Both dramas reunite two actors, Huang Sheng Chi and Ma Xin Yu. However, Mountains and Oceans is quite darker (especially in the last episodes) and the two actors have very different parts in the two dramas :
-in Believe in Love, Huang Sheng Chi is the male lead and Ma Xin Yu is his sister, a spoiled noble lady
-in Mountains and Oceans, He’s the second male lead with a tragic fate while Ma Xin Yu has a much more important part, the second female lead and villain of the story who gets consumed by hatred and envy for the female lead and that you will definitely hate to the bone (but her performance is stellar !)

At first the girl got to know one main lead and she feels attracted towards him, followed by knowing the other guy.
In Mountains and oceans both the heroes are brothers and they both fell into love with the heroine, whereas in Tears in heaven both are almost-brothers and best friends, they consider eachother their confidant and fell in love with the same girl.
Both the female leads are into an art field.
One male lead dies and his best friend/brother thinks that reason behind it is the female lead. There are continuous misunderstanding which parts them from each other.

Both are school/youth dramas with a slight melancholy/wistful tone. Both FLs have a crush on someone they do not end up with whose ending is tragic (unrequited love vs. death). The characters mature and grow up a lot over the course of the plots. Both of the main couples have the same dynamic - FL accidentally injuries ML who sort of annoys her and then they gradually become good friends. The confession scene is the ending of both dramas.
I think this drama is very different from others with the same genre. It takes unexpected twists and turns.

The lead actor in mountains and oceans is also in my girl... he's the reason why I watched oceans and mountains. I first watched my girl and then I just fell for him and he's handsomeness and he's charismatic features so I decided to watch mountains and oceans and I have no regret as I did not feel like I wasted my time... watch i. Fan Zhi Xin is lite.
