Sae-ro-yi

I've always liked Park Seo Joon as an actor I think he's quite refined but just two episodes in and I am completely blown by him and by his portrayal of Park Sae Roy, just amazing. I must say I've never really cared for Nara much but I really do not like Oh Soo Ah (I was really shocked to hear myself say that out loud while watching this episode). She does not deserve an ounce of his love, she is not only selfish and disloyal but also a coward. I just couldn't understand how she stood by silently, I mean she might as well had testified against Sae-ro-yi, the son of the man (who was brutally murdered might I add) she says she respected and loved to go to jail (wrongly) but not only that she accepts money in the form of a scholarship (which is money) and no it doesn't end there; she ends up working for the company that ruined her friend's life and murdered his father. Side by side with his killer, what?I hope Sae-ro-yi gets to meet someone else who shows what true love means and only then will Soo Ah understand what she truly lost when she choose herself over her friend. I wasn't sure how I would feel about this drama but I must say I find myself already invested in Sae-ro-yi and Dan-bam!

DOESN'T DISAPPOINT THE ONES WHO HAVE READ THE WEBTOON

THE PLOT HAS ALWAYS BEEN AN INTERESTING ONE AND THE DRAMA SO FAR HAS REMAINED TRUE TO ITS SOURCE EVEN THOUGH THERE ARE QUITE SIGNIFICANT VARIATIONS TO DETAILS. BEING A FAN OF WEBTOON I WAS AFRAID THAT IT MIGHT DISAPPOINT ME BUT AS OF NOW THE DRAMA IS DOING JUSTICE TO AVID FANS OF ITAEWON CLASS. AND AS EXPECTED FROM PARK SEOJUN, HE HAS PORTRAYED THE ROLE OF PARK SAE ROYI IN A VERY REALISTIC AND CONVINCING WAY. AND THE REST OF THE CAST INCLUDING Kwon Nara as Oh Soo-ah, Yoo Jae-Myung as Jang Dae-hee, Ahn Bo-Hyun as Jang Geun-won AND Son Hyun-Joo as Park Seong-yeol HAS ALSO DONE AN EXCELLENT JOB. AND TALKING ABOUT 2nD EPISODE, FIRST OF ALL, IT HAS 2 TIME LEAPS. (THE 3 YEAR ONE AND 7 YEAR ONE)BUT EVEN AFTER HAVING 2 DRASTIC TIME LEAPS THE STORY DOESN'T SEEM TO BE QUICK PACED AS WE CAN GENUINELY UNDERSTAND THE NEED OF THE LEAPS AS IT GIVES VIEWERS A CHANCE TO WITNESS THE TRANSITION OF THE MAIN LEAD SAE RO YI AS WELL AS OTHERS. I GENUINELY CRIED THROUGHOUT EPISODE 2 AS IT WAS A HEARTWRECKING ONE. WATCHING HELPLESS SAE RO YI WHO LOST EVERYTHING WITHIN A FEW DAYS AFTER BEATING UP THE SPOILT CHAEBOL JANG GUEN WON.
AND THE THING THAT INTRIGUED ME EVEN WHILE READING THE WEBTOON WAS THE RELATION BETWEEN SOO AH AND SAE RO YI. BOTH OF THEIR ACTIONS AND CHOICES ARE JUSTIFIABLE IN THEIR OWN WAY AS SOO AH'S BBCAKGROUND SEEMED TO BE CHANGED A BIT AND LIKE SAE RO YI I NEVER FELT BAD WHEN SOO AH PROCEEDED TO ACCEPT SUPPORT FROM THE RIVAL. THEN IT WOULD BE BAD TO NOT MENTION ABOUT THE WELL PLANNED SAE RO YI WHO KEPT HIS PROMISE OF BUYING A PLACE TO RUN A RESTAURANT IN ITAEWON AFTER 7 YEARS, IT WAS INCREDIBLE SEEING HIS DETERMINATION AND PERSEVERANCE. WHAT IMPRESSED ME WAS THE FACT THAT HOW PARK SEO JUN REALISTICALLY PORTRAYED SAE RO YI AND HOW WELL HE SHOWCASED EVEN THE SUBTLE QUALITIES OF SAE RO YI. I HAVE ALWAYS LOVED HIM SINCE SHE WAS PRETTY AS IT WAS THE FIRST K DRAMA I HAVE EVER WATCHED. IN EPISODE 2 WHAT GAVE ME CHILLS WAS THE SCENE WHEN JANG DAE HEE TRAINED HIS SON GUEN WON TO BE RUTHLESS BY MAKING HIM KILL THE HEN BY TWISTING ITS NECK WHICH ALSO HAD SOME DIFFERENCES WHEN COMPARED TO ORIGINAL WEBTOON SCENE. I COULD SEE THAT GUEN WON DESPITE BEING A BULLY HAD GUILTY CONSCIENCE AND IT SHOWED HOW HE WAS STILL A TEENAGER INSIDE. BUT AFTER THAT INCIDENT HE IS TURNED TO A COMPLETE MONSTER BY HIS DAD WHO HAS ALWAYS BEEN ONE. THE DARING OH SOO AH IS CHIC AND CUTE AT THE SAME TIME AND HER GROWTH TO A COMPLETE INTELLIGENT WOMAN IS JUST LIKE A WARNING TO THE VIEWERS TO BE BEWARE OF SECOND LEAD SYNDROME. AND HATS OFF TO KWON NA RA, SHE DID WELL IN PORTRAYING SOO AH. THE PLOT DEVELOPMENT MAY SEEM FAST BUT LET ME SAY THAT IT IS ONLY GOING TO MAKE THE DRAMA MORE ENJOYABLE. AND I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE THE FIRST MEETING OF SAE RO YI AND JO YI SEO IN THE UPCOMING EPISODE...
