This is by far the BEST scammer ~ con-artist drama I've ever seen! Gorgeous men and angsty and a touch of dark humor, and Sugino Yosuke looks like the kind of guy who you just want to take care of and protect. So watching him do the scams is both fun and makes you anxious lol because living vicariously through his character is a given because SCAMS is so realistic when it comes to the nature of crime and especially scams, you'll find yourself in the same place as him because what happened to him has happened to us all at some point. I've seen scam fiction a lot and most of it gets super preachy, and even when it's full of action like Squad 38 the writing fails in many ways because it just feels like someone is giving you an hour long lecture on 'crime is bad' even the recent Dying Eye failed for me in that aspect. And why I prefer Aku No Hado and Scams instead. They're way more mature. Anyway if you like con artist fiction do watch this though it can get pretty dark. And I have to mention - I am crushing on Otani Ryohei BIG TIME. XD Can you say Call Me Daddy one more time lol sorry i m awful I know ^_^

SOMETHING NEW

SCAMS is a fresh take on the scamming dimensions,
portraying how one enters into this field, what happens usually and what the culmination is at the end.
The drama's first half is aesthetic to watch, crisp and to the point.
Each episode features 20 mins of fine art.

The problem starts in the 2nd half, the plot gets too slow, characters and plot development die, they are mismatched by passing onto the side characters, and in the end, what we're left with is a pigsty with 1 too many episodes left.

The end is ironic but confusing and definitely forced.
It reminds me of the movie Parasite which goes through the same pattern in a way,
how everything that could go wrong will always do.

Overall, Scams is worth watching.
It had the best cinematography as far as J dramas are concerned.

PS: Special mentions to the acting cast, everybody did a phenomenal job, especially our MC and his boss.

Scams are bad lol

Scams is a show I have added to my list months ago on Netflix and I just randomly started watching it. All I have to say I really enjoyed it. The story is really cliche. The protagonist Makoto wants to make money becasue he needs it for his father's operation who is suffering from cancer. But with time he gets addicted to Scams. One thing I like is the scams are not a blast. They are rather small scale. It was something pretty new. The peeformances were great though I didn't really care for any of them except Makoto. The ending was not explained properly. Overall its a good show for trying something new but it could have been much better. You can finish this in one go as the show has only 9 episodes of 22 - 24 mins each

Can’t seem to be invested in the plot..

I feel that the subject matter depicted in this drama is quite ahead of its time as I don’t remember seeing a lot of shows that depict the scam industry. But it is super relevant now in 2024, where scams are such a big issue in Asia and there are many movies that portray the matter. However, I wasn’t as invested to the storyline as I wanted to be. Maybe because I feel sad for those that being scammed while it kind of glorifies the industry? Or there weren’t enough peaks in the drama? But the acting is great just not the music. I feel that it could do better but it seems like a trend for Japanese drama.
