Not for those who are used to big-budget shows!

I was not expecting too much when I started watching the drama but surprisingly, I enjoyed it quite a lot!!!! It's obviously a low budget and has its own shortcomings in terms of cinematography, sound effects, etc. Nevertheless I found it very cute and the actors certainly did their roles way better than some famous actors in big budget shows. Their acting and chemistry was natural enough to make me forget about the bad lighting or sound. I'd certainly love to re-watch this show so there's the another plus point.

I liked it.

Ok it's a low budget but come on. .. anyone here should only be concerned with what is the director producer trying to portray. I thought it was genuine and engaging....Maybe I should give it a 10 to be inspiring for Chinese BL but it was for sure a 8, Genuine honest fun carefree and real all within a 15 minute episode of 10. Both actors were awesome with their parts and scripting was very appropriate with the above instilled. Han Jing deserves a special mention for he really rose to the occasion with his character and his genuine and light hearted emotion was all over the screen. Bravo! I would hope to see these both in a future BL. There is something about the Chinese BL that I find very endearing. Maybe it's cultural and different as with other BL's. Very worth watching and I will watch it again when I need to see genuine emotion.

Cute yet predictable story, low quality production

You know when you read the reviews and really get curious if it is really that bad? Well, as I started with very low expectations, I was pleasantly surprised.

Yes, the quality of the drama is very low indeed. Even a school project wouldn't get away with some of the more obvious flaws. Of course, it is low budget, you can't expect stellar acting performance or elaborate sets. But a lot of the issues have more to do with sloppy filming/ production and complete disinterest in detail or set atmosphere than with lack of money.
Watch the red pillow for example, that moves in each scene, that should have been blatantly obvious to everyone. Sometimes cutting is at fault and actions, that should be in process (e.g. walking) start like someone said "Go". The Set appears as if some (female) crew member volunteered her apartment, and no one bothered to redecorate. Nothing against pink in the room of a guy who lives with his mother, but still, would the character as it is introduced really feel at home in that atmosphere? I would have imagined something much clearer in design, less frilly pink. And really, did no one speak English to translate what is written on the bedsheet? It says something like "Mrs. always right"! Could have been funny if it were a present of Ying Jiaming, but just like that? Naaahhh... There are more sloppy things like that throughout the drama (which does make it funny in a way).

The story is nothing special, but I've seen worse. Predictable and not original, but well, doesn't have to be. There are gaping plot holes as if things that were supposed to be in the drama were cut. I don't understand how the motivated Ying Jiaming from the first episodes transforms into that boring guy without any spirit later on. And why on earth would the heir of the company president end up in a coworker’s apartment if he is injured? A cheap hotel room would have made a more convincing set than that. Some of the dialogues are cringy indeed and I can't picture the characters as introduced saying something like that.

Still, all in all, it is a cute little drama that doesn't take much time to watch. I won't watch it again, but there are more dreadful ones out there.

This drama is good and really bad at the same time :)

I'm not bashing the series for the low budget but I do feel like I'm watching a first-year film school project: awkward supporting actors, weird background music choices, incredibly bad sound editing, bizarre jumps in scenes, the over-the-top fixation with Luigi Zhang's face... It is clear that this is an amateur production.

However, it's cute entertainment. The two main leads are doing their roles well considering the lackluster direction. There are some very funny bits as well (the girlfriend scene in episode 3 was ridiculously funny and the stalking scene in episode 7 was adorable.). It's too bad the budget and politics restricted them so much because the story has a lot of potentials.
Overall, you will probably walk away thinking this was just awful, but I guarantee that you'll watch the whole thing because you couldn't help yourself. Take it for what it is and just have fun with it.

Low Budget ....

Why I even watced this is beyon my understanding ...

It was really terrible in my opion, Low budget is literally putting midly, the actors were not well matched the sound effects was so poor, and meng yao was so annoying wasting 10 years of her life on someone who absoulty no interest in her at all, the music was not one that you could add to your playlist.

By the 7 episode i literally had to start fast wording just to get this over with.
Was this the best thing I have ever watched?
Nope.
Will I watch it again? Nope,

Overall, it feels like someone had a personal story to tell, needed some plot to set it in and this is how, the further you go, the better it gets. Plot wise at least, acting has it's moments but it's not the strong side.

May be low budget but it's a good watch!

Granted, it has all the tropes of a BL. The dubbing was a little off and yes you can hear sounds of the wind and rain a little stronger at times. The fact that this came from China was a total shocker! I realize Hong Kong is separate from mainland China in terms of politics so we were lucky to get this little gem of a series. If nothing else, we should at least give them ratings based on the share fact that this was able to come to fruition and we should support them regardless.

As for the content, I think it was good enough to send me through all the typical emotions...happy, funny, mad, heartbroken and satisfied. There were a bunch of little cute moments that were funny and had me giggling. If you really look at Junjie's facial expressions, they weren't really that stoic. A good actor is capable of making you feel what's going on in their head just by their eyes. He had glints of devilishness at some points and then endearing stares at other times. Jiaming is a softer and less aggressive version of Gu Hai but is a good actor in his own right. He owned his lines and facial expressions. As for the bedroom scene, I don't think it was the fault of the actors but of the film editors. They replayed a few parts over and over so, when Junjie is looking to the side, I think a director or something else was causing him to look to the side since there were no speaking parts ATM and the editor forgot to cut that part out. I might be wrong, but that's the impression I got.

Overall, I liked it. It's a little over an hour long if you FF thru the intros and credits/next episode previews so it's a good little story to satisfy the watcher and not much time lost if you don't enjoy it. I probably wouldn't watch it again just because it's short enough to remember all the details but that shouldn't stop anyone else from giving it a chance!

I can understand the reviews from other users. Because yes this is a low budget production but seriously this was so indulgent. I binged it in a day, it was fluffy and had all the cute elements but still angst and pining from the sides. Like especially the two main leads were so good in portraying the characters. It's so much better than some 'high cost thai BLs' which just seem to queer bait these days and trash fan girls for humor. I'm not saying that this is one of the the best BLs because obviously the production quality was bad and the plot could have been better but I'd highly recommend to watch it!

Low Budget, But Addicting!

I was excited to watch this BL as it has been marketed as the first Chinese BL in a while due to the ban on gay content in the country. It was also the most anticipated series on MyDramaList for awhile before it started to air! I watched the first episode as it was free on GaGaOoLaLa. This BL is quite low-budget with weird camera angles, off-putting background music and cheap sound effects. The sound editing is also a bit unclear. However, the story is quite promising as it sets up the cat-and-mouse relationship between a company executive and a lazy employee. I'm excited to see the next episodes and to see where the story goes from here.

On a side note, I don't think that one of the leads is going to die (which many people have joked about since it is a Chinese BL). Since funding for this project was from outside China and I don't think that this series is airing in China, I think that it could circumvent the ban (hopefully)...

Upon watching episodes 2 and 3, it is clear that the production is very low quality. The sound editing and cinematography are both quite poor. The acting of the side characters are quite atrocious. This series feels like a school project to be honest. The only good thing about this series so far is the chemistry between the two leads which is clearly palpable and the character of Ying Jia Ming who injects some life and excitement into this low-budget production with his charisma and free-range spirit. I doubt that the production will get better but hopefully, by concentrating on the central relationship, this series can become something good...

Episodes 3 to 6 were decent. I enjoyed how the two leads' relationship began to build as they got closer. I look forward to seeing how their relationship will progress...

Episodes 7 and 8 were quite good! Fantastic chemistry between the two leads. My heart broke when Ding Jun Jie chose to stay with Mengyao instead of going home with Ying Jia Ming, but they quickly reconciled! Yes, the series is low-budget but the story works. You feel invested in their relationship. It's funny and heart-warming! I absolutely adored that interactions between Ding's mother and Ying, especially how she treats him like a son-in-law!

Upon watching the last two episodes of the series, i was so disappointed that Ding's mother forced Ding to break up with Ying. I thought that she would have been accepting. How upsetting! Though they do keep seeing each other on the DL, so there's a sliver of a silver lining. I would have liked a better ending though where Ding and Ying are able to actually be together in the open, though it wouldn't have been very realistic, especially with Ding's mother's heart condition. It sucks how she shames/guilts him into choosing her over Ying. I hope in the hypothetical future that Ding and Ying are able to be together, whether that means that the mother died or accepts her son, at least they would be together...

Great story line..Great music..Great chemistry

I totally enjoyed this drama. The acting was great made so by the chemistry between Luigi Zhang and Han Jing Cheng. The entire cast did a great job in portraying their characters. The music was so enjoyable to listen to and so befitting the story line. I sincerely hope that we can witness more great performances by these fairly new actors Luigi Zhang and Han Jing Cheng in the future. I understand that this drama isn't everyone's "cup of tea" so to speak. I respect their opinions and reviews and hope that they in turn can respect my feelings towards this drama. I've watched it several times and never tire of it.

Familiar Story Rings True

This is a familiar formula of boy who bullies his love interest because he doesn't know how to properly express his feelings or even understand them. The big plus for this series is we get to focus on our two lovers without the distraction of sub plots. The kidnapping sequence was a bit over-the-top while the scene between Din Jun Jie and his long-time female friend Meng Yao was more realistic. I thought there was going to be a love triangle with Ding Jun Jie's childhood friend Jiang Zhihao but that didn't develop. Too bad because the storyline was a bit bland and a love triangle would have made this much more interesting. Nevertheless, Jiang Zhihao's outrage at being dumped for a girl is a very real dramatic moment -- maybe the best second best scene in the piece. The ending, while tragic, also rings true and the writer does a good job of giving our heroes a hopeful future. I'm giving the music a 10 -- particularly the song used to underscore the snow montage in the final episode, which I assume is called "Buried in the Past." This snow scene is beautifully rendered and really sells the cold misery of our two lovers. Well done.

Despite the fact that the quality of this series was not perfect, and sometimes (not always) it seemed almost amateurish, the end of the story still intrigued me, touched me. I appreciate the ideas expressed, especially in the last part, and in that, this part has a benefit for possible viewers all over the world and in China itself, where gays are not a bed of roses, especially when it comes to censorship and the neglect of homosexuality in the media.

The absolutely cute Han Jin Cheng (Ying Jiaming's character) made it to the acting average for everyone with a very good performance, which was very believable.

WHY ISN’T THIS CONSIDERED A COMEDY?

Srsly, just don’t guys!! I get that it’s a low budget film, but this is just downright being lazy. I feel like all their scenes are one takes.

I’ve only managed to finish watching till the end because I enjoyed pinpointing all their mistakes and laugh like crazy. So unprofessional. From the bad timing of their subs, to the sound of the footsteps, to how the support roles say their lines monotonously and how they tried so hard to stick to some bl tropes ugggh!

Bed scene was the hardest shit to watch. I can’t believe they even tried to make one when they’re really not that into it. At least pretend to like it, my gaaad! You’re actors for bl’s sake!!!

Don’t want to rewatch ever again.
