in this show is not evil enough, reaction of villains when being exposed was not good enough, very light facial expression. the peak and bottom of my feeling while watching does not fluctuate much, a very peaceful and quiet drama which will not raise much awareness for publicity to watch it. There is a series 2 for this drama, lets hope for a better.

Utterly freaky and weird

Ok, so I was hooked to this drama for like the first 10 episodes until that PLOT TWIST came up I was just like WTF. By then, it just started getting really weird and uncomfortable for me. I genuinely hated the remaining episodes after that and I question myself on why I even decided to try and finish it.

First, I guess the writers were trying to make it interesting and all with the plot twist but naw bruh it did not work it just terrified and made me disgusted. Basically, the main girl was told she had leukemia and the main guy told her that if she marries him, then she'd be able to get a bone marrow transplant sooner. So she married the guy. HOWEVER, it turns out the main guy either faked or switched the medical records (I watched this awhile ago so I don't remember which one) in order for her to think she had leukemia and get her to marry him. Little did we know, he knew and had a crush on her a long time ago and she did not even know he existed. So he made up this whole leukemia plan in order to get her attention and get her to fall in love with. But I'm here just like that's complete BS and wrong and creepy. That's not romantic at all. Do you think watchers can comfortably watch this after that plot twist? And after she discovered he basically held her as HOSTAGE in their own house as he put body guard all over the house in order for her not to leave. I'm like WTF? This is some toxic stuff here that I'm just utterly in disbelief on.

Second, the main guy was just really weird. Like his character was just very uncomfortable to me and the way he makes flirty moves on her before she gained feelings for him was just cringey and weird. Other than pretty much deceiving the main girl the whole time, his character, in general, was just weird, utterly flirtaciousand possessive to the point it's uncomfortable, and stalker status. The cute moments they had just made me cringe in a bad way.

Unfortunately, they ended up still staying together in the end. I wasn't happy about it but oh well. I'd rather her be wit the second male lead. Overall, this drama was just not right.

a few friends of mine recommended me to watch this show, but I was too packed while it was still airing. Only until it's available on Netflix, so I decided to give a try.

Story: I feel like this was written by a k-drama fan from 10 years ago. It contains every cliche, drama troupes that are so predictable. The only unpredictable thing is the twist in ep10, but I was spoiled about it before I started so I wasn't surprised. After finishing all the 20 eps, I feel like I wasted my times and I should have dropped since ep 12 or something.

Acting: Terrible. The female lead was reading her script. Even though I have seen worse, but I would be still disappointed in her acting. Everyone else is just as bad. Xu Kai Cheng's acting is mediocre.

Character Writing: This is probably the most crucial part of my impression on this show. The writing is so thoughtless and I cannot believe people thinks it's okay to do this. Even though, the male lead got better from the last half of the show, but I still cannot wholeheartedly accept this kind of character writing. I told my friend that I was watching a chinese version of Fifty Shades of Grey just because the male lead is a control freak just like Christian Grey (that's also one of the thing I cannot get into the Fifty Shades of Grey's bandwagon). The relationship isn't okay. It's very abusive. He's very domineering. He keeps asking her something in exchange, even if you can tell from the female lead that she was very hesitated and she keeps backing down. But he keeps insisting.

The beginning was weird but okay considering we have seen Kdramas with similar synopsis : Contract marriages.

The acting is a lot better than most Cdramas. The chemistry was cute and sweet.

UNTIL at one point it is revealed that the male lead faked her diagnosis. Thought they brushed off the 2 month bone marrow treatment to get to the cute lovey dovey stuff but boy was I wrong.

This means he manipulated her for the entirety of their “relationship.”

That’s not all. After the female lead finds out about it he fucking jails her in his home with guards and she had to come up with a plan to get the fuck out of there.

After escaping, she shares all the details with friends including the second male lead and they pretty much brush it off like yes he lied to you but have you made the decision on whether you are getting a divorce or not.

Like hello. As if there is any plausible conclusion to come to. No one’s finding his actions to be creepy and manipulative?

Then he plays the pity card for the next few episodes. Soaking in the rain near her apartment (cause she moved out. Yes girl.) when he drove there in his car. Boy, there is a car. You have a car. You are leaning on it. GET IN IT. You just want to get sick on purpose at this point. Like wat?
He does this twice.

He gets a chance to explain all his actions and this is what he had to say. “You helped me, a stranger so many times when I was in a dark place. I stalked you because I was curious (Why?) what you did day and night for 2 years.”

It changes quickly from I want to get to know you to be mine. Typical stalker behavior.

I had to click off when the female lead gets drunk from a laced drink and the second lead calls the “husband” to come get her. (Again, why?)
He gets her home and now she unconscious on bed. AND HE KISSES HER. Bitch wtf are you doing???
Then they cut to the next morning and he reveals they did it.

EXCEPT IT WAS RAPE, YOU RAPIST. Legally married or not. She was NOT in the right state of mind. There was no consent. Even if she was the one to initiate it. You DON’T get to touch her.
Everyone, just because she was drunk and said “yes” don’t mean you can touch her. It’s because a drunk person CAN’T give consent.

What I find contradicting was when the male lead went after the girl who has been trying to basically kill the female lead and tell her to cut the crap and that he would deal with her legally.
Do you even hear yourself.

So guys, He’s a psycho. Don’t associate yourself with this behavior. Just run away as fast as you can.

Rewatch value: Don’t.

Well where do I start.

I was in the mood for a nice cheesy drama with a story line that wasn't too complex.
But what I got was a psychopath controlling stalker husband, who not only faked the fl into thinking she had cancer, but also coerced her into thinking he donated his bone marrow to save her, and therefore she should repay him by marrying him.
She had ANAEMIA guys!
Surprisingly that is not the only thing wrong with this drama.
He stalked her for two years, even when they're married and "in love" he has people shadowing her, taking pictures and reporting what she does back to him. He manipulates her personal and professional life in anyway he sees fit, cancelling movies, blacklisting guys who flirt with her.
And finally when she finds out she of course wants to run for the hills but he hires body guards to not allow her to leave!!!!!
He is the most abusive ml I have seen in a drama in years.
IT'S 2019 LEAVE THAT SHIT IN THE PAST!
Also an additional crazy obsessive girl who wants the ml, hypnosis, drugging, crazy dude who wants ml to suffer, and broken family dynamics are also all included in this drama.
The only good thing was the two dogs.
0/5 stars

Ok look I am all for a good drama but this one is seriously messed up. The first 8 or 9 episodes follow a pretty basic normal drama route with typical tropes. I was all for it in the beginning but then it takes a turn into psychopath town. The main lead ADMITS to convincing the girl she had CANCER to get her to marry him. He is willing to donate his bone marrow to save her if she marries him. He orchestrates the whole thing including paperwork, “surgery”, and hospital stays when in reality the only thing wrong with her is anemia. He then admits to having know her two years prior to when she thinks their first meeting is. He had been stalking her, having photos taken of her, received updates on her from his assistant, and frequented her favorite bakery so he could see her. Once married the writers disguised his manipulation and stalking as cute and wholesome love but is later revealed to be just stalking and extreme manipulation. Once the girl finds out about her fake disease she wants to leave but he has her guarded inside the house and tells her he won’t let her leave him. At this point I am completely disgusted and disturbed but I continue on in hopes she leaves him and gets a happy ending. The main girl does not call the cops but does put up a fight and finally manages to get out of the house all the while the writers are trying to make these actions seem mostly okay and forgivable. When the girl quite literally escapes she tells a few of her friends what happened and they seem mostly unbothered by these atrocities this man committed. I finally have to stop watching once he continues his manipulation by controlling her job and buying her apartment without her knowledge but curiosity got the better of me so I skimmed the final episode. I was sickened by the fact that the girl ends up marrying him and having his child. In case anyone missed anything this man stalked her, convinced and put up a whole front about her having cancer, manipulates her entire career, trapped her in his house, controlled her once she left him, and was an all around psychopath. DO NOT WATCH THIS DRAMA! PEOPLE WHAT HE DID WAS NOT OK AND IT WAS NOT HEALTHY! HIS ACTIONS CAN NOT BE JUST THROWN TO THE SIDE AND FORGOTTEN BECAUSE HE CLAIMED THEY WERE OUT OF “LOVE”! This show absolutely disgusts me and if I could give it a negative rating I would.

When I initially started the drama, I expected a typical Chinese cliche with bad acting, plot with dramatic twists. since time and time again , I have lost hope, but this drama was such a breath of fresh air.

It had all those usual cliches, and somehow I didn’t find them annoying. They were every bit fun.

Story:
An upcoming actress is diagnosed cancer and needs a bone marrow. She happens to see a file and gets to know the match as hero. She begs him to help her and he agrees it in exchange for marriage contract.

At the beginning I found the lead to be contradictory to his character which I only understood after the plot twist. The plot twist is hard to get through, I only was able to due to the lead’s excellent chemistry.

Add in a villain plotting ways to end the hero, the second female lead plotting the female lead’s end, birth secrets, amnesia, sick grandmas.

Acting:
The actors acted fairly good, I found the main lead handsome and looked a bit Korean for me. He brought the right amounts of work addicted, unsocial rich ceo.
The lead actress was very cute, being the good character who helps people but she has a backbone too. Usually all good characters become Mary Sue ish which is irritating to watch, but here she stands up for herself, has pride, respects others. She is an ideal lead a little too good to believe but we’ll take that.

Their chemistry was off the charts. The characters had such a flow of how their relationship grew, they are very rational(except for the hero lying to her that time)
He just did what he saw his father do, not justifying his actions but I love that he grew over the drama to a person who can express himself well. His was one of the best character growths .
The best friend was very supportive and her loveline with secretary was cute but at times draggy for me.
The other are of the drama is my dear second male lead, the bromance he had with main lead was very cute. Also the bickering between him and female lead, and their relationship in entirety was very cute and they had good chenistry too.
The second female lead was paper cut character of this childhood friend on love with lead, and wants to own him. She does despicable things but it doesn’t get on your nerves as much, so don’t worry.
The antagonist was well played, very cute actor with dimples and all. But his character was too one minded, potential to develop was there but they made it too unbelievable.

Rewatch:
I’ll probably watch it again after some even after the big reveal it will be fu to watch it, especially their chemistry damn!

Overall:
I would recommend this drama very much. I love it, some might hate the twist and drop the drama, but it’s a great one with cute leads , awesome chemistry, endearing side character, a bit of evil ones you can hate occasionally.

I am shocked by how many people loved this drama. I don't mind a dramatic storyline or even a far-fetched premise, but in this case it was appalling and manipulative to an unforgivable extent. Had they included scenes of the entire ordeal, no one would be shipping the main couple. I wanted to continue the drama to see how this is handled, but based on other reviews, it would only frustrate me further.

Up until this point, I had thought this drama was enjoyable. I loved Chu Yan and his friendship with Xia Lin.

Completely Misunderstood Drama!

***** SPOILERS GALORE!!!*******

So, this is going to be more of a response to all the negative feedback this drama has gotten instead of an actual review. And it’s LONG so bear with me.

I just watched this for the 2nd time and I might have liked it more the 2nd time around.

I think people completely miss the point of the entire drama and the message it sends throughout. It’s about forgiveness and letting go of hatred and anger and choosing to make drastic changes to yourself to be good to, and live a happy life with, your loved ones.

The drama makes a firm fine line right down the middle of people bad people who choose to continue to hold on to their selfishness, hate and anger, and those who finally realize how bad they truly have been but choosing to accept the chance they’ve been given and changing themselves for the good. Standing on that line are their loved ones who make them face their bad behavior, give them a chance to change and fix things and motivating them to do so with their love. In the end the loved ones continue on to live long happy lives with those who’ve changed, putting the past behind them, but completely cutting out those who chose not to change from their lives, even as they forgave them as well.

That’s EXACTLY how it should be!

Too many viewers got so caught up in ML’s horrible behavior once it was exposed, even going so far as to say the show let them off or made light of it. IT DID NOT. Not at all.

In fact ALL of the bad behavior in the drama - with the exception of a whole lot of dumb, dangerous and even disrespectful behavior of the FL - was shown to be wrong and intolerable. To say they made light of that behavior is extremely inaccurate. They drama acknowledged how scary and disturbing the ML’s behavior was, and the FL did NOT forgive him easily but - not at all. However, not only was she already in love with him but, a major part of the FL character’s personality was her extremely forgiving, trusting and accepting behavior. So it would make LESS sense to show her not being willing to at least try to really get through to her HUSBAND to help him realize just how wrong and scary, his behavior was, so they could still at least have a chance at making the marriage work. It was clear that she would have left him (exactly as she did) if he didn’t change his ways. And his behavior wasn’t because he was crazy and obsessive. It was made clear that behaving that way is what he was taught and shown, so he truly didn’t understand that it was wrong. FL (and to some extent his best friend) was able to finally get him to understand, so she could then give him a real chance to prove he could change his ways. When he clearly was still not getting she even said that she questioned the point of continuing to try if he didn’t even see why his behavior was wrong. But once he did she was able to give him that chance which he took her up on and did! COMPLETELY! Not once did he behave in any of those ways again. That’s how it SHOULD be. We’re talking about families and loved ones here. Real love. Not that weak shit. I say again, they were MARRIED, and both believed very strongly in the sanctity of marriage so OF COURSE they would, and did, give it their absolute best to make it work before walking away.

Those around him saw the goodness in him so they were willing to give him a chance and he didn’t let them down. That’s a beautiful thing!

Same goes for 2nd ML’s very abusive father. They (and even the character himself) acknowledged how horrible he’d been to his son all along and how wrong that was. But, again, this drama was about forgiveness and 2nd chances.

The ones that took those chances and changed themselves for the better - the ML, the best friend’s father - were accepted and completely forgiven. They ended up having wonderful relationships with those characters.

Then there were those who couldn’t let go of all their toxic behavior - the spoiled princess who just couldn’t accept being told no, the severely disturbed and damaged half brother who clearly didn’t know how to manage his anger and pain (not surprising with the parents he ended up with once his real mom died), and the selfish as fuck mother of the ML. Even the girl who was FL’s assistant who chose to continue to follow the step-brother, clearly choosing to continue on the wrong path as the FL literally, clearly tried to show her during the kidnapping! How viewers didn’t get this is insane to me!

Anyway those characters, while forgiven (so they could really let them go and move on from them) were completely cut out of their lives one by one.

That ABSOLUTELY shows the horrible behavior being addressed!

In fact, that the ML could be as good to FL as he was was actually a miracle with his upbringing, neglect and those fucked up genes is itself a miracle.

I will say though that too many of the FL’s bad decisions and actions went completely unaddressed. Walking into a strange man’s house (she’d literally only met him once before when she bought a tie from him) and then going into his house to cook for him - again, a complete stranger! - is the dumbest, most dangerous thing I’ve seen in a while? What woman does that? That’s just begging to be raped or kidnapped or both. And then running to his house in the middle of the night in LINGERIE and then getting drunk and falling asleep?!!! WTF?! First of all you are a married woman. Why tf are you even running to another man dressed like that? Completely inappropriate! But…ummm, rape much? None of this was even remotely ever addressed. And then! Promising her husband to stay away from his step-brother but then, the next day! - doing exactly the opposite because you didn’t want to offend him?? Like WTF woman?! Knowing how her husband felt and having PROMISED that was just wrong on so many levels. THIS is where the drama was inconsistent - she valued marriage but her actions showed a lack of respect for her husband, even for Western culture. In Eastern culture it’s flat out madness!

It’s unfortunate that so many viewers missed the point of this drama completely. It was actually extremely well done. It sent a good message and did so right in your face. But, somehow, people still got completely caught up and stuck on the bad behavior, and missed the positive message entirely! Which, when you think about it, is pretty ironic given what that message was.

The show starts out as a decent romance drama with some funny moments thrown in. Then, before long, you realise it has a completely twisted depiction of romance.

It's fair to throw in dramatic plot twists, but the way the show depicts the main plot twist (revealed around episode 10) as 'something the main characters just need to work through' is nothing short of disturbing. The show essentially tries to rationalise deceitful, manipulative, controlling relationships the same way victims do before they get help - only the victim here doesn't get help, she submits to the perverse charade.

This is a problem when the show then tries to sell such a dysfunctional relationship as a wonderful, budding romance. Instead, it only serves to emphasise how the male lead shouldn't be in a relationship at all and the female lead needs to seriously re-evaluate her life choices. The problem is further compounded by the inappropriate placement of lighthearted romantic music in some scenes to cover up just how creepy the situation is.

Ultimately, this show tries to pass off an obviously unhealthy relationship as a positive romance and fails miserably.

Save yourself the trouble and just do not watch this.

I personally think this show is complete and utter shit
It contains so much horrible stuff eg. toxic relationships, drugging, kidnapping, manipulation, stalking, false cancer diagnosis, sociopathic and possessive behaviour from the male lead, and so much more.
The way they executed this show is just horrible and do not even get me started on the plot!
Oh the plot, it is disgusting and I am so disappointed in the writers.
It is so difficult for me to comprehend that this came out in 2019.
There is also the Stockholm syndrome due to the whole ‘I am going to lock you up because I love you and I do not want you to leave me’ and the ‘don’t worry I have fallen for you so if I do leave I’ll come back’ thing.
Highly recommend if you are a fan of equality and rights to avoid this show.
I am just so done.

Not your typical contract marriage romance... Because it's the WORST! SHOULD'VE READ THE REVIEWS!

I actually already knew this drama received bad reviews, but I didn't read them because I was not gonna watch it then if the reviews are bad. So I don't really know the plot and all.

But I'm still tempted to watch because I like the visuals and chemistry the lead actors presented in few ads that I saw for this drama. They are cute together and all that. I held out from not watching this drama, until I saw that this drama is in Netflix. To not really waste my subscription, finally I braved the waters and watched the drama.

God I tell you! THE PLOT IS THE WORST. I carried on with the silly plots of amnesia, hypnosis, etc. I just skipped through them really. All I watched are the sweet romantic scenes of the leads because that is really what enticed me to watch this; the lead actors' chemistry is really great.

But oh boy, a manipulative and abusive male lead?!?! ARRRRRRRGGGGHHHHH
I don't want to narrate it here what the male lead has done! Read the other reviews, they already laid out there the ridiculousness that is this drama.

After that plot twist, I still held out because there is still our boy Chu Yan! Seriously, he's the BEST MAN here. Well he may be a bitch to our FL at first but man he is seriously our best man. ML doesn't deserve this man as his friend. I'm so satisfied when Chu Yan punched Ling Yizhou twice. He likes Xia Lin, but he just accepted his fate of unrequited love because of he respects FL. Instead he just stayed by XL's side and comforted her and all that. CY and XL are always protecting each other. They are there for each other. And.... THEY KILLED HIM OFF! GOD JUST LIKE THAT THEY KILLED HIM😠😡. They just put the hospital that he's in to fire and then he died 🤦.

I planned to still hold on to this drama for our assistant Wen Lin and fl's bestfriend Jia Fei. But I'm tired of FFing this drama. I can't finish this. I'm done!

Well-Intended Love? More like Well-Manipulated Love. Fudge they had second season?!?! Tsk tsk. I wish I could see the lead actors in another project together, with a plot high above than this mess.

I hope I would not encounter this drama's scenarios in real life.
