The best part about the movie is that you won't end the movie with the same conception that you began with. it's full of so many twists and turns that you're unlikely to predict the story. Brilliant acting and great suspense.
A murderer who escapes a brutal crime of 10 murders is free and famous. he writes a book admitting his crimes but there's someone else too who knows how the murders happened. So you keep clinging to your pillow till the end.
Park Shi Hoo.. there's something about his smile..it seemed so cocky and wicked.. loved him!!
Do watch!

Some many twists and turns. Don't blink and don't turn your head. Jung Jae Young as the tortured Lt Choi and Park Shi Hoo as Doo Suk were excellent. The supporting cast also did a great job in reeling you into the story. The action sequences like the car chase, the alley chase as well as the ending scenes were well done and choreographed. Like I said, don't turn your head or fast forward because you will miss some serious details. Park Shi Hoo should do more action. His scene in the elevator was great to watch. Here's hoping for a comeback in the movies. Still can't wrap around my head people saying this was boring! Never a dull moment to me. But be warned, this is NOT a romance!!

I wasn't really sure what to expect before I started watching "Confession of Murder". The story had all the right elements for an awesome action-suspense movie, but at the same time the story had all the wrong elements. CoM could have gone either way- it could have been really really good, or it could have been really really bad. I'm glad to say that even though it might not be narratively perfect- it is suspenseful, action-packed and very smartly written.
Story: The premise is ripe with conflict and possibilities, but all those possibilities mean that there is a pretty high chance that a story like this could go wrong. Of course, CoM might not work for some people- in fact, in the beginning I was more than a little skeptical- but as I continued watching the movie I became more and more invested in all the characters. I found it really interesting how as the movie went on, my loyalties to different characters shifted. You might wind up liking some characters at first, and then hating them later, or vise-versa. The story is also very... thought provoking? It walks a very fine line between being completely unrealistic and being *too* realistic. The public's reaction to the Confession of Murder comes across as a bit much, but as the movie progresses, it's not difficult to see that happening in real life. Also, since I have absolutely no idea how the police or law works in Korea, I can't say either way if "Confession of Murder" did that realistically, but it seemed okay to me. The psychological aspect was dialed down, but there was a lot of action and mystery. The directing here was pretty awesome, and the chase scenes were nail-biting.
Acting: Let me just start out by saying that Park Shi Hoo was perfect for his role. I haven't really seen him in too many roles, but I've noticed that he can pull off the slightly crazed type pretty well. However, Jung Jae Young stole the show here. It helped that his character was so layered, of course.
Music: I can't really remember if there was an actual song to go with this movie, but there was a really awesome instrumental that was used once or twice. The music here was really important in setting the scene and creating the mood.
Rewatch Value: Half the awesomeness of this movie comes from it's suspense. If you already know what's going to happen next, you're not really going to be as in to it.
Overall: Wow. "Confession of Murder" was brilliant. If you're looking for a high-stakes action movie, then this is it. I wouldn't exactly recommend CoM to you if you were looking for something psychological or a straight-up Sherlock Holmes-esque mystery, though.

This movie was pretty good even with all its quick changes and intertwining stories. It was held together really well and it kept me on my toes for two hours straight, as I was hit with all the fast-paced action sequences (green screen heavy) and the eventual build-up of the stunning plot twist that made the movie. Although, it was arguably predicatable or sketchy from day 1, the typical movie watcher would have never been able to guess the exact schemes of the main characters. If I had to choose one thing however, that pleased me the most about this movie, I would have to pick the film's clean ending. The main character acted according to his heart, and not with his head, and thats exactly what the moment called for. I have no doubt that you will be adequately satisfied with "Confession of Murder" and that you will be happy with the neat closure of this film.

I have always been a fan of crime/mystery stories and I was very excited to watch this one. In some ways, this movie is quite a success in its organization and plot. I felt especially connected with the characterization of the main character, the police officer. The actor did a great job flushing out the personality of his character and I found myself more emotionally invested by his journey than the actual mystery.

The movie also did a good job bringing some questions we see in society. Such as stature of limitation, our perception of beauty and how it may influence our opinion of a person. The character PSH plays is especially highlights some of the issues the movie tries to showcase.

However, on a personally level, perhaps I have been watching too many mystery stories but I found the ending/surprise to be quite predictable. After finishing the movie, I was left with a feeling of wanting more. I was looking for more nuance, more suspense which I think the movie did a great job in the first half but failed to do in the second half.

Despite the lackluster ending, the movie itself did a great job keeping me engaged from the get go. I find myself unable to turn my head away from the screen and wanting to know what unfolds despite having a good idea of what the ending of be.

Overall, this is a great movie for those who are looking for a good mystery movie. However, I have to warn those who are mystery buffs that you just may be disappointed by the ending.

I did not expect to have so much fun watching this movie. It was hilarious, even though the title made it seem like it was only going to be really serious and nerve wrecking. The twist and turns were really unexpected, and it was done so perfectly that i couldn't wait to see what would happen next. Each characters were played out well by the actors and you could see how the actors especially Jung jae young and Park shi-hoo took their lines and made it their own because there was truly some good acting to make me immerse myself into the storyline. The action scenes were truly fun to watch even though they overdid it at times. The last few scenes were mind blowing because it kept me wishing i was in that scene to beat the crap out of someone that truly deserved it. I recommend it because you might get something more out of it, and a really good laugh:)

It's been awhile since I watched this movie but since it's one of my favorites I wanted to review it.

Park Shi Ho is one of my favorite actors, so watching this movie was a must. And although I didn't really know what I was getting myself into back then, in the end I was convinced to the the fullest. Story, actors and cinematography. I wasn't worried about Park Shi Ho. He's a great actor. But all the other cast members also did an awesome job. They went very well together. And that was one of the most important parts in this movie because at the end it drops a midsize bombshell, putting everything in a new light. There was not one moment where I suspected such an ending. I knew something wasn't right but my suspicions didn't even get close to that solving. The movie definitely surprises with some nice ideas.

Cinematography and scene editing: Thumbs up! No rushing, no stalling.

There's nothing to criticize on my part. The overall package is self-consistent. Lots of action and many thrilling moments, surprising turns and even some humorous parts that doesn't seem out of place. Stunt choreography was brilliant and never looked posed.

I for myself was wholeheartedly satisfied with this one.

Strong part of the movie;
1- Recording of action scene tecnique is good especially at first 10 min.(but i have to admit it i'm not an expert)
2- Story based on Lt. Choi and his character was made well.
3- Acting is good

Weak part of the movie;
1- At first storytelling was slow.
2- They should explain a little more clearly about the issue of closing murder cases after 15 year and criminals won't get charged after that moment.

Some important about the past of LT. Choi delayed intentionally in sequece of storytelling. i don't like it. it feels like they stuffed whole thing last 40 min. Anyway overall it is a good movie but i don't think people want to rewatch.

First of all, This is a good film. The movie is enticing and so is the cast, fast-paced, and thrilling. If you're into these kind of films then this one is for you. My assessment:

Strengths:
> The plot is really good and the outline of the story is organized.
> The acting is superb, the main characters are all spot on and stunning.
> The ending is beautiful.

Weaknesses:
> It would've been great if they did more on the back-story of the murders. It would be more sympathizing for the victims' families.
> What the victims' families did was a little dragging, I mean they want revenge and they would've planned a more powerful scheme.

Never I would've thought high of violent crime movies, and I try to stay away from this genre as much as possible. Except for occasional scenes, this movie was a perfect crime thriller. Thanks to the acting, the leading cast was superb, and I have to say, the supporting cast as well. You would feel the anger, the pain, the hate for the criminal as if all are real, not an act. The leading actors managed to personify their characters like this is their reality. It would have worked perfect 10 for me if it was not for some scenes which were either repulsive or extremely violent. That said, I wouldn't have watched an entire crime movie like that if it was not for the story and the acting. Accolades for the Director, he kept the audience connected to the story of the victims and their families and the fact that sometimes laws help monsters' criminals to get away with the most heinous crimes. Glad that this monster paid the price. Class A act.

IT IS MY FIRST REVIEW!!!

I would rate Confession of Murder an 8 out of 10 for its thrilling narrative, intense performances, and well-executed suspense. The film does an excellent job of keeping viewers engaged with its clever twists and the dynamic tension between the detective and the alleged killer. The action scenes, especially the car chase, are standout moments that add to the film’s excitement. However, some plot twists feel a bit over-the-top, which slightly affects the film's believability. Despite this, its gripping story and emotional depth make it a strong and memorable entry in the crime thriller genre.

Confession of Murder (2012) is a gripping South Korean thriller that masterfully blends suspense with emotional depth. The story revolves around a detective, Choi Hyung-goo, who has been haunted by an unsolved serial murder case for 15 years. Just after the statute of limitations expires, a man named Lee Doo-seok publishes a bestselling book claiming to be the killer, detailing the murders in chilling detail. The movie keeps you on the edge of your seat as it unravels a complex cat-and-mouse game between the detective and the supposed killer, with layers of mystery and deception that constantly keep you guessing. The intense pacing and unexpected twists make it a standout in the genre, while exploring deeper themes of justice, guilt, and revenge.

The performances are another highlight, particularly by Jung Jae-young, who plays the dogged detective, and Park Si-hoo, whose portrayal of the smug, charismatic killer adds an eerie charm to the character. Director Jung Byung-gil also deserves praise for his stylish direction and ability to maintain tension throughout the film. The action sequences are thrilling, especially a spectacular car chase that stands out as one of the best in Korean cinema. However, some of the plot twists may feel overly dramatic or far-fetched to some viewers, which could detract from the overall realism. Nonetheless, Confession of Murder offers an entertaining and suspenseful ride that fans of crime thrillers will thoroughly enjoy.

Must watch

I found this gem a little late but it definitely was worth the watch.

The action and story line kept me on edge. The first scene was unreal. Hardly ever will a movie start with such an intense scene. You didn't know how who the good guy or the bad guy was until the alley scene.

Park Shi Hoo acting was amazing. The ambulance scene was non stop adrenaline. Jung Jae Young and Park Shi Hoo ' s chemistry was subpar. You never knew what to expect when they were together. I never would have imagined the ending. This gem is now one of my favorite movies.
