Such a refreshing show
If you love Extraordinary You, you will really enjoy this show. The show itself doesn't carry a heavy plot but rather somewhat mild plot as it deals with bullying issues and the consequences of it. The characters played by the actors were really executed well. AND YES, Cha Eun Woo's acting is not stiff as his past characters so I really enjoyed him playing this character. This drama touches a lot on friendship and family which may teach a lesson to viewers. As for the main plot of the FL's character dealing with looking 'ugly' bare face, the drama reveals at the end her courage to overcome these insecurities which I think is very important to the whole drama overall. ALSO I love the small cameos from the Extraordinary You cast. It was such a cute and nostalgic touch. Overall, the drama is worth watching if you are here for something on the lighter side in terms of the plot and if you are a sucker for a love triangle LOL. FURTHER, the OST is amazing!!

sweet cringe, but very touching
DNF November 2022The first couple of episodes were fine (despite being cringe), but I skipped so much in episodes 8 and 9 that I decided to not finish the drama because I felt like I was getting impatient and annoyed with the characters. It’s cute and deeper than I thought but not good enough to keep my attention (or dedication to continue watching).
FINISHED July 2023
For some reason the show just kept me thinking, so I finally decided to finish the last 7 episodes. I am happy that I decided to do so because there were a lot of fun and sad moments that touched my heart. At first, I wasn't the biggest fan of Seo Jun as I found him a little toxic but as the show went on, I could see his charms. My number one choice was always Su Ho though. To me, he and Joo Gyung just always fit perfectly. I hate the writer for ruining Soo Jin's character like that over a boy, I couldn't be mad at her; I was more frustrated with the script writers to be honest. The ending was super cute and fun, overall, the show is a sweet treat that can be a little cringy but is definitely a little deeper that you would think!

simple and cute drama that will only give you 2nd lead syndrome except you're a fan of Cha Eun Woo
Story:The story is very funny to watch except on the last 2 episode that gave me a heartache for the 2nd leading man. It is funny but also has a boring scene but I don't mind as long as I can see Hwang In Yeop in each episode. (I'm a fan of him)
What I dislike about the drama is they didn't focus on the essence of its title "True Beauty". It is more about the love triangle. I agree somehow to other viewers who said that they should change the title hehe.
But somehow it has a lesson for all viewers that the true beauty of a person is not on his/her outside appearance but on his/her inner person with the positive traits and qualities. The Bible proverb says: "Charm may be false, and beauty may be fleeting, But the woman who fears Jehovah (name of God) will be praised." (Proverbs:31:30 NWT) A pretty, charming young woman is a delightful companion. But what if there are hypocrisy and selfish vanity lurking behind the physical charm? (like Kang Soo Jin) Then the beauty is only skin deep, and it hides an inner ugliness. When the prettiness fades, what will be left? How much better if the good looks are matched by an unfading inner beauty. Value yourself and the standards you try to live by. If you are conscious of caring for both your outer beauty and your inner beauty, you will have great value and you will attract the type of person that will suit you best!
Acting/Casting:
I love the cast!
Moon Ga Yeong is so cute. For me it is a great role for her! She gave justice on her character as Im Ju Kyung. Indeed, Moon Ga Yeong is one of the good actress of Korea.
Cha Eun Woo - I like looking at his very handsome face hihi. But I hope he will improve more in his acting. But I think he is perfect for this role for showing that you shouldn't judge on outer appearance. There's no ugly and beauty faces all are beautiful.
Hwang In Yeop - He is such a good actor!!! I am glad that he is now a rising star!
About others everyone is so great especially Ju Kyung's family! For sure you will love them all!
Music:
I like the ost but not all of them is my type of music. If I will make suggestion, i will choose Fall In You by Ha Sung Woon and of course Starting Today by Hwang In Yeop.
I especially love all the songs sung by Hwang In Yeop in this drama especially his cover song of To You My Light.
Overall:
Well, this is drama is one of my top 20 of 2020 KDrama.

makes u root for the second lead
the story was cliché and a love triangle never really there. the story was really predictable and pretty boring but the comedy and characters such as hyeeyeong, juyoung, soo-ah and ofc seojun made it better but ngl if it weren't for them i'd have dropped it pretty early.the second lead, seojun is the best i've ever seen on screen and i liked him in the webtoon as well. hwang inyeop made a awesome job portraying him and made me fall in love with his character even more. (spoiler) the ending for him is alright but i wish f.e. in the stairwell scene i wish someone saw him and comforted him, such as his friends or family bc it was unbearable to see him suffer when he always did his best and was so caring and just a good friend for suho and jugyeong. i didn't ship jugyeong and seojun since seojun truly deserved someone better who appreciated him but everytime he had scenes with her, it makes you root for him. but it was really painful to watch.
all in all i wouldn't recommend this drama if you have a second lead syndrome or u like bad boys with a soft heart. i dont even have a second lead syndrome but seojun just hit different (good joob HIY! :)). but the message of this story with true beauty was okay but the romance reaaaally boring and (spoiler) imo u kinda didn't care about the main couple bc it's so clear and predictable that they'll will end up together.
BUT the actors did a great job, i loved the WHOLE cast sm and the emotions were *chef's kiss* man i wish i could see them all together again just in another story.

True Beauty is a sucessful cliche driven show that surprisingly pulls it off
I'll start off by saying: I didn't give a crap who she ended up with. I find a lot of people online pissed about whether she would end up with one person or not. I read a majority of the webtoon and I find this drama to be a superior version. Why? The drama succeeds in giving Juukyung some character development while the webtoon gives her none and is only stringing along a love triangle between the three because that's the only kind of appeal this kind of webtoon has: normal girl being sought after by two hot "perfect" boysStory (Drama):
This story is chock full of tropes. People will shit on it for being tropey. Personally, this isn't one of those dramas I would expect anything more from. It's based on a high school webtoon full of tropes - you're going to get a tropey drama. It may be generic but where it SHINES past other dramas of its genre is its humor and its ending.
Now, like I said, I didn't really care who she ended up with. I really cared about her character and how she would improve over time, which she did! I loved it. I think it's loads better than the webtoon. This drama is so funny, there were moments where I would have trouble breathing. The ending wraps it up better than any other drama with this kind of generic premise.
Characters:
Juukyung: Lovable, hate how they made her an idiot to Seojun's feelings but imig. I would have preferred her choosing to go to school without makeup on her own rather than her secret being revealed.
Suho: Cardboard, but definitely improved towards the end.
Seojun: Lovable bad boy who turns into a "nice guy" by the end of it. I felt bad for the dude but like you can't force someone to like you. I'm sorry fam but Juukyung never showed feelings for Seojun once and never led him on or anything of the sort.
Acting:
Moon Gayoung really stole the show for me. I thought I was going to fall in love with her with that roar scene. HOW COULD YOU NOT? She delivered acting out a character who in the webtoon was blander in comparison and was much more unlikable. Additionally, I could not stop laughing how they would be trying to make me think Moon Gayoung out of alll people would be "ugly" LMAO. She is one of the prettiest young actresses in kdrama-land right now. I guarantee if she wasn't Juukyung, the drama would be so much more ass.
Hwang In Yeop in addition was absolutely wonderful. Every time he looked at Moon Gayoung I thought my heart was going to burst. His delivery of a tropey bad boy character was so good and his nuance was fantastic.
Cha Eunwoo, in all honesty, pales in comparison to the other leads. Why? Well his character is kind of cardboard in comparison. But, I have to give credit where credit is due, in his crying scenes, he was pretty good. It kind of sucks that he keeps chosing roles like this but I guess he's making some crazy money right now. I hear he's actually a pretty good actor so I hope he chooses a role that is more dynamic next time.
Music:
I didn't really like the "How do you do song" meh. But the "Call me maybe" is GOD TIER SHIT.
Rewatch:
If I was bored and wanted to watch cute moments, I would 100% go back to True Beauty
You have to realize that for this kind of drama which is really generic to be able to be this strong is impressive. I attribute this to the actors and the PD/director for being able to string together humorous moments + improving the story where the webtoon didn't.
*Spoilers*
I have to say it here since I don't have any IRL friends who watch True Beauty. Honestly, neither Suho nor Seojun deserves Juukyung's love. Suho left and expected her to be all chummy with him? Uh no. And seojun? I don't care how long he had a crush on her. It was honestly getting on my nerves towards the end of the drama that he was being pushy with her and even more so that everyone on the internet was shitting on Juukyung for not reciprocating his feelings. I'm sorry to tell you this but no one deserves love. I don't care how long you simped after someone, if they don't like you back, I'm sorry fam that's your own problem. It really reeked of "I'm a nice guy I waited for years for you so you HAVE to date me" and I'm just not down for that kind of thing. And this is someone who was very sympathetic towards Seojun and even becaming team Seojun halfway through the show.
My perfect ending was if she would friendzoned both and worked on her makeup career, building up her confidence etc. But if that were to happen, the internet would have set on fire. Wars would have started. So, I am content with the ending, mostly because I didn't really care about anyone but Juukyung.

Pretty enjoyable
I didn't read the webtoon so I don't have anything to compare this to. Probably one of the reason why I enjoyed this as much as I did.Beyond all the cliches, I actually think the story is interesting. Someone who has inferiority complex tries to overcome her complex through make-up. While everyone was fighting over Suho or Seo Jun, I was really rooting for Ju Kyung's character development. If we compare the first episode to the last, it was Ju Kyung that has a lot of growth. I'm not too sold with the yet again another love triangle. I liked both the male leads' characters too. None of them is a jerk and are actually really good people. Whoever Ju Kyung ended up with would've been okay for me. I also think the slapstick comedy is fun and just the right amount.
Moon Ga Young has always been great with her roles. I can't imagine anyone playing Ju Kyung as well as her. I do think this is quite an easy role for her and didn't showcase so much of her acting capabilities. Cha Eun Woo's role as Suho is too much like his Gangnam Beauty role but I still appreciate that he showed more emotions here compared to his last two series I watched. Props to him for improving. The surprise for me here is Hwang In Yeop. He nailed his role perfectly. I haven't watched him in anything yet and I'm regretting that. I look forward to seeing him in more lead roles in the future.
Although not a masterpiece candidate but this is an easy and delightful watch.

It's a fun Drama
Firstly I'll start by appreciating every actors hard work they put for this drama . All the actors including supporting actors did a very great job in presenting their own characters. They have changed most scene of seojun and gave that for suho , which will make us sure from the beginning that jukyeong will end up with suho.
Even when suho went to States for looking his dad , I was sure he and jukyeong will end up together in the final episode because that's how all kdramas go . Seojun was a really nice character and thinking about him makes me sad but I'm happy that he finally got to debut just as how he wished .
Overall it's a nice drama with a lot of humourous scenes . And a lots of nice supporting characters . Thank you for reading~

This is the best show I have ever watched
This was amazing you are so connected to the characters and feel like you are a part of the series. When this drama finished I cried all night because I was so sad it was over. Will rewatch again and again! Will show this to my kids when they are older because there are so many lessons learned in this drama definitely the best thing I have ever watched. The story is perfect the characters were amazing and the music was beautiful there was never a scene where it didn’t make sense. Thank you to the creators for an amazing dramaWas this review helpful to you?
Attractive male leads
Its an amazing drama at least better than I expected it to be since I didn't like how they changed it from the webtoon. I'm not a fan of the webtoon but I be sympathize with the author. I dont she's happy to know that her story has been changed for more ratings however, it did got better.Pros:
1. The cast has amazing visuals
2. The story did improve from the webtoon
3. The love is in the air.
Cons:
1. You'll get your heart broken for the 2nd lead, again.
2. The story is a bit rushed but its understandable since its a drama not a webtoon.
3. I wanted more romance!!!
I hope In hyeop leads his own drama soon. I keep getting heart broken for him!!😢😢😢😢

Storyline was bit off but the actors carried it well !
Just finished this drama ... I have very mixed feelings for this one !! Here's whyThings I liked about this drama :
1) Both MLs had there own struggle stories
2) Almost every character was strong in this drama
3) Suho deserved Ju Kyung bcoz he was from the start with her .... when he saved her from suicide , when he knew her secrets , when he told she's pretty even without makeup, when he saved her many times from accidently showing up her real face and also ju Kyung deserved him coz she understood his trauma and helped him expressing himself . Because of JK suho actually went from a cold person to soft , happy ,more responsive and good towards friends. I won't say seo Jun was bad , he was really good but I didn't feel the chemistry in JK and him. For JK it was always Suho and also in the start Seo Jun didn't actually have feelings for her , he was only using her to get suho but when he actually started feeling for her , he never expressed it after having so many chances .
4)So Ah and Tae Hoon , Joo Young and Go woon , Hee Kyung and Han Jun Woo were best couples ! I'll say I love them more than the MLs .
5) The wedding scene was chaotic but Ig it was my favorite part in last episode and brought life to it
6) Episode 11 and 12 will always be my favourite coz of the bromance of Su Ho and Seo Jun ! 😩❤️
7) Seo Jun and Soo Jin were best SLs .... so powerful and energetic characters . Both of thems fighting scenes were gold !
8) Had many comedy scenes and loved them so much !
Things I didn't like :
1) I dropped this drama many a times coz it gets unbearable at some points but ig last episodes were bit worth it
2) They did Seo Jun so bad 😭 IK it was according to Manga but still my heart broke into pieces for him when he cried on stares ! May be he deserved a better ending where he finally moved on coz in the last scene where he sung , I still could see his love for her when she applied lipstick to him 😭.
3) The only time I hated Su Ho was the reason of breakup .... like it wasn't even needed when it was just one month apart ... Ik long distance relationships are hard but he could've tried to also understand her side coz she even had harder time. When he came back, he actually should've apologized sincerely first than acting like nothing happened.
4) Too draggy drama tbh
5) don't watch if you get SL syndrome , coz it's too much in this drama .
6) Many misunderstanding scenes which made me wanna drop the drama
At the end I'll truly appreciate every actor in this drama coz even if the storyline was a bit off , the actors carried the drama for me atleast !

True Beauty sticks to a tried and true formula that works
This drama doesn't try to do anything new, and I enjoyed it for that. I thought it was well written for the most part, except the last few episodes seemed unnecessary plot-wise, but I enjoyed the ending. A few topics were addressed around social media and bullying, and it was nice to see.The acting is top-notch, in my opinion. Each character was relatable in their own way and really brought something interesting to the story. I rarely enjoy all of the side plots that occur; however, in this drama, I really enjoyed every plot-line explored.
I also liked each of the male romance options and would have been happy to see the main character end up with either of them. The story is well written, with each character's back-story well thought-out.
I had quite a few laughs watching this drama and enjoyed it for what it is. Overall, this drama doesn't take itself too seriously or try to reinvent the wheel but does what it sets out to do exceptionally well.

True Beauty is both outer and inner beauty
Likes1. Jukyung and Suho 🥰 I think even without the childhood connection they could have still worked the relationship. I love that Suho loved Jukyung for herself and Jukyung helped Suho come out of his shell.
2. Poor Seojun, he really is a good guy, but just not the right one for Jukyung. I was hoping for a cameo of someone pretty at the end so that Seojun will have his own happy ever afer but i liked that he was able to debut!
3. Still is hard for me to watch the bullying scenes but i love that Jukyung was able to stand up and accept herself with or without makeup. And im glad she found real friends like Soo Ah.
4. Jukyung's family is weird but fun! I love the softhearted dad and the cute younger brother.
5. Bromance between Suho, Seojun and Seyeon.
6. All the cameos feom Extra You cast.. but why is Kim Young Dae's cameo so short? (Maybe he was busy filming Penthouse).
7. The makeup PPL and the OST! I almost added to cart all the colorgram cosmetics in Lazada last weekend 😁 but restrained myself. But i bought the OST!
Dislikes
1. The last two episodes felt like fillers, although they were able to wrap everyone's story. It did feel like it was more of appreciation episodes for Seo Jun as he got a lot of screen time.. he had a date with Jukyung and confessed his feelings, he still maintained his friendship with Suho and he debuted and sang twice.
2. I didnt expect the time jump, but I appreciated seeing the gang all grown up and living their lives after school. I didnt necessarily hate the breakup, i thought it was the most sensible reason at that time. Suho didnt know when he will be back and he didnt want Jukyung to wait for him. I hoped instead of Suho breaking up with Jukyung like that, and going silent for 2 years, they could have mutually agreed to hold off the relationship until he was back. I think Jukyung would have understood it.
3. I missed Soojin and i was hoping she had a better ending than volunteering overseas. It felt like she was trying hard to atone for her past behavior. She can go back to school, do what she wants and be her badass self again.
4. I'm prolly the only one who didn't like Hee Kyung and Mr Han's romance. I mostly fast forwarded their scenes.
5. I wished more reconciliation scenes between Suho and dad.
Rating: 9/10 (8.5 for the story +0.5 for Eunwoo)
