*There is a spider in this episode. In our first episode we meet the MC TangSan, and his father TangHao. They live on the outskirts of a remote village as blacksmiths. TangSan practices hidden martial arts skills taught to him by his father. On his way into town to deliver some iron tools, he faces off against a Man Faced Demon Spider and blinds one of it's eyes. Before almost getting a fatal blow by the spider, he gets saved by SuYunTao, an officer from spirit hall. SuYunTao awakens TangSan's spirit, though he actually has two spirits, Blue Silver Grass and Clear Sky Hammer. He also has Innate Full Spirit Power. He's invited to go to an academy to train to become a spirit master. Before he leaves, his father makes him swear to never to show his Clear Sky Hammer, never tell anyone about his hidden skills, and to never join spirit hall. TangSan then sets off with the village chief to start his adventure. Both TangSan and the audience don't know at this point who TangSan's mother is, only that he did not grow up with her around. We also don't know who/what Spirit Hall is, only that his father has a bad relationship with them.

Read the Novel Disappointed with the Live action

Honestly Tang san in the novel is 6 yrs old when he took the exam in the drama he was kotenof an adult already, the personality of tang san in the drama is very different from tang san of the novel, and I can honestly say that as a big fan of the novel im quite disappointed with the adaptation, although the Effects, scenery and all others are good:) I guess i will watch this forgetting the novel so that it could be better appreciated

Alternate story

I believe I have to watch it for alternate time and space as even in the first episode already got mix up by giant man face spider chasing the pratoganist, I wonder how the pratoganist get his 8 spider lance? And he is suppose to be dreaming his past life when he was in tang Sect.

Worth waiting for!

I have been waiting for this drama to start. It left questions I cannot wait to find the answer to. Characters are well developed. Xiao Zhan great as expected (acting ability excels). Co-actors worked hard also, it shows. I'll be waiting to watch more, although I am not in China, I’ll be searching online. So far, well done!!!

Why I rated it 10/10?

I already rated the first episode so high because out of all the Chinese animations it is my favorite one. i have watched the animation all the why through with the episodes they have at the time more then once also watched random episodes out of order as well. Ialways look forward to the next episode to come out every Saturday.

Backstory

They did an absolutely great job depicting the backstory of Tang San. It wasn't overly exaggerated and expanded into a huge plot story but instead clear & to the point. They told you about the world in small details to get you interested but not enough that you would know everything all at once. I also think the way they showed time passing was excellent, they didn't tell you directly but instead just showed the seasons passing. Clearly they wanted to shy away from stating Tang San's age but also wanted to show that time did pass throughout the episode - just never stated how much time exactly. The CGI & camera work was absolutely phenomenal as well - you can totally see that they spent time & effort in it.

I get hooked immediately, I have not had a chance to read the book, however I will definitely read it. If the show is that great, the book has to be great.
