Good Enough
" Kiss me at the stroke of midnight " was an okay rom com.The movie deals with a typical high school romance that turns everyone's fantasy of a girl next door meeting her celebrity crush, into reality. And, of course, he will like her as well. There were some cute moments, as the couple had chemistry and looked good together. There was some drama too.
But the overall story is predictable and cliche. The characters felt one dimensional, especially the leading lady, with no background, no plans for the future or actual personality other than the basic cookie cut one they were introduced with. That is not to say that the actors were bad; they were actually really good and their performances were enjoyable. However, the script didn't allow them to really shine.
So, overall, five out of ten.

It's a story about an idol turned actor who fell in love with a high school girl.
The acting was just okay and in my opinion they lacked chemistry and it felt like the story was rushed but it's what you get when you watch a manga adaptation. I think it is part of the charm but it's like a curse too.
I think this movie is much relatable to normal men or women who have dated celebrities. After the break up it's like a shadow follows you everywhere when you see an ad billboard, watch tv or movies. It could be difficult to move on past the relationship.
The best friend is just adorable I wish he had a happy ending too.
The OST was okay.
The movie overall was just an okay. The trailer ruined it for me.

This movie offers an incredible storyline but for me, the pacing felt a bit slow at times, which made it lose some of its spark.
While there isn’t a big, shocking plot twist, the story is still engaging in its own way but I still enjoyed it. Go give it a watch, guys I think you’ll find something to appreciate in it!

But like always there is alway minor problem not a big deal. So the only thing that I was like what was that he had like a fetish with butts but it was fine and not really big deal. I haven’t read the manga so I have no idea why he has the fetish. Please let me now why he does if you guys have read the manga.

A very lighthearted romance drama
If you want to watch a sweet light hearted romance drama, then this movie is it. The movie gives a glimpse into the dating hazzles of an idol.An actor idol Ayase Kaede falls in love with an ordinary high school student when he comes to her school for a shoot and how their sweet romance story progresses is portrayed here. Not much of a story but how the idol actor manages to date his high school sweetheart among his busy schedule and the consequences the couple face when reality hits is shown here. I liked the amusement park date night.
Ayase Kaede San played by Ryota is cool and his smile stole my heart. The characters I liked most were Ayase's Manager(played by Endo Kenichi) and Hinana's best friend Aachan played by Maeda Gordon. Aa chan was kind of cute and supportive. I didn't mind if Hinana ended up with Ryota or Aa chan because both couple are cute(just my opinion).
It is good to watch it once. They should have included a passionate kiss between the lead actors, even though kiss scene is there, not very passionate, so a bit disappointed there.
If you are looking for a light hearted sweet high school romance drama, then watch it already!

A Decent Watch with Room for Improvement
Normally I'd sing the praises of a drama with Ryota Katayose in it. However, I feel that the acting in this drama could have been a little more serious over all, and while I adore him as an actor... I think I might have enjoyed it more with a different actor in his place. I was surprised by the female lead - I'm not really one for too much of the starry-eyed female leads, but at the same time this really worked for me in this film. The story was okay, but they mention this hobby of his and that's really about it. I went into watching this film thinking that this was going to be a major issue in the story and it wasn't. It was misleading and might have added a bit more oomph to the story overall if they had focused on it just a little more. The romantic aspect of the story was alright, and I liked the overall premise surrounding their relationship toward the end. Maybe if there had been a different buildup to the climax I would have been more impressed with it.

Too cliche & just another Fairy Tale Story
I don't read the manga version, so I don't know if the movie version is rushing the plot or not. But overall... the story is just so-so. It's kinda like a fairy tale.. I'm kinda confuse because without strong reason and right after some coincidence meeting, suddenly an idol fall in love with the female lead and want her to be his girlfriend..despite the age gap and different background. The fetish issue that being told in the synopsis about the male lead is only shown a bit in the beginning of story, but then he seems very normal after all.
The girl is too naive but she is still in the high school so it's pretty normal. The plot is just too ordinary like in many others romantic high school movie with triangle love, childhood friend, amusement park date, jealous scene due to a classic set up and artist scandal.
I'm not really impress with the acting as well, but both leads are good looking. The genre is not really rom-com, there is not much comedy.
The issue in the boyband is kinda interesting, but it just another side issue.
The piano story is very cliche. This drama lose its main focus.
By the way, the actor's manager is too damn old. They should choose another young energetic actor to play the role.
Well if you are expecting dreamy plot then this drama is right for you. It just doesn't really make sense to be happen in real life for me.

Meh
I thought this was a good film if you like films with unrealistic but cheesy romances. The story was similar to a Disney movie called “Starstruck”. It was also referenced to Cinderella due to gifts she received and mentions of a prince in the story and the film title + ending scene... Though Hinana was never a Cinderella or slave to any stepsisters at all. I thought it was cute but felt it was far too rushed at the end And their relationship was I felt too quick as he only had just met her and was basically kind of like stalking her and appearing at random. I felt sorry she didn’t end up with her best friend who always loved her but she never got over her first love. I would’ve liked him to get with a girl who could love him. I really liked it because it had a comedic aspect which was light but Not overbearing as many teen movies in Japan have. The music was good as they had english and Japanese songs and I liked that. (Why is Exile Tribe always in these movies Though?). Hinana wasn’t developed enough as a character to find out more about her past. Like what happened to her father? Unless I missed that and also she didn’t have much of a studious nature, it just wasn’t developed though indicated... they could’ve shown her rejecting romance for a longer time period like In the movie starstruck before showing she secretly liked it. I also felt the butt fetish thing wasn’t developed enough either and creepy that he looked at horse butts Which was to me disturbing . I recommend watching it if you like high school type happy movies But don’t like “romcoms” so much. Was this review helpful to you?
