A very thrilling drama with a mutant kind of characters that full of mystery!
I love how they start and end this drama with an interesting riddle that will hook their viewers to think what really happened from the past, why did he give that riddle and what does it mean. This drama will also makes you think how and why did he made that tragic incident. Also, one of the interesting part is how the writer made it an unusual kind of crime investigation because of a mutant kind of characters, though not all of them has an extraordinary kind of intellectual and physical powers. I hope that there's a season 2 for this drama.I like the casting and acting of everyone except on hyewon. She's facial expression for all of the emotions are the same. As for Nam Goog Min, as expected he owns the character of this drama. He never disappoints me in his acting from 1-16. I also like how he change his tone of speaking for his character here.
Music: I love the music! I'll give 100% score for the composers of the 3 ost. The music will make you feel the thrill and the mystery, the sadness and the curiosity. I personally love Set Me Free night ver of Ha Do Kyun. He sing the song with full of emotions. He delivers the meaning of the song perfectly even the one who cant understand korean can feel the sadness, the frustration, the desperation and the determination of his song. The lyricist really made a great lyrics for this drama.
I will definitely watch this drama again.
One of the funniest period drama
Story: This drama is full of laughter and cute love story of the King and the Queen. There's some cooking story and politics but not too focus on politics. There's no boring scene on each episode. There's some quite tearful scene that makes you cry too.I like the attitude of the character of Jang Bo Hwan that also a lesson that you can get in this drama: When you found yourself in an inevitable dire situation, accept it and make the most our of it. Accept the help of others to keep on going like he did.
Acting/Cast:
I love all of them. All of them are perfect for their role!
Music: All of the OST and sound effect are daebak!
Overall: It is really a worth watching Period Rom/Com Drama.
Perfect for ELF to watch :-)
A very funny story that suits for SUJU hehehe. If you're a fan of SUJU then you must watch this, especially if you miss them. The story is very simple and funny. The message of the this movie is at the song at the end of the movie. If you're a teenager/high school student who loves SUJU and feeling down, this movie may encourage you to keep going and keep trying on your teenage life. Keep looking what you want to do in your life and don't give up.
The song is very encouraging.
Suju is really talented, they can sing, dance and act.
I will watch this again whenever I miss all of them.
The Brewing Process of Life and love Journey
Even though I don't drink alcohol, the metaphor of brewing is quite captivating as it underscores the messages conveyed in the stories. The drama’s introduction beautifully illustrates this brewing process.1. Malting & Mashing. The malting phase parallels our early years, which lay the groundwork for who we become. Our environment nurtures, educates, and shapes us. The mashing stage represents our formative years, a time filled with a mix of sweet and bitter experiences.
Chae Yong Ju comes from a humble background; she’s been trained to be both physically tough and mentally resilient to survive, yet she often overlooks her own emotions. Yun Min Ju, on the other hand, is a neurodivergent individual sensitive to physical, emotional, and social cues. He is empathetic and creative but struggles to gain his father’s acceptance. Bang A Reum grew up surrounded by material wealth but lacked emotional support. O Chan Hwi enjoys a loving family, but the burden of his duty as a soldier has exposed him to life's darker sides, particularly the harsh realities that come with taking innocent lives.
2. The boiling stage can be likened to the trials we encounter in life. We face these challenges and, ultimately, emerge stronger. Each main character gains strength by acknowledging their past and embracing their true selves. This is where transformation happens—akin to fermentation—where we evolve, change, and mature, much like yeast converting wort into beer.
Chae Yong Ju realizes the importance of accepting and embracing her personal needs and emotions, a lesson she learns from Yun Min Ju, who is attuned to feelings. In turn, Yun Min Ju discovers that he can be accepted, loved, and cherished by others, particularly through his connections with his staff at the brewery. When he falls for Yong Ju, he learns the value of opening up and sharing his feelings with those he loves. Similarly, Bang A Reum also learns to be open with her parents and reveals her true self to O Chan Hwi. In response, O Chan Hwi dares to be genuine in front of Bang A Reum and eventually confronts his family, though this resolution isn’t explicitly shown in the drama.
3. Conditioning Process. Like a finely aged beer, we refine our character and hone our unique qualities over time.
As for the genre, the drama can be compared to a beer with taste notes that blend fruity, malty, earthy, and hoppy flavors. This combination reflects the relationships between the characters, encompassing thoughtfulness, sweetness, happiness, and contentment. The emotional journey is engaging, evoking both laughter and tears, while also providing a sense of comfort and serenity.
Overall, the story balances creativity with some typical romantic cliches, yet these elements do not detract from its value or impact.
Music: Oh the music makes me feel the love in the air. That's all I can say about the OST hehe oh but finally, we've got to hear Kim Sejong again. :-)
Rewatch Value: Yes.
Consistenly live for the symbolism of Penthouse - greed and extreme
Note: Not for someone who has unstable emotions due to anxiety, trauma and mood disorder. Also not for someone who highly value the morality.Story:
I gave it 1 score because it is not my kind of drama. But i couldn't say that this drama is good nor bad either because it is always depends on your preferences. The story lives for its title and symbolism - greed and extreme. It is always extreme in acting and in scenes. It emphasizes the greediness, lack of empathy, merciless, selfish, revenge and anger. Each episodes will give you a roller coaster like emotions. An ups and downs scenes and a sweet and sour kind of feelings until the end. It has an unexpected twist at the end that will make you even more curious.
Acting/Casting:
Perfect 10. Main character's acting are superb and they deserve their award.
A simple yet cozy kind of drama.
Story: 7It depends on a person's personality and drama preferences whether you will like it or not. If you like soft, simple drama then you will like it. If you're the type of person who easily get bored then probably it's not for you. But if you recently experience a break-up without clear closure then you might like this drama. It might help you realize that though feelings isn't like a switch that you can just flick on and off whenever you want to, but you can eventually learn how to move on.
I like how the writer and the director make it simple. It started and ended to explain its title - " Why: The Real Reason You Got Dumped". The flow of the story is predictable and typical yet has a cozy feeling because of their chosen location- at Jeju Island. The place has a vibe where you can relax and contemplate. I can hear in my head the song "Where Do Broken Hearts Go" by Whitney Houston :-D . However, for me, the story doesn't have enough sad emotion of having a broken heart and the process of moving on. But still anyone who fell in love can relate in the story especially the one who already experienced break-up.
Acting/Casting: 8
I watched this drama because of Hwang In Yeop while waiting for True Beauty. He really has a talent in acting. I like his facial reaction in every situation. I hope Hwang In Yeop will have more project in the future. About the others, well, they're good, in their acting but still need a little bit improvement.
Music:
The OST is quite good.
If I will suggest an OST to play for the reason why she dumped him, I would suggest the song "I don't love you" by Urban Zakapa hehe
Rewatch:
Not my type of drama to rewatch again but maybe for other people who find this drama cute they might rewatch it again.
Overall:
Overall it's good to give it a try, it just 2hours anyway.
Run On. Move On - A drama about life
Story: I love the flow of the story all through out. It is not a sports drama but about life. How you keep moving forward when it comes to career, love life and family issues. I commend the writer for illustrating life as a race. We all must keep moving forward in life though there's a lot of struggles, it's ok not to be swift, It's ok to change your line sometimes what matter is we stay on track and keep enduring it until you reach your goal. It's normal to get tired and that's ok just keep trying and keep moving. Just don't stop.Expect that this drama is not perfect but you can just ignore it and focus on the funny scene.
Acting/Casting:
I love everyone but I'm not fully satisfied with Shin Se Kyung acting. She's beautiful and ok sometimes but I think there's a better actress that can act better as Oh Mi Joo.
I love Im Si Wan acting as always. He's really good in every role he got.
Kang Tae Oh is also a versatile actor. He has a cute role here as Lee Yeong Hwa.
I am very satisfied with Sooyoung this time with her role. She's really great as CEO Seo Dan Ah.
Music:
All of the ost are ok it just that not all of them is my type of music. I recommend Run To You by LUCY.
Rewatch Value:
I will rewatch it again if I will miss to see Im Si Wan again hehe.
Overall: I am satisfied with this drama. One of my Top 20 of 2020 Korean Drama. I will recommend this drama to someone who feel lost and who's a fan of Im Si Wan, Kang Tae Oh and Sooyoung.
Intriguing mix of MIB, Doctor Stranger and Matrix kind of Time Travel Drama ?
Story:If you love watching time travel, sci-fi kind of drama then you must watch this drama. It is not a perfect plot though, there's some holes in the story and illogical scenes but still this drama gave me full of excitement, curiosity and all kinds of emotions from ep.1 to 16. I love that it has a clear lesson to convey to the viewers, - "don't dwell on the past that cannot be undone, appreciate more your present time and the persons around you." If you're a person who keeps turning back on your past, this drama might help you to get some realization.
Acting/Cast:
Perfect 10 for the main role especially to Joo Won and Kim Hee Seon. As always, you will never disappoint in their acting.
Music:
All OST are all good, but some of it are not my type of music.
Rewatch Value:
If I will miss watching Joo Won I will watch it again. I actually watched the first half 3x.
A series that makes you understand about human behavior.
If you are interested in psychological drama, then this drama is right for you. I personally like the whole story. Every episode has new mental illness that you can learn from. I like how the writer put a lesson like a cognitive therapy for the watcher in each episode. It may also help anyone to analyze themselves or make anyone aware to their own behavior. All mental illness cases are well research, good job to the writer. I like how they've shown the symptoms of every patient cases too. There's just something off in acting of some character but it's fine. However, though every episode has new cases there's still something missing when it comes to thrill in my own preference. When it comes to music, i think their focus it just the story itself so don't anticipate for exciting ost or exciting music background.
When it comes to acting of main character, they're all ok.
Well recommended psychological drama.
A Funny and Cute Drama that might help you realize your dreams and don't give up
if you are looking for a RomCom genre with a full of cuteness and positive vibes with a handsome leading man and cute leading woman, then you shouldn't miss this drama. Also, if you love listening to piano then it really a drama for you.Acting/Casting - For me acting is very important while watching drama and this drama didn't fail to amaze me. all of the cast did they job very well. Go Ara really portray the character of Gu Rara who has a bright personality even though the situation is not good. She has full of aegyo here and she can really makes you laugh. (well it is easy for me to laugh) About Lee Jae Wook, he's not just handsome but really can act well. I fell in love with Sunwoo Jun /Lee Jae Wook that gave me Lee Jae Wook Syndrome for a month hihi. They have a good chemistry with Go Ara. I like Lee Jae Wook portray the emotions he has to show if its sad, happy, shy, inlove, manly etc. He really has a talent for being a good actor. I surely wait for his another new drama. You will never disappoint in other cast too, the ajummas are so funny and helpful with the main character. I love their team work.
Story plot: There's just some mystery at the same a time a hole in the whole story if you already seen too much drama you can easily tell what it is. In my opinion there is some unnecessary scene that shouldn't be in the drama but good job to the writer and to the director that it still the over all result is very good! I dont mind the the hole hehe. You will still enjoy the drama and you doesnt care about those holes. I just wish that they gave a better impact of do do sol lala sol hehe.
OST: Maybe some of the viewer will love the ost but the ost of this drama is not my preference. I only love 3 ost of this drama. But i do love the classical piano that played in the drama hehe.
Futuristic and Interesting
This is the first space kind of story of South Korea and I am amazed by it. The cinematography is great! The plot of the story is very futuristic. The writer of this movie has a good imagination making impossible possible, well that's sci-fi is all about.I love the casting, they're all good even the foreigners. I love that it has different races and languages.
Music/Sound effect are awesome! I'd connected it into a big speaker so I can feel like I am at the cinema.
I will watch it again if I miss Song Joong Ki again.
An unrealistic drama that will feed your curiosity and laughter but ended with disappointment
Story: It is funny kind of mystery but no sense. Maybe this is better with just a few episodes. They put a lot of unnecessary characters, story and scenes.Acting and casting are all good except with Ko Mi Rae character.. I like how Cho Yeo Jeong (Kang Yeo Joo) consistently have poker face. She deserved her award for this drama.
Music: Though it is not my type of music but they also made a melody that will really suit this drama.
Rewatch Value: I won't rewatch this again. Not worth of my time.
But overall this drama made me laugh somehow.
Police Investigation Drama in Joseon Era
It seems that this is a remarkable period drama of 2003. I think this is the only period/historical drama that only focus on Police Unit and the crime they are solving. Thanks to actress Ha Ji Won that I came to try to watch this drama. So here's my own review:Story score: 6
- Just like the crime-police investigation in modern drama, this drama is just focus on police investigation and in police unit. If you love crime and police investigation kind of drama you will find the story interesting as it shows the old style of doing an autopsy and stake out but still the same vibes in modern drama. There's also a lot of actions scene. However, in my own opinion and preference in investigation type of drama, it still lacking in some aspects such as thrill and suspense because you can easily guess what will happen next.
Acting and Casting Score: Perfect 10
- I watched this drama because of Ha Ji Won and as expected she never disappoints her fans and she deserves all the awards she gained in this drama. I always love Ha Ji Won actions scenes here. Also the other actors on the police unit are all familiar to me and I knew that they really act well. All of them deliver their lines very well.
Music Score: 4
- Singer and songs are good but it just that it is not my type of music but I love the voices of the singers.
Re-watch Value Score: 1
- Though I like to watch police investigation and action kind of drama, I wouldn't watch it again because I easily get bored. But if you're a big fan of historical, investigation drama and fan of any of the cast you might want to replay this again.
Overall Score Review: 5.5
Compelling drama with strong performances, unique cultural element, and uplifting message.
If you enjoy well-crafted dramas with strong characters, culture, and tradition this drama is definitely worth checking out.My thoughts about the drama:
The story unfolds like a thrilling rollercoaster, evoking many emotions with each episode. It spins a mesmerizing tale, blending a gripping story with breathtaking performances that transport viewers through time. Each time Kim Tae Ri's character, Jongnyeon, engages in the soulful art of "pansori" it becomes a breathtaking spectacle, captivating me. I find myself completely absorbed in the whirlwind of feelings that each act evokes. The Korean tradition of "pansori", a unique form of musical story telling, presents an unforgettable auditory experience. While reactions may vary, some may find it enchanting, and some may not.
The cast excels in delivering exceptional performances, infusing their characters with authenticity and passion. True to form, Kim Tae Ri never fails to impress; She breathes life into her role with a depth of feeling that is both real and heart-wrenching. Similarly, Shin Ye Eun's interpretation of Heo Yeong Seo stands out, showcasing a broader emotional range than I've seen in her previous work.
I truly cherish the profound lessons woven throughout the story: even when faced with overwhelming adversity, hope and perseverance can triumph. Embrace challenges, confront countless obstacles that may come, and don't lose yourself.
-
simple and cute drama that will only give you 2nd lead syndrome except you're a fan of Cha Eun Woo
Story:The story is very funny to watch except on the last 2 episode that gave me a heartache for the 2nd leading man. It is funny but also has a boring scene but I don't mind as long as I can see Hwang In Yeop in each episode. (I'm a fan of him)
What I dislike about the drama is they didn't focus on the essence of its title "True Beauty". It is more about the love triangle. I agree somehow to other viewers who said that they should change the title hehe.
But somehow it has a lesson for all viewers that the true beauty of a person is not on his/her outside appearance but on his/her inner person with the positive traits and qualities. The Bible proverb says: "Charm may be false, and beauty may be fleeting, But the woman who fears Jehovah (name of God) will be praised." (Proverbs:31:30 NWT) A pretty, charming young woman is a delightful companion. But what if there are hypocrisy and selfish vanity lurking behind the physical charm? (like Kang Soo Jin) Then the beauty is only skin deep, and it hides an inner ugliness. When the prettiness fades, what will be left? How much better if the good looks are matched by an unfading inner beauty. Value yourself and the standards you try to live by. If you are conscious of caring for both your outer beauty and your inner beauty, you will have great value and you will attract the type of person that will suit you best!
Acting/Casting:
I love the cast!
Moon Ga Yeong is so cute. For me it is a great role for her! She gave justice on her character as Im Ju Kyung. Indeed, Moon Ga Yeong is one of the good actress of Korea.
Cha Eun Woo - I like looking at his very handsome face hihi. But I hope he will improve more in his acting. But I think he is perfect for this role for showing that you shouldn't judge on outer appearance. There's no ugly and beauty faces all are beautiful.
Hwang In Yeop - He is such a good actor!!! I am glad that he is now a rising star!
About others everyone is so great especially Ju Kyung's family! For sure you will love them all!
Music:
I like the ost but not all of them is my type of music. If I will make suggestion, i will choose Fall In You by Ha Sung Woon and of course Starting Today by Hwang In Yeop.
I especially love all the songs sung by Hwang In Yeop in this drama especially his cover song of To You My Light.
Overall:
Well, this is drama is one of my top 20 of 2020 KDrama.
