Season 2 is as good as Season 1
I've read some of the reviews and I was quite shocked that some of them gave this drama a terrible review/rate when in fact it was a great drama. First, I was a fan of Romantic Doctor that I've watch that first season a lot, and I think watching it again before starting this second season was not a bad move since the charm of medical drama is still there, as well as,the tension, and the romance. I was still amazed on the cases that they've brought every week and how Dr. Kim (along with Dr. Woo Jin and Dr. Eun Jae with the help of Doldam staff) overcome them. It was also good that they still mention the characters of Dr. Kang Dong Joo and Dr. Yoon Seo Jung in some scenes and even have Dr. Do In Bum a cameo that really hype up those last episodes.Second, I also want to praise the new characters for giving a new spice in the drama as they introduce their stories and backgrounds to the viewers. Lastly, I also want to compliment the OST as it gives life to the scenes that makes it more interesting and exciting to watch.
Overall, it is true that it is somehow different to the first season that some of us said that it already lost it charm when they started a new season with different leads. But for me, I think this drama has a different charisma that it captivates the viewers to watch it weekly which is obviously true as it passes a 20 percent viewership rating on its first airing and it breaks it record as a new episode comes. Still, I can say that when it comes to medical-romance drama, "Romantic Doctor" series will be on the number one of my list.

1 - The Villains - The writer simply didn't know what to do with them. Old characters come back and they don't seem to have learned anything (good or bad) from their experiences from 3 years ago. They're evil just for the sake of being evil. The best villains are the ones that even though you don't agree with them, you understand why they take on such actions, and that doesn't happen here. You spent all the time wondering "Why is this person still doing this? And why is this new person doing this?". Do you know the rule of film, "don't tell me, show me"? Yeah, in this season they neither show you or tell you. The actual medical practice also suffered a lot from this. I didn't count but it was clear that they had a lot more scenes in the OR in the first season than in the second. Sometimes it looked like I was watching a political drama and not a medical one.
2 - Editing - While I agree that both new leads had little to do in terms of development, I blame it mostly on editing. Some characters had huge problems and traumas from childhood shown in the first episodes, and then nothing really happened for the most part just so at the end solutions were brought like they were ready to go all the time. Really huge decisions had little to no impact on the next scene, sometimes even with the same characters (!!!!). The romance also was affected by this. The use of flashback didn't work for most of the scenes between the main leads, and for the most part, the best scenes between them were done when (surprise, surprise) the medical drama was actually being a medical drama. Season 1 was about growth in both professional and personal lives, this one lacks a lot of both, mainly because how OP the male lead is and how the editing treated the female lead as a weak character when that was not the case at all.
3 - Drama, Drama, Drama - I was skeptical when the first case of the Hospital was that big of a deal at the start of the series because you know, " since this is season 2, you need to make everything bigger, am I right?" (/s). Whenever the writer didn't know what to do with a certain character, they would just throw some more drama into the story, which was funny because people in the discussions thread were always so tense about what was going to happen next when nothing really was happening. It was just lazy drama so actors could yell at each other and make us feel like the tension was through the roof.
I'm pretty sure a lot of people who didn't watch this first one are going to find my score strange, that I might be a hater or something, but hear me out.
I highly recommend those of you who didn't watch the first season to do so and then compare it to this one, especially the story. Try to notice how well the story develops while characters grow and learn from their mistakes. After that go back to this review and try to remember how much the leads of this season developed. I just hope they don't make a third season because it would be a shame to hear that they're going to keep doing drama for the sake of drama in this amazing series.
The OST is cool though.

As the season 2 started I also started the season 1 last month since I haven't watched it. I was amazed on the first season and as well as the 2nd season I cant compare which season is better because both are great medical dramas. I was rooting for Dr. Yun and Mr. Park because they are just the cutest couple. I am also glad to see Dr. Do In Boem from the character in season 1 he made a special appearance. And love the ending of the story of Dr. Cha and Dr. Seo. And of course my favorite character ever is KIM SABU!! And hoping for season 3 ?.

I'm perhaps one of the biggest fans of the first season of Romantic Doctor, Teacher Kim and this drama means the world to me. Well, despite this fact, I wasn't excited about the second season mainly because of the change of the cast. The same story but with some different faces? What's the point? That's what I thought but I just had to watch it, I felt like I had to. And as you can already guess by my rating, I didn't enjoy this season as much as the first one. I did like the first few episode though and by the first few episodes I mean the first 5-6. The story was progressing well, it had the potential to become better, the characters had the potential to develop a lot. The drama overall had potential to be as good as the first season (or at least close to being as good). But unfortunately, I believe it didn't live up to its potential.
My first problem with this season is the pacing and the editing. A whole lot of mess. There were a lot of things happening, they were jumping from scene to scene, they touched here and there and what was the result? Pretty much nothing. As if it had no main plot. I HATED how we had a very emotional and touching scene but then they decide to randomly jump to another scene and I'm left like ''Hellooo I was tryna shed some tears here, what did ya do??!'' And the editing was very bad. Sometimes it was even confusing and distracting.
My second problem is how poorly developed the characters and their stories were. Let's take our beautiful female lead Cha Eun Jae for an example; she had quite a hard time because she gots nauseous every time she tried to perform surgery. She literally fell asleep during a surgery. THAT was a big problem. She also had family problems. She was just not living her best life lol. I believe her situation should have been explained better. Her problems were resolved so quickly that I questioned myself ''Okay, then what was all this drama about?'' Anyways, I liked or at least didn't mind her as a character since she was really cool from time to time. Well, she was not the best doctor at the beginning, but I accepted her somehow. :D Seo Woo Jin -- the male lead, was kinda intriguing at the beginning of the drama but as the story progressed, he became quite boring. He was still cute and some scenes with him were amazing, but yeah. (I don't want to be that person, but he is nothing to the male lead in the first season and yes I'm very biased ;p)
Which leads me to the character for whom I expected to develop the most and he did --- in the last few minutes of the last episode!! Yes, I'm talking about Park Min Gook who somehow became my favourite character even though I heavily disliked him at the beginning. Why is he my favourite character is a mystery even to me. But I was so excited about his scenes, him making the same mistakes all over again and then regretting his life choices and crying was such a funny thing to watch! It was also relatable af! :D Jokes aside, he was the most interesting character for sure but his development was so deadly slow that made me lose interest.
I don't know what my dear screenwriter was thinking to make Do Yoon Wan the villian again. That was the most stupid decision she could make. We had enough of Director Do in the first season, why bring him back? So I guess if we have a 3rd season, Director Do will be 100 years old and he's still gonna be the villian? Why not. Very uncreative.
The romance was weak, let's be honest here. Or at least I didn't feel any chemistry between the leads? It's just seemed like a forced romance to me. That ''reset'' thingy will haunt me forever. Cha Eun Jae and Woo Jin could have been just good chingus and it would have been okay. I don't know, I guess the writer thought that some of the viewers might need romance so let's just give it to them, why not. Let's feed them with some cheesy sh*t. BUT the last kiss was hot, not gonna lie.
After saying so many negative things, it's time to be a bit positive because even though the drama was very messy, I still enjoyed some of that mess. I loved Master Kim -- he was strong and amazing as always! His scenes with Park Min Gook were LIFE! The writer could have made a good bromance between them, because their interactions in the last episode were sooooo good! The second couple was also very adorable and I really wish they had more scenes! Overall, the supporting characters were very good. I just feel like Doctor Bae was some kind of ghost - he was there but at the same time it felt as if he had no reason to be there. It's not that I don't like him, he was just strange lol. The acting was also very good, especially kudos to Han Seok Kyu - he was born to play Master Kim and he proved that once again!
Well, the atmosphere in Doldam Hospital was amazing as always. I loved the team work, I loved the lights (not the dark operating room tho lol), I loved the interactions between the characters, I loved the Fridays, I loved the surgeries, I loved Mister Goo <3 I love everything about this hospital and this will never change, no matter what. Some dialogues were written very well and there were a lot of touching moments. Which is why, even though I didn't like a lot of things, I'm not giving a lower rating.
Overall, RDTK2 is not the worst drama out there and if you are into medical dramas you can check it out. However, be sure to watch the first season first, not because it's neccessary, but because it's way better and it's worth seeing.

This drama produced something on me that not many dramas do: an incredible satisfaction that the drama ended. Not because of how nice it made me feel, or how fulfilled it left me, but because I was glad I finally didn't have to keep watching it. I'm a big fan of RDTK1, I loved every single bit of that show and I had no complaints about it. Every character was perfectly developed, the story fit all on its own. Which they completely failed to do here.As I mentioned previously while commenting on this show, I had to pause episodes multiple times because I was bored and wanted to do something else. Almost all the time after Eps 7-8 I watched this show while doing something else, either playing some game, scrolling on Twitter or simply busying myself while watching it. I'm the type of viewer who focuses her entire attention on whatever she's watching, so to say that I was calmly doing something else while these episodes were rolling is very telling about how this season made me feel. I even skipped a lot of filler scenes which either were not important to the main plot (whatever it was), or would be explained somehow as the drama developed more. I say 'filler scenes', but a lot of them were probably considered important, like parts with Chairman Do and stuff like that.
Even though I was this bored watching this season, I didn't want to drop it at all. I had anticipated this season a lot and it was my first choice to watch as soon as I got some free time. I started Ep 1 quite lost because I had watched S1 only once when it was airing, so I decided to rewatch it to have a fresh memory. I finished it in 2 days pulling all-nighters. I finished writing my review when the sun was rising. That's how invested and involved I was with that season and I wanted to be that emotionally involved with it so that my feelings and memories were fresh to watch this one, but this season didn't compensate that.
I wasn't even considering writing a long review about this drama and I don't feel like getting into details of every thing that I disliked about this season (which were a lot), so I'll just go over a few points quickly.
1. This season was so unnecessarily dramatic for no reason at all. It had more politics than medical stuff, the characters were so problematic without adding much to the plot, Chairman Do was unbearable and he lacked all sense of evil. He simply hated Master Kim because of their past drama and came back with the sole purpose of ruining him and closing Doldam Hospital. At some point I even thought to myself that all the villains were evil to good doctors with no reason at all. Dr. Song coming back as an *ss-licker was incredibly annoying, as I thought he had settled up something from season 1 (since he never left the hospital anyway) and the first episode made it look like that, but he was still a puppet with no reason to live on his own. And S2's version of Dr. Song was Dr. Yang. If Chairman Do didn't exist, he would be the character I hated the most. He was obnoxiously mean to Woo Jin and Eun Jae for no reason at all, he learnt nothing throughout the entire drama and the only important scene he had was when Eun Jae hit him and exploded at him. That was incredibly satisfying.
2. Even though Master Kim is a very likeable character, I didn't agree with some of his decisions and attitudes in this season. Just like Eun Tak said, he never thought Master Kim was wrong up until the moment President Yeo was resuscitated, although that's not what I'm basing this on. He's too self-righteous and incredibly arrogant that you start understanding why other people would find him unbearable. I feel like I'd be a villain in this universe, or someone like Park Min Goo who can't stand him and feels threatened by him, but who eventually (and unreasonably) shifts to his side. One of the scenes that annoyed me the most was when the guy with the accidentally amputated leg didn't want to get surgery because of the expenses. He was considering his family, his life quality which was already damaged with or without the surgery; he knew he couldn't afford the surgery and would be hard for his family. But all Master Kim did was yell at him in front of his wife and son about how coward and weak he was because he put money before his leg. Like, hello! Some people are poor here? Maybe because I've had many economical struggles, but I couldn't avoid getting annoyed at this part. There were other things like this that slightly annoyed me with his self-advocated perfection, but I can't remember everything. With that being said, I don't hate him at all, lol.
3. The romance was absolutely underwhelming. Even though the amount of romance that we got with Kang Dong Joo and Yoon Seo Jung were not enough (for me) and their romance was far from being the center of the show, Seo Woo Jin and Cha Eun Jae couldn't fill their shoes at all. Their romance always felt more like a crush from Woo Jin than anything else. We didn't even have the typical realization from the FL that she likes the ML too. When she was supposed to leave to Geodae H., she naturally talked with Dr. Yun about her frustration because Woo Jin didn't look for he as if it was showed before, as if they had ever talked about it (or hinted they did) at all. We as viewers knew they liked each other more because the drama has a romance tag than anything else, but beyond unfounded suspicions, the doctors and nurses couldn't really tell if it was real or not. Yet, Dr. Yun advises Eun Jae to confess her feelings first and Eun Jae doesn't even give it a second thought? Like when did she even start liking him? The writers could've done all this so much better, but I'll give them a pass because the kiss scene in Ep 16 was really nice and the hug before Eun Jae left was lovely.
4. The character development in S1 is the thing that caught the most my attention, to the point I found myself several times saying out loud, "character development!!!" when Kang Dong Joo or Yoon Seo Jung did admirable things. That, however, was nowhere to be found here. I was looking forward to Eun Jae's character being explored more, there was so much to work with but poor writing made her look like a dramatic b*tch with a rich family. She had the pressure of a family of successful doctors when she didn't even want to be a doctor herself, so she suffered from constant anxiety. They never explained when she started to be nauseous, to begin with. Of course, they showed the morgue scene A LOT to emphasize that's when it all began, but how could she be a surgeon in her second year if she had this trouble all the time? Logically, she either got worse with time, or always had it to the same level, which is impossible in reality because how else would she have performed surgeries all those years? Whatever the case was, it was incredibly disrespectful that they cured her with a placebo and gave zero attention to the fact that she was in desperate need of mental therapy. Surely you can cure many things about yourself if you set your mind on it, but disregarding the need of a psychologist in nothing but a medical drama is ridiculous. I found myself disliking her character so many times because of poor writing and editing, even though I knew she was a strong and goal-driven FL with a lot of potential. But of course they ruined her.
On another note, I feel like Woo Jin was written much more in detail even though his family drama was unnecessarily complicated when they mixed it with Dr. Bae's family. Nonetheless, I think Woo Jin wasn't done as dirty as Eun Jae and they made him overcome all his insecurities about his family and his place in the world, he learned many lessons and the only time I had this "character development!!!" thought was at almost the end of Ep 16 when he asked for Park Min Goo's help; another character that was done dirty because of lazy writing, as he was a consistent villain with a reason! But they "cured" his evilness in less than 30 minutes. At one moment he was evil, then he cried, then he left, then he became good. All in the same episode, in a matter of minutes. Seriously?
5. The entire plot was pointless. We didn't have much to look forward to, the cliffhangers were boring and confusing. You could drop this drama at any time and it wouldn't really matter because there were little things to anticipate in every episode. They added way too many things, TOO many things everywhere to make it more dense and interesting but they failed to deliver a consistent story like S1. At some point even some characters were too dramatic compared to their selves in S1, like Nurse Oh was going around doing unnecessary dramatic things in the middle of the drama, whining all the time at Master Kim without doing anything important. Manager Jang was given apparently relevant tasks but the only good thing he ever did was to get the list of the doctors and that was it, the rest was him making drama with Nurse Oh. Dr. Jung wasn't given any attention despite him being apart from his family for 3 whole years and was even subtly judged by Master Kim when he was considering going back to Seoul. Again, an egoistic side of Master Kim that is not regarded enough.
Lastly, I must say the only things that kept me going through this drama were Seo Woo Jin, Eun Tak & Ah Reum and the long anticipated cameo of Yang Se Jong. I loved to see Do In Beom smiley, happy with his life, comfortable in Doldam Hospital and helping Master Kim. I loved that welcoming hug, the way Master Kim looked at him like a little boy who grew up was so endearing. I loved the dynamic he had with Woo Jin, when he was testing his skills, when he let Woo Jin do the laparoscopy surgery. That was character development at its finest, but I can't count it here because it involves S1, lol. I completely loved the short screentime he had about his relationship with Ah Reum! It was so nice to see him talk loosely and familiarly with someone for the very first time. Definitely one of the highlights of the drama, and one of the few, lol.
The fact that they kept mentioning Kang Dong Joo and Yoon Seo Jung coming back, and also In Beom saying himself that he would be back probably (and most likely) hints for a S3, but I'm not sure if it will work out at all. Doing a special with the mains from S1 and S2 would be enough to wrap up this story before they end up ruining it.
Anyway, to quickly finish this unexpectedly long review, I won't give it less than 7.0 because despite all this, it had its good moments and I enjoyed some parts but overall it would never be as good as S1 and that's all there is to it.

I haven't seen the first season of Romantic Dr. Teacher Kim so I came in watching this with no expectations. While there are some good moments, I have a lot of issues with this drama. 1. The last episode is so messy. Why are the writers still introducing many issues, making it seem like there was going to be a few more episodes, when clearly it was the final episode. That doesn't make sense. Also, kind of a weird way to end with the villain still on screen. Usually, the battle with the villain would happen at beginning of the last episode, not the tail end. Bad placement in my opinion.
2. Dr. Park should've had character development at Ep 10 once he confessed to Dr. Kim about his past guilt trip. He should've went from a guy who wanted to see Dr. Kim lose everything to a guy who forgave himself and began to change his ways, become a doctor that he should be, and work together with Dr. Kim to defeat the evil chairman and save the hospital. But instead, the writers were lame and kept him still against Dr. Kim, until the last 2 episodes. For what good reason? Nothing. Didn't make sense at all.
3. The lacked of and forced romance. Why even bother showing romance when about 90% of the drama doesn't even focus on it? I did like Woo Jin and Eun Jae together but this drama doesn't do justice on showing their developing relationship. It seemed more like friends than a boyfriend & girlfriend relationship. I couldn't see the chemistry. The secondary couple Ah Reum and Eun Tak, I don't know, it just wasn't convincing to me that they had chemistry and the lack of scenes showing them they really like each other weren't there either. A kiss in the last episode for both couples, while I did like seeing it, doesn't make this a romantic drama at all.
4. The character of Eun Jae was shafted considering she's suppose to be main lead. Her story was pretty much ignored in detail, including gets nauseous during surgery and her family issues. But how was it solved (if it was solved?). She took pills to prevent being nauseous but was there a backstory on why she was like this? If there was, it's not very clear in the drama. Did she continue to take the pills?
5. Why even bother tell heartbreaking stories of their patients that the writers leave unsolved? I know they're not the main plot but still, it would be better if there were closure to the side stories. Example: the ill son who's mom was abused by his dad.
Good parts of this drama
* Dr. Kim is the best character in this drama. He makes this drama watchable with his smart comments
* The support of the Doldham hospital staff. Everyone has each other backs, especially my favorite Mr. Goo.
* OSTs are always on point.
* The tributes they paid to the paramedic worker and to the previous president of Doldham hospital. These scenes were so emotional for me.
* Realistic medical scenes
Overall, it's just okay drama for me. I wasn't too fond of how the writers handled a lot of situations, plot was too messy especially the end, and how they wanted to show romance but was a far cry from it. Either show a good amount of it or don't even bother with it. But, it's up to you if you want to watch it or not. It's a great cast nonetheless.

Romance in the drama is sidelined with a lot of story progression which caused it to be slow but considering a medical drama we get enough to fill our belly. Ahn Hyo Seop(Seo Woo Jin) and Lee Sung Kyung (Cha Eun Jae) did a good job portraying their parts but what sets the drama aside from others is extra time support characters get which is rare in Korean dramas, And I have to admit, they nailed it. Drama is certainly well balanced based on screen timings and supporting actors did an awesome job of bringing living air to the drama. The setting does call for the third season where we hope to see dream combo of characters of both seasons.
It does seem like Chairman Do Yoon Wan as a one-dimensional character (like dude get some life). Well, we can't do much about villains. What excited me was the characters Dr. Park Min Guk and Dr. Shim Hye Jin which bring tension around the plot with their own intentions and fears or scars. The romance between Kim Min Jae (Park Eun Tak) and So Joo Yeon (Yoon Ah Reum) was a breath of fresh air. Many were waiting for Kim Min Jae's role and he fulfilled fans' wishes and fantasies(well a nurse could not be more handsome). So Joo Yeon did a great job lifting moods throughout the series.
+Yang Se Jung (Dr, Do in Bum) made a guest appearance (I am sorry I could not hold myself) He created so much nostalgia about first season that I was tempted into watching it again.
Music - Every time I hear 'Go away Go away' by Chanyeol and Punch, I get emotional but hyped as well. OST's of the drama are well suited with the serene scenes added by the crew. Every OST is owned by the drama.
Cinematography - Crew did an awesome job of editing and scenes. It shows throughout the drama. The cinematography was different than the first season which included many slow-motion shots (The feels!!). There were some who seemed unsatisfied by editing but according to me editing is well above average and handled nicely.

I was a huge fan of the first series, and not just because Seo Hyun Jin was in it, honestly. What you get with the second series is something that you can relate to very nicely with the first series and yet it doesn't feel at all like it's just rehashing the same ideas. Many of the key cast at Doldam Hospital are the same, some are new and bring their own baggage and problems.
The opening scenes for me were one of expectation, once again they start the story in the main hospital and you have someone we all know skulking away in the background in his raincoat figuring things out before anyone else can and all i'm thinking is - hurry up and let's get to Doldam! When the scene finally cuts and we're at Doldam Hospital they do a great job of re-introducing you to an old friend (I mean the hospital itself). The blinking "dam" light is still there on the front, most of the team are still there including the formidable head nurse (one of my all time favourite characters and a fantastic actress) but there are new additions that arrive to bulk up the team and get it back to proper staffing levels again.
Fridays remain Fridays, with the never ending torrent of accidents coming in and the new staff being utterly bewildered by how busy this so-called backwater country hospital is. We're watching this enjoying them being floored by the whole thing because - we all know what Fridays are like, we're old hands at Doldam. It's a different experience to the first time where you are sharing the wonder and awe with the newcomers, this time you're like the head nurse smiling and shaking your head and hoping they'll make it.
There are some interesting story lines including something that culminates in an eye leakage in the final episodes, I won't say what, but it was powerful and well handled. Master Kim also has his own problems to deal with, hinted at towards the end of the last series.
The two main new surgeons have major baggage, she can't stomach being in the operating theatre and usually faints and the he has loan sharks chasing him and a massive chip on his shoulder.
Eun-Jae starts out as a weak character, but Master Kim shows her that she's not weak at all and just needs to believe in herself, it's handled brilliantly and was so good to watch her develop into a fearless strong woman who goes after what she wants, no longer told what to do or running away.
Woo-Jin wants to lash out at the world, but he learns what it means to be a Doctor and a great person.
Fans of series 1 ought to thoroughly enjoy this and relish the idea of returning to this wonderful hospital and the team that work there. If you haven't seen Season 1 you don't need to in order to enjoy it but why would you deny yourself the pleasure of watching the first season and then coming back for more? Do it now!

The medical cases of the first part were interesting and there were some others that were emotional and touching, but that's about it. The rest of them were few and unfinished. The only character that was interesting, in addition, was Doctor Kim, of course, and probably the second couple, which, however, didn't have any solid time to have character development, or get ot know them. The main characters however, felt watered down. There were some scenes, but very very few, that showed a bit about their past, but they never really explained things about them, like why the girl was getting nausea in the operating room, or some more details about Woo Jin's family. The two didn't have any chemistry and the few romantic scenes that they shared did not help them at all. The characters, overall, where boring and too typical. The political drama was just okay. There were however some nice notes to this drama. There was some character development for doctor Kim and we got to see a more human side of him. The nostalgia with the familiar settings and well known characters helped with the entartainment of the drama too.
Now, compared to the first season, this one was not as good. The political drama was boring as we already knew the "bad" guy and it was more like been there done that. The first season had more interesting characters whom we had time to get to know, which helped a lot with the romance. The characters had chemistry too, which this season was lacking. The medical cases were better too. Finally, there was more time to get familiar with the hospital and the crew.
So, overall, and taking season one out of consideration, six out of ten.

Romantic Doctor Teacher Kim Is a medical and life drama. I don’t quite recommend it to people who love romance. But overall it’s a good drama and if you are thinking about starting it then give the first season a try : ) If you are coming from the first season and wondering if you should watch the second well. I think first was a bit better. But still you can give this one a try too. I truly enjoyed first season, but I wasn’t expecting much from the second. I am always skeptical about any seconds in dramas or movies. But the first few episodes were not that bad. I was surprised that it wasn’t bad and they actually gave an explanation about what happened to the previous characters and I liked it.

Story was similar to the previous one. Same villain, same hate (I really don’t understand why people hate on Kim Sabu, but yeah same villain soo…). And many medical cases. Some were obviously made just to show off, some also were made just to trigger the characters. To be honest maybe this could have been done in a less obvious way, but I am no drama writer to judge that. So like a first season we get two young doctors with problems who come to Doldam hospital and under Kim Sabu’s perfect guidance grow wings. Like the female doctor Cha Eun Jae said “fish Koi can grow very big or small depending on the size of the aquarium” well this is just a simpler way of saying what Kim Sabu told before. And the size of aquarium doesn’t necessary mean that you have to work in a big hospital live in a big house and all the prestige and all. Sometimes it can mean the opposite. I enjoyed all the stuff Kim Sabu said during the drama. "The moment you give up, you start looking for excuses. The moment you think you can do it, you start looking for a way" this quote I really loved and even wrote it down, when watching the drama. Even the simple “Come out of that bus already” was truly deep and as a big lover or deep quotes I loved this drama just for that. It was an “ear candy” (if this a right way of saying it).
Sadly many character plotlines are not developed well. They just start very interestingly, then stay at the middle part for quite some time getting draggy, and then suddenly ending without opening up enough. That is the reason why I actually thought that this drama had more episodes and was taken by surprise when it ended. Also this is a Big SPOILER: (jump to characters or shorter review if you don’t want this spoiler) sadly they didn’t show and explain enough of Kim Sabu’s illness. They showed how his hand is healing and happy ending and all but the type of sclerosis he has is serious. I had to look it up because absolutely no one addressed the issue, maybe they thought all the viewers are medical specialists. It said that it’s very serious and doesn’t have a complete cure. But what we get in the drama? Do yoo hwan thinking of using it, throwing a big tantrum like a kid and then kim sabu saying him not making a ruckus out of nothing. Then they should have explained what exactly that illness is. On the other hand I don’t see a point of giving him such a serious illness story-wise if they are not planning to make some dramatic scenes with that. So that was a bit disappointing. Characters:
I think it won’t be an exaggeration to call this drama a character driven story. All the supporting character were amazing and Kim Sabu was the best of all. Kim Sabu or Master Kim was again being strong, cool, wise and romantic. His character maybe the biggest reason this drama is getting love by many. Because people like him are rare. And just like all the people who work at Doldam can’t leave that place after finding “peace” and “wings” beside Kim Sabu viewers get captivated by him and find it hard to his side and the Doldam Hospital too. He is the kind of adult whom everyone needs in this world filled with children of any age. Han Seok Kyu’s voice only adds to Kim Sabu’s character. I love the way he talks. So my rating is based mostly on him. Then there are secondary characters like other doctors and nurses. Head nurse Oh is amazing like always the way she call Mr Goo is precious and Mr Goo himself is this hospital’s gem. Bone doctor was a really interesting character I hope they showed more of him and developed his story more. Doctor Jung was also a nice character and I’m sad that he is choosing the hospital over his family no matter how special the hospital is. The nurses were great. And the secondary couple is also very cute. They had some unnecessary crack at the end, but it was resolved quickly. Yoon Ah Reum ssem was so nice. I loved the song she sang at the end by director’s bed. It reminded me of Sekai ni Hitotsu Dake no Hana by Smap. A song I really love. No matter how cheesy it is. It’s true. : ) The “bad” side was also very interesting. Dr. Park was a very interesting character. He was grey, but not in a sense of boring. Rather nor good nor bad. I was interesting in his development since the start and his bromance with Kim Sabu, but sadly I had to wait till the last episode for that. The doctors he brought with him were also interesting, especially the anesthesiology Dr. Shim. I was waiting for more development on her side.. The main villain being the same wasn’t that interesting though. We already knew him, and it was quite boring. Like Kim Sabu said his consistency is all that he acknowledges in him, but that consistency was too much so it got to the point of being ridiculous. Do in Bum’s return was really nice I loved seeing him and especially after the actor made is so big. It was a bit too much of showing off. Like several medical cases when he was there only just to show off his skills and make him talk with Seo Woo Jin.
I didn’t mention the main couple until now because just like in the first season I didn’t feel for them. The first season couple though was even worse for me. Maybe because at the time I was watching it I didn’t like both actors (I like them now though). This time I liked both actors but the characters again didn’t make me feel enough for them. They were both introduced very interestingly and I liked the development Cha Eun Jae got, whom I first thought to be crazy to still keep insisting on entering operation rooms, but still that development was not enough. Seo Woo Jin was an interesting character at first but we only had glimpses of his problem and nothing. He never said anything, no one actually said anything, we only know it from some newspaper but we didn’t even get an explanation about how Kim Sabu found that out. Romance was even weaker. I didn’t feel their love and their expressions were kinda forced. Though this might be my biased opinion so don’t let it stop you from watching the drama :)
Some of the OST was great here.
It had some weird editing of an episode ending at a certain scene, then the next episode being a past and then ending at the same scene like the previous episode. (maybe I’m a bit exaggerating, but it was a bit weird). Somehow several shows started to like this kind of editing. I saw this even in variety shows, and even the recent western Witcher was crazy with its pacing. I hope production people realize that this kind of pacing is a bit confusing and linear storytelling is not that boring as it may sound.
Overall the rating I give this drama is high mostly for Kim Sabu, all the great things he said and did and supporting characters. These all is just my style. On the other hand I am not a huge fun of romances so I was just going crazy for Kim Sabu.
