would rewatch once in a while
I really really love this drama. It's one of those top tiers puppy love dramas. The plotline was interesting and the cast was good. It actually devastates me whenever Rowoon disappears despite watching the drama multiple times. The male main character was slowly introduced around ep 3?? and I really liked that. Hyeyoon's acting is top-notch, her energetic and outgoing character was prominent and makes me think whether she is like that in real life. I have always been Rowoon x Hyeyoon couple. I never really thought that Jaewook was a better match than Rowoon.Tbh I didn't really like skz's ost, too much autotune sounded off.
I would rewatch this once in a while if I yearn for some love dramas hahaha.

funny and enjoying
overall i really loved this drama. the story is very original and the potential it had was insane, however i think in the second half it became a bit repetitive and the rhythm slowed a bit, i was more curios about the secondary characters other than the main protagonists, and i think they could focus a lot more on the background stories that were very interesting, i would loved to learn more about them.i enjoyed it a lot!! and i had a lot of fun but i would not rewatch it.
one thing i want to say, or better two things, rowoon was amazing and the osts for these drama are absolutely beautiful!!

This drama is by no means perfect and does have some plot holes but in terms of the overall drama, it is just so entertaining to watch, and is just the an overall good light-hearted rom-com drama in my opinion. I also absolutely fell in love with Kim Hye Yoon and her acting in this drama. Her character is the exact opposite of her character in Sky Castle and she plays it to perfection.

Good in the beginning!..tapered off at the end...
I was really happy I found this drama at first. I was looking for something a bit different from the usual and it was a welcomed break for me. Let me start with the things I didn't like.1. I didn't like how long it was. If felt like it was too long and for no reason. It started off great but after a while I kept checking how many episodes were left.
2. Took too much time introducing characters that DID NOT MATTER!! I think this upset me the most. What was the point of Kyung's little brother?
3. Did not give enough time to develop the characters that they did introduce. The Squid guy for example...did anybody really care that his long lost love came back? Not me! Wasn't developed properly.
4. Spent way too much time with the highschool love triangle drama...and there wasn't even a love triangle... the FL always wanted the ML.
5. I did not like that they did not tell the first story properly. I still don't know how, why or when the leads fell in love! Do you?
6. SO many unanswered questions.
7. Was at times confusing.
What I did like:
1. I like Rowoon in this. This is my third drama with him and I actually liked it a lot! This is the first one he wasn't shouting every time he spoke and I actually thought his character had depth and underwent some growth.
2. I actually like the OST.
3. The chemistry was good.
4. The concept was great although poorly executed.
I don't think I will watch again, but it was a good watch that was different from my usual.

When this show is good, it's really good! Eun Dan Oh and Haru's romance is cute and sappy as heck, Dried Squid Fairy and Lee Doh Hwa are great supporting characters, and even Baek Kyung made me feel a lot of feelings. It's also notable that this show manages to balance comedy, romance, and psychological horror at the same time. Everyone's comic book characters and only a few are self aware about what's going on! Haha.... but also, the existential dread is There. I love it.The Trumpet Creeper flashbacks were also pretty good, and they were the best part of some episodes. Extraordinary You lowkey trying to be a historical drama on top of all the rest lols. Have to say the most interesting parts of Trumpet Creeper were Dried Squid Emperor's everything and whatever fucked up relationship was going on between Baek Kyung and Haru (is it just me, or is Baek Kyung's attitude towards past Haru like his attitude towards present Eun Dan Oh? It was weird and good and bad).
However, I still rated this only 7/10 because there are a solid number of episodes in this show that do basically nothing for me, repeating plot points with no progression over and over again. How many episodes are basically Haru saying "We'll change the plot", Baek Kyung saying "Don't change the plot", and Eun Dan Oh waffling while Lee Doh Hwa and Dried Squid Fairy et al play around in the background and no scenes are actually changed, or plot relevant? Too Many, making the second half of the show drag. Still, the last couple episodes have the pacing speed up again, and overall the show is pretty good.

Fantastic
Extraordinary You was the first kdrama I ever saw. I mainly watched it because I'm a kpop Stan and wanted my first kdrama to have someone, an idol, that I know in it. When I saw Rowoon was in it, I decided to give it a try. First off, the score is mesmerizing, absolutely amazing. The OSTs are great as well. I had gotten in VERIVERY before watching Extraordinary You and didn't even realize that My Beauty was already in my playlist when I watched it. Cool coincidence. Along with the score, I thought Extraordinary You had a compelling story. The comic idea was great. Overall, I thought Extraordinary You was a great drama that was well acted, and a great introduction into Kdramas as a whole. Was this review helpful to you?

A truly extraordinary story
I was taken by shocked at how good this show was. I decided to watch it because I thought the cover looked pretty. But by a couple of minutes in, I was quickly intrigued. This show was funny, heartwarming, and even heartbreaking at moments. This plot is intriguing, the characters are well developed, and it always keeps you asking for more! This show kept me 1000% satisfied from beginning to end.In the show, Eun Dan Oh, a girl with a heart disease who's been in love with the same person for the past 10 years, finds out that she lives in the comic book world as an extra. She decides she wants to find the person who can help her change her fate. That's how she meets Haru. They together decide to change their fates together.
My favorite characters would have to be Do Hwa and Dan Oh. I thought Do Hwa's story was so heartbreaking. I can't help but love his character. I feel he deserved better. Maybe he and Joo Da can be together in the next comic? Hopefully. I really like Dan Oh's character. Her determination to change her fate and be with Haru was very beautiful to me. She wanted to be herself and not some character controlled by somebody else. She wanted to be with Haru. And her determination to be in control of herself was something I really enjoyed seeing.
My least favorite characters are probably Nam joo and Kyung. I love the character development that Kyung had. But there were definitely a lot of times where I wanted to tell him to shut the hell up. He was so rude to Dan oh. But when he saw her with Haru he suddenly gets really jealous and stuff. I'd like to forgive his character, but I can't. Nam joo however was just annoying. I know he wasn't conscious and all, but I really thought the way he was always like "I don't like when people touch what's mine" and stuff. Joo da isn't an object. And she doesn't belong to you either. Joo da said she liked Do Hwa and Nam joo. But Do Hwa could survive on his own while Nam joo needed her. I got really upset when I heard this. I think Do Hwa and Joo da could have been really good for each other. I think the main reason I didn't like him is that every time he spoke I cringed. But I think this also added some good humor to the story.
I know that the ending was unsatisfying for some people, but to me, it was comforting to know that no matter how many times they get thrown into a new story, they'll always find each other. That was heartwarming and satisfying to me.
If this show gets a season two I'll definitely be watching it. They could definitely have another season. I think a lot of people would enjoy that. But even if they don't, I still think it ended well. While I am curious about what happens next. As I am with most shows.
To wrap it up, this was a truly extra-ordinary show. Get it? This show made me laugh, cry, smile, and yell. I highly recommend this show to everyone and hope to find more like this. Because this is definitely one of the best shows I've seen.

In a way, it is your typical high school romance but the fact that the drama plays with the usual tropes while being critical of them makes it more enjoyable.
One of its strong points is Eun Dan-Oh's character : she is very likeable. First, the fact that she apprehends her situation with humour: I especially enjoyed her disgust at some of the dialogues during the ''stages'', it was one of my favorite things all along the drama. I also liked how she stays upbeat and optimistic even when she appears helpless and her situation hopeless.
I liked that some of the characters were deeper than I expected, especially Baek Kyung. He makes the story not so black or white. He is the mean guy but one who is confused and searching for his own self. I think his character embodies how many feel at his age : you are behaving the way that is expected of you but questionning your identity, trying to find what you really like and who you want to be.
I liked Haru. I agree that his character is not well developped but I find it nice, for once in a drama, that the male lead exists only for the female lead... I liked that his character is calm but not cold and indifferent as this type of character tends to be.
The thing that makes this drama not so perfect is the inconsistency. First, in the rythm of the drama : the first episodes are really good and grab your attention quickly as does the end but the second half gets slow and draggy. Then, there is the acting. I still don't know if it is Kim Hye-Yoon's acting or Eun Dan-Oh's character that is not well framed but I found that there were many moments where I was not convinced by the portrayal of the character. Her demeanor was sometimes too different from what I think Eun Dan-Oh is supposed to be. Especially during the romantic scenes. The last thing that bothered me is the editing. I liked how they incorporated manga effects into the editing. I found the shift between the stages and the shadow to be such a good idea, But why couldn't they use all the different effects throughout the whole drama?
Finally, this is a great high school romance drama. You will get the usual clichés but with a twist. The story is deeper, more complex and the lead characters are refreshing.

This is only my opinion aand no one have to like the dramas the others like it !
I've watched this kdrama last summer (august 2021) . It was my friend's recommondation 'cause she really like it so I watched it and it worthed my time . I liked the couple so much ; they are so cute and lovely . I liked also the plot ; it doesn't have any relationship with the real world but it shows the world of our imagination .Kim hye-yoon (Dan-oh) , Rowoon (Haru) , Lee Jae-wook ( Baek kyung) and all the cast did their best in filming this masterpiece.
I really hope you like it because it deserve the time you spent on watching it . I finished it in just three dayse because of the vacation but you don't have to watch it now if you have exams or school ;)
I've watched like 2 times and I love it more and more . I hope this review help you wiht your choice either if you want to watch it or not to , nobody is forcing anyone to do anything they don't want to do .

There's no logic in this show. Don't even try.
The story is SO good, but left so many questions and plot holes open.We get our main main female lead in this show. Dan-oh. A girl who has a heart problem while having a 10 year crush on the second lead, Kyung. Let me say that Kyung was one of the worst leads, regardless of his change later on. As I did feel bad for him some scenes, it doesn't change the fact that he NOW liked Dan-oh when there's competition. Haru, the main main male lead. I love him and Dan-oh together yet he barely has anything to him. He's nice and sweet but that's it? Pretty boring at some points. Dan-oh at least had some good sass in her.
There's so many other plots they could've given episodes. During half way in the show, (Episode 11-16 I forgot) it focuses on the love triangle with Ha-ru, Dan-oh and Kyung. What? Their was no point for that. As I sometimes like love triangles. This seemed too cliché. Y'know Second Lead realizes that he can't live without the Female Lead so now fights for her. So common.
When other people (Do-Hwa and Kyung) found out that they were in a comic. They had ZERO reaction. Or at least has a reaction for a scene/couple of minutes and then went back to how they lived. Not even worried on what the writer could do to them.
The whole knowing each other back in the past, ALSO CLICHE! In so many kdramas they make it so the male lead and female lead knew each other back in the past. Wasn't really needed in this show. The plot also became repetitive a bit with the love triangle and whole Dan-oh heart problem thing. They could've made it a bit like the drama "W" and on how they would find the writer of the book.
Episodes 29 and further were kind of un needed. Dan-oh losing her memories about Haru and loving Kyung. The writers wasted plot right there. It would feel weird for me to even give this a 9 tbh. We also don't know how Haru appears, who's his family, why Dried Squid is named Dried Squid, and more. Waste of plots.
Romance with Nam-jo and Ju-da was a bore.
The only thing I really like this show for was A3, it reminded me of F4. But, this just became a typical high school drama midway.
The acting is amazing! Not enough to give a 10 though, didn't cry throughout this show at all.
The Music was good to! I really liked some tracks in their.
Re watch value is that way so you could probably re watch to make more sense out of it and to watch some Dan-oh and Haru moments if you want. I would recommend but don't even question the logic in this show. I couldn't even find it myself. The romance is very cute in my opinion though!

One of the few dramas where the side characters are the best part
Oh boy do I have conflicting thoughts and feelings about this drama. Some aspects of it just make me want to rate it 9,5 but at the same time other parts really disappointed me and lowered the score of this drama for me.Well, first of all, the first half of this drama is excellent. The plot is gripping and the characters are relatable and easy to like (here I mean specially the actual main/self-aware characters). There are many mysteries initially that keep you invested, Haru is very endearing and him and Dan-Oh have cute interactions.
The problem began in the second half. Honestly, although adorable in the beginning, Haru was just such a flat character. His scenes with Dan-Oh presented us with some cute moments, but were just boring to watch and I didn't care about them as couple. The writers literally repeated the same plots with these two over and over again, so their scenes together were more of a drawback which stagnated the plot when the drama should be advancing since it was nearing the end.
Also, if you want answers for the questions you might have when you start watching Extraordinary You, keep your expectations low cause by the end they provide very few explanations. I let some of it slide initially because it was a comic book world, so some crazy stuff was bound to happen, but at a certain point it just felt a bit like lazy world-building. A lot of things simply happened out of convenience and reflected the very loosely stablished rules for the world, such as the resolution given to Dan-Oh's heart condition, which made no sense at all, just to give an example.
Besides that, I think some of the characters were kind of cheated. I don't want to get too much into spoilers here, but like, come on, Do Hwa and Kyung didn't even appear in the endind scenes! To be honest the supporting characters and the resolution of the plot were the only things that kept me from dropping this drama. I loved the interactions between the self-aware characters and I wish the writers had showed much more of their friendship.
Other great aspects of the drama are the OST, which has some pretty good songs in it and the acting is very solid, too. Now onto one of the greatest surprises and my favorite thing about this show: Kyung. I cannot believe I'm saying this, since I hated him in the beginning for being the most annoying little bitch, but as the drama progressed he developed so much, he honestly had the best character arc with a proper redemption in the end. It was hard to keep liking and rooting for Haru when he was basically a piece of cardboard compared to Kyung, the most complex character in this entire story. I'm not the type to have second lead syndrome, but damn Kyung got me good this time.
Although a bit rushed, most of the final episode (or the final two episodes, in this case) was great. I liked the bittersweet tone that prevailed and there were some quite emotional scenes. It's just the very end that bothered me. Anyway, all things considered, this drama has some amazing aspects but it lost a lot a bit of its shine in order to focus on the boring and repetitive stories between the main couple and too many things go completely unexplained, still, I'd recommend you watch it for the great side characters, their arcs and relationships.

Good Drama Overall
overall, i really liked this show i simply had one tiny problem with it. it was the fact it would suddenly arise issues that were only necessary for one character aka Haru. and the last issue was namjoo and jooda, i did not find the storyline between them interesting at all so I would catch myself doing something else in between their scenes.overall my favorite characters were mainly the whole main cast, like: Eun Danoh, Haru, Baek Kyung, Lee Dohwa.
id rate it overall a 9/10.
