A Good Attempt.
I had seen Psychopath Diary trending in 2019 while it was airing, but never got around to actually watching it until this year. In addition, the fairly comical poster and a confusing synopsis threw me off track.Yook Dong Shik, a business analyst who is constantly looked down upon for being overly nice and a "pushover", teeters on the edge of his life after he is fired from his job due to the error of his co-worker. His suicide attempt ends ---because he was too scared--- and instead he gets a first hand encounter with a live murder. Attempting to flee the scene after snatching a piece of evidence, he is struck by a police car and soon loses his memories. A diary that had been found at the scene is returned to him by Officer Shim Bo Kyung, who is guilty of having caused his accident.
Unfortunately, the diary, which Dong Shik relies on to remember his past has secret: it is the 'evidence' he had retrieved from the crime scene.
Yook Dong Shik and Seo In Woo are undoubtably the stars of the show. Dong Shik (Yoon Shi Yoon) in particular was stunningly portrayed with the apt amount of comedy, madness and intensity. Several scenes of his, even the serious ones where tinged with a pinch of humour, but I was able to understand how hurt and pitifull he felt. Worse, it was absolutely hilarious when some of the missing pieces of the diary coincidentally convince Dong Shik that he was the real serial killer. But, I adored the guts and character growth that In Woo unintentionally planted in him. By the end of the drama, I was pretty proud of Dong Shik.
Seo In Woo... well, I'll choose that guy over Edward Cullen any day.
Officer Shim Bo Kyung was personally, one character whose sole purpose seemed to be to complicate incidents. She started off with a strong background, but resorts back to a regular female lead who doesn't use her instincts much, particularly during the latter half of the drama.
Jang Si Chul and Dong Shik's bromance was beyond adorable. I loved every scene of theirs.
The drama is much longer than necessary, although it's highly entertaining. I'll suggest this for anyone looking for a quick palate cleanser with excellent and interesting characters.

The premise is a great elevator pitch but watching 16 hours of this is not worth it.
I really enjoyed the show in the beginning as our MC adapts to the awkwardness of being a psychopath. The performances are all good and the music is solid, but once the main villain sees through the facade this show becomes a drag. The ml takes forever to get smart and go up against the real killer. This would have been better as a 12 episode show. Ep 8-12 are really hard to get through with all the redundant story beats. The FL was well written but why did they really had to make her dad’s case connect to the serial killer as well. So basic and boring The scenes at the mental hospital annoyed me and towards the end I was just hate watching it. This show isn’t for those in search of romance but the ml and fl have good chemistry and the end gives you a small hint that maybe their ship will sail. The guy who played the villain though was really good and it would have been fitting with the tone of the show if he was the main character instead. It would have been similar to the TV shows Dexter or You where the Mc is a serial killer and it would have been a better direction for the show. Was this review helpful to you?
Look no further for your next binge worthy kdrama!
I don’t see people talk about this kdrama nearly enough. I stumbled upon it after watching Yoon Shiyoon in Hit the Top (another very cute drama) and I’m so glad I did! I was hooked from the first episode. I mean, a normal guy mistakenly thinks he’s a serial killer after getting in an accident that causes him to lose his memory? What a ride!Psychopath Diary is both funny and exciting in equal measure. All of the actors are amazing (this is actually the show that introduced me to Park Sunghoon before his role in The Glory) and Yoon Shiyoon remains one of my favorite comedic actors. I couldn’t stop smiling while watching this show and I bet you won’t either!

This is the best comedy thriller drama!
Okay, I went to this show with little expectations, but I wanted to see it for the cast. And I did not regret! I got hooked from the first episode only, and the cast does an AWESOME job. The story is well written out and has a good amount of suspense. I loved how they quickly revealed who the killer was, so we could enjoy the comedy moments between the fake and real psycho when they didn't know who they were! The OST was also pretty good and matched the drama. I also got some good comebacks out of this drama lol.Was this review helpful to you?

Great, but I think a different direction could have made it perfect.
Psychopath Diary is a great drama that successfully manages to blend thriller, drama and comedy together, which is something more difficult to do than it seems! The story was complex, but everything made sense and was interesting throughout. The cast was sublime and acting from each and every cast member was at least on the 'great' standard. The OST? Addictive and full of amazing tunes that I will definitely be listening to in my spare time! The re-watch value is higher than I expected, to be honest. I think I decided to rate it higher than what I usually do because I absolutely loved the bonds that the different characters made, alongside the wackiness of the story from start to finish. So, you are probably wandering why I rated this a drama a 9 out of 10 instead of a 10 out of 10, right? Well, here's when I have to dive into a little bit of a spoiler-filled reason, so if you don't want to be spoiled, just watch this drama anyway because I recommend it no matter what!
The two negatives that made me rate this lower than what I wanted: the 'stupid' or 'illogical' police or police procedures. Normally I don't notice these sorts of things, or if I do, it is usually months after watching said drama. However, for me anyways, it stuck out like a sore thumb. The other thing isn't a negative per say but it's a slight twist of the story that I thought was going to happen, but didn't. I was expecting when Seo In Woo saw that Yook Dong Shik had one of his diaries, he would actually think that diary was not his, but it belonged to Yook Dong Shik, therefore thinking that he had found his 'murdering soulmate' i.e. someone exactly like him. I was then expecting a villainous bromance to evolve from this where they help each other murder etc. and that it would eventually stop with the help of FL and romance. I know this idea sounds a little loose, and it's hard to describe exactly what it is, but hopefully you understand! (I don't usually like thriller and romance mixed in, but I would've liked a romantic hint in the last episode).
Anyways, I totally recommend Psychopath Diary! A definite 'must watch'!

Surprised me in a good way
When I first stumbled across this drama on social media let's just say I was immediately captivated by the plot and synopsis of it. I thought it was a very abstract and fresh idea for thrillers and that it could potentially be addictive if executed well. As I think we all experience from dramas I did however have my worries as I wasn't sure how they might end such a drama nor how well the cast and writers would tackle such an out there plot idea. When I did however dive into the drama I was pleasantly surprised by the charisma and humour of the cast especially one of the main leads Yook Dong Sik played by the very talented Yoon Shi Yoon. I think the comedy aspect of this drama is more than you might initially expect however do not be afraid as it is something that ended up causing me to binge watch the drama in only a matter of days. It's brilliantly thought through and not overused but definitely a major part of the characters and storyline all the while not overshadowing the initial heavy plot structure.STORY- The idea of someone stumbling across a psychopath murdering someone and then picking up their diary, getting amnesia and then starting to think they were the killer is shall we say interesting to say the least... Well okay it's slightly insane but it's incredibly intriguing nonetheless. Without giving too much away I suppose one of the best things I could say is not to be worried about the execution or whether the story holds up to the very promising synopsis. The story is exactly as promised and some might argue (me lol) even better when you actually watch it. One of my worries as previously mentioned was the ending but I loved the ending they added to this drama and it was very satisfying in my opinion after watching it for so long.
Acting- Now the cast chosen for this drama was in my opinion close to perfection with only a couple of exceptions. As much as I love this drama I don't want to lie and I think it's important I tell the truth so a couple of the side characters in my opinion left a little to be desired in their roles which was frustrating as I didn't want the beauty of the drama to be ruined by this however I was glad that most of the side characters were played well. I don't want to name names as I think just watching for yourself without premeditated disappointment will help you get the most out of it. If you see any faults with any of the side characters then perhaps you may relate to me but if not then don't worry and enjoy it. I haven't talked much about the main cast but there isn't much to say as in my eyes they were perfectly selected and did a very good job portraying not only just their characters but also the emotions fueling the characters and their stories. Bravo indeed.
Music- In a lot of thrillers the music is normally most important in climatic scenes and also typically at the end of an episode when a big event happens and they want to entice you to watch the next episode straightaway. As this is also used in this drama they also do something incredibly innovative related to Yook Dong Sik. His music is a massive part of his interests as a person and identity as a character. Music helps portray what emotions he's feeling when his as I like to call 'Psychopath Mood' is switched on. He becomes a different person and this is immaculately reflected in whatever music he chooses to switch on in his brain and for us as the OST. It was an awesome detail and hats off to whoever thought of that behind the scenes.
I think I'll wrap up my review here and if you read the whole thing I hope it is helpful in your decision about when you will watch Psychopath Diary (as I think you should totally give it a go). If it was helpful then I'm glad as I enjoyed writing about but above all else I enjoyed watching the show and so hopefully will you too :)

easily one of my all time favourites
Out of all the dramas I've ever watched, this is easily one of the best. The plotline is very smart and very well-done, it keeps you on your toes the entire time, even when you think you know what is about to happen next. Great and very lovable characters, we see the female lead being strong and independent without working as a love interest for the male lead. It's funny and refreshing but also very serious at times, making it perfectly balanced. The plot moves slowly, so it is easy to follow without getting lost, but without getting tiring and boring. Was this review helpful to you?
Dong Shik and Bo Kyung has a chemistry and fit in so well, they don't even awkward with acting together, this drama already interesting from episode 1, such a worth watching kdrama, it's also teach us to not believe in someone even they're close to us

You will watch Yook Dong Shik convince himself to be the owner of the diary and that he is a psychopathic killer. Seeing his internal turmoil and desire to live up to the image of his exact opposite (from pushover to predator) was a blast. While some of his psychopath shenanigans were very cringe inducing, I found myself enjoying the cringe.
The show just seems to introduce more and more misunderstandings and they are slowly resolved as you advance the story. You will laugh and you will cry. Highly recommended to watch.

One of the best k-dramas
Psychopath's Diary is humorous and at the same time, suspenseful along with the best performances. I saw a short clip of this drama a few months ago and I knew it, this is what exactly I'm finding in a drama. And here are the things I enjoyed the most.1. Yook Dong-shik ( His emotions were on point, I feel what the character felt. Even though this is the first drama I've watched from Yoon Shi Yoon, he has become my fav actor now )
2. Unnecessary Dramatic background music ( I love it every time, that one whistle music played, it was hilarious and matched perfectly with the plot )
3. The Side Characters ( Every single actors done a great job, especially Park Sunghoon. His acting was amazing that I wanted to slapped him )
Overall this is a 10/10 for me, I loved, LOVED it! And gonna be exploring more Dark-Comedy genre. ( Ngl, ML is a little too dumb at some point, but that's what makes the drama alive )
