Zhong Wu Yen is a woman warrior who's fated to marry Emperor Qi. When the Emperor and Wu Yen first meet, he accidentally frees the evil Fox fairy, who is neither male nor female. The Fox fairy falls in love with them both at the same time but likes Wu Yen more. Unable to woo her, he transforms into a beauty to seduce the Emperor and puts a curse on Wu Yen. As long as she loves the Emperor, she'll be marred by a hideous mark on her face. The Emperor is dim-witted and lazy with no interest in politics, he is disgusted at Wu Yen's ugliness.
